“Gorgeous haven in Marrakesh”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 March 2011

I just spent a weekend at Dar al Assad with my boyfriend and we had the most wonderful time.

The location is ideal, as the riad is a very short walk from the Jemaa el Fna square: you leave the hustle and bustle of the square and the souk, and suddenly find yourself in a very quiet little street of the medina.

Once inside the riad, it feels like you're in another place entirely, luxuriously quiet and gorgeously decorated: the owner is a professional decorator, but he has kept the original structure of the riad as it was when it was first built.

Each room is different (we were the first guests to arrive so we were given a little tour!) and we were delighted with ours, which was elegant and comfortable. We enjoyed the rooftop terrace, too, and liked to go up there to read and relax.

The staff was very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay, offering advice and recommendations when we needed them to, and the cook is very talented (we ate really well!).

As soon as we stepped through the door we knew that we had chosen the best. The Ryad is beautifully furnished and the courtyard is cool, calm and quiet even on the hottest day. There is a roof terrace with sun loungers and parasols where it is possible to sunbathe and relax. Meals are served in the courtyard , the breakfast is a veritable feast and the cook will prepare other meals (orders at breakfast). The food was delicious and cooking lessons could be had. The staff are delightful and certainly made our holiday memorable.

April 13-15, 2006. 5 minutes walk to Djamaa El Fna, but on very quiet, residential street. Has only 4 rooms with central garden, solarium terrace on the roof. Exceptional service. Our room rate was 1300 DAH (~130 euro) per night including breakfast.
