“Absolutely Incredible and Welcoming”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

Where to even begin?!
Dar el Souk absolutely MADE my trip to Marrakech- it would not have been the same, had I stayed somewhere else.
Madi and team emailed me the week before to arrange transport from the airport- much appreciated and inexpensive.
As soon as we were dropped off, Abdul greeted us and walked us to the riad, showing us the area along the way. He also sat down with us to show us a map, go through some recommendations, asked us if we needed any excursions booked, etc. Abdul was so helpful and lovely throughout our stay!
The room was perfect for my friend and I- had a lovely bathroom and all the necessities. As two women in our late twenties, we had a great friends weekend, lots to do and see and the riad was a lovely place to relax and come home to each night. There were also lots of couples and girls trips. The riad itself is beautiful, lovely roof top terrace, beautiful places to sit and relax, enjoy breakfast or the sunset. The location is fantastic, right by the Jemaa el Fna, Bahia Palace, markets, convenience shops with water and food, place to grab a taxi out of the old town and very safe. The riad is great value for money also, and will gladly keep a running tab for you during your stay. The breakfasts were incredible, all the food and teas were just amazing.
All of the staff at Dar el Souk went above and beyond- Abdul and Yassine treated us like Queens and were absolutely lovely.
I can't recommend Dar el Souk enough- I will definitely be back to Marrakech and will definitely return to stay here again.

I travelled as part of a group of 4 women. Abdul, Yassine and the staff made us feel very welcome and helped us with transfers, trips and planning our time, without any pressure... Tui could learn a lot about customer service. The Riad is a safe, clean, calm and cool retreat. The plunge pool was a life saver for weary feet and the roof terrace was a lovely spot for breakfast and after noon mint tea before a nap.
The rooms were very clean and had a great shower.
The Riad is an easy walk to Fna square. I would definitely recommend this place.

After a 6 day trek we arrived in Marrakech dusty and tired and were guided to a back alley that ran parallel to a shopping street that led to the Main Square and it all looked a little dubious. However, we entered the Riad through a single door and were led into a quiet open court yard with a small plunge pool, surrounded by walkways off which the rooms were located. Abdullah, the manager, was welcoming and informative and nothing was too much to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
While the accommodation is not 5 star, the rooms are clean, cool and functional, and the beds are comfortable. It is the service, the ambience and the Moroccan feel of the place that makes it an enjoyable stay. It is a calm oasis from the "lively" streets of the Medina. The roof top terrace is a great place to chill, sunbathe, eat and drink. Beers are available (£2/can) and are brought direct to you.
For rest and relaxation after trekking or negotiations with street vendors, this accommodation cannot be faulted, and is well placed for the main tourist attractions.
The Kosy Bar which sells alcohol is a 5-10min walk away but be prepared to pay (75dh (£5.50)/bottle).
I would not hesitate to stay here again if I return.

Room Tip: We were 4 males and our rooms were split 2 x twins either side of a shared bathroom. This arrangemen...

The roof terrace is gorgeous. Being served meals up there was a real treat. All the staff are lovely and sorted us out very helpfully. Abdul provided lots of useful advice. They served us a delicious supper on our first night. Breakfast was tasty too. Thoroughly recommended. Convenient for Bahia Palace and the main square, hence not far from the souks.

Wow, your jaw just drops when you step inside this Riad. We were met, as promised, at the airport, driven straight into the old town where we were met by Abdul and the chariot handler, and led to Dar el Souk. It's absolutely beautiful and you are made very welcome by everyone who works there. All the staff are lovely and very helpful in giving you advice, making excursion arrangements (we visited the Atlas Mountains one day) and making dinner reservations for you. Nothing is too much trouble.
It really is a peaceful retreat when the madness of the souks and the squares become too much. The call to prayer can easily be heard on the roof terrace; it's very emotive.
If/when we return, we will definitely stay here again. We met someone else who'd booked a different Riad and had had to change to another one, so we definitely recommend Dar el Souk.
Just one word of warning, be wary of anyone who greets you like a long lost friend outside the Riad and says they work there - if you don't recognise them, don't do what we do and get led completely astray and follow them to various shops and co-operatives :)

Room Tip: We stayed on the ground floor, had no issues with it at all - can't believe the value of it comp...

We arrived quite late and were welcomed with peppermint tea.T he rooms were adequate and beds extremely comfortable.
The decor was great - full of character
It is set on several levels and we chose to have breakfast on the terrace which was quiet hot and exquisite.
We opted for dinner at the Riad in the second night as my daughter was rather nervous about venturing out again as it can be quite intimidating. The tangine was tasty but quite dry - something we found throughout everywhere in Morocco.

The Riad is great - the only thing is that noise travels and you have someone noisy making a call at 1 am in the next door room you can hear all
We enjoyed it though!

Well we were off again on a last minute three night break as my wife had a week between positions when here charity was absorbed by NHS. So we chose Dar el Souk straight out of Booking.com.

We were interested to make the mist of such a short break so a riad was our first choice. We didn't want pampered lixury and an antiseptic aporoach to finding the real Marrakesh either. Dar el Souk just doesn't disappoint in anything. Right in the medina but quiet and peaceful attentive staff and the chance do do what you want.
A ten out of ten break in every department for the "explorer" in you!
