We stayed for 3 nights in this lovely Riad. The room was spacious, bathroom huge and in a courtyard with only one other room nearby. Coffee arrived every morning and the breakfast on the roof terrace was delicious - too much to actually eat. We had treatments which were excellent and ate dinner there once, again on the terrace, when the food was great.

It is in the Medina and walking distance from the main square but once you are back inside it is so quiet. Only a 20min drive from the airport, the manager advised us to get a local taxi because it was cheaper than the driver they could arrange which was nice. The staff were all lovely, I would not hesitate to go back.

This Riad was well tipped in "Marrakech Select". We spent a very enjoyable and lazy afternoon here. We started with a light lunch on the terrace which enjoys a great view of the famous mosque, with rather bizarrely a strip of grass or putting green immediately in front of it on the terrace. We then dozed and read on their long comfortable sofas, for much of the afternoon. We returned later in the evening for a drink to enjoy the view and atmosphere.

Our only wish was that we had spent longer at this splendid place and stayed here, rather than at Riad Catalina around the corner. Service was discrete, courteous and efficient. A wonder through some of the other rooms and floors indicated that this would be a very relaxing place to stay. If we ever return to Marrakech we will be checking availability here before anywhere else.

By husband and I went to El Fenn in July for our 11 year wedding anniversary. We had room 2 on the ground floor which was brilliant as the weather was so hot. The Riad had brilliant staff with good recommendations of restuarants. They organised a guide for us one day which was excellent too.Totally recommend and will stay again when we go back to Marrakech.

I normally don't write reviews but this hotel is worth it. Our room was amazing. It consisted of 3 floors with the top our very own private terrace - right in the heart of Marrakech. The staff were incredibly professional and friendly, and our 3 children loved the option of not just 1 but 3 pools. I will definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to return to Marrakech someday.

We stayed here in May and had the most blissful 3 night stay in the heart of Marrakesh - all just a 5 minute walk from the infamous Souks.

The staff were all lovely and the decor was so tasteful it hurt. Super comfy beds and great cocktails.

A gorgeous mix of mid-century and traditional Moroccan styles. Would go back in a heartbeat!

I rarely write reviews on trip advisor, but I recently enjoyed a fabulous evening at Riad El Fenn's restaurant. On this occasion I was only a guest at the restaurant, but I have been a guest of the hotel in June 2006, May 2008 and September 2008. Over the years the riad has expanded and improved, but it's the familiar faces of staff that make the place extra special and their attention to service. Houssaine, the restaurant manager, knew it was a special occasion and saw to it that we had a perfect evening on the roof terrace - faultless service, delicious meal and an absolutely magical setting.

I highly recommend a stay at Riad El Fenn. It is an other worldly oasis of tranquility and the perfect counter balance to the hectic Marrakech medina.

As a frequent visitor to Marrakech, I can say a big plus is its location. Taxis/car access is just a few meters from the door, which is very reassuring when dropped off late at night! It is 5 minutes walking distance to jemaa el fna square (close but not too close) and close to the la nouveau ville neighbourhoods of hivernage and gueliz.

Room Tip: The colonnade rooms on the first floor offer more privacy.

I must start this review by stating that I do not write reviews period, let alone 2 months after my trip.

El Fenn was simple a stunning Riad, from the immaculate gardens, to the ornate bedrooms but most extraordinarily, the amazing staff. El Fenn is located in the heart of the Medina but once you enter you feel like you've entered into an oasis. No amount of reviews/ pictures can accurately depict this stunning hotel.

Before we arrived, we arranged an itinerary with Karimah who paid exquisite attention to detail. From arranging airport pickup and drop off service, a tour of the Souks with mrberbercarpet, to cooking and belly dancing classes to even accommodating an extra night stay at the very last minute.

On our arrival, we were met by a VERY handsome gentleman who made us feel very relaxed and comfortable. He taught us some Arabic words/phrases and gave us a history lessons of landmarks we passed. We weren't quite sure if we heading in the right direction when he got close to the Riad, because it was in the middle of the medina and we had to walk to the hotel but the uncertainty was worth it.

We were given a tour of the Riad and our suite which was beautifully decorated. In our suite we were met with fresh flowers and a sumptuous plate of pastries and Mint team. The almond cake was DIVINE. We had dinner at the rooftop restaurant and was catered to by the staff, even ensuring that we're comfortable when the temperature dropped by providing comfy blankets.

My roommate and I wanted to try an authentic Moroccan dinner and once again Karimah arranged reservations for dinner at Al Fassia. She even arranged pickup from our Sunday Brunch at La Moumania to ensure that we would be on time for our cooking class.

One day when we were slightly lost at Jemma's el-Fnaa square, we met one of the staff members Icham who helped us even on his day off. He even gave us suggestions of non touristy activities to partake in.

Icham, Abel, Karimah, Mrberbercarpet, bartender/waiter whose name name I can't remover and all the amazing staff at El Fenn, thank you for making my trip truly remarkable. I have memories to last a lifetime.

If you're reading this review, stop and book El Fenn as your Riad of choice. You won't regret it!!!!!

With 20 individually styled rooms and suites, a four-bedroom private riad, 3 swimming pools and its own hammam spa, El Fenn is a unique boutique hotel combining grandeur and historic architecture with hideaway nooks, terraces and gardens - making it the most peaceful place from which to enjoy Africa's most exotic city. Our story began with two friends on the hunt for a small riad to buy as a holiday home. It was 2002 when Vanessa Branson and Howell James walked into the almost ruined courtyard of one of Marrakech's formerly great private homes. Nearing dusk and with the sound of the muezzin's call to prayer echoing in the air, they instantly fell in love with the atmospheric house which was being sold with three smaller neighbouring homes. They soon realised that their holiday home was going to become so much more.At the time, only a handful of Marrakech's riads had been converted to small hotels and Vanessa and Howell knew they wanted to open a place offering something different - a home from home retreat that combined great food and service with the spirit of the building's past and a contemporary decorative twist. During a two-year renovation, local craftsman used traditional techniques to breathe new life into the building. Polished lime plastering was used in a rainbow of colours to create walls, baths and bed frames, original tiling was renovated and carved cedar ceilings restored. Retro furniture sourced from local flea markets was combined with one-off bespoke pieces to create a unique interior. ... more   less
