Riad Al Moussika would be one of the best Hotel experiences my husband and I have ever experienced. The accommodation, the food the attention to detail are of the highest standard. Breakfast is fabulous and the lunches are to die for. Tours are organised as are restaurant reservations and transport is booked to pick you up all with no fuss.
It is short easy walk to the square and it is safe by day and night.

We stayed in the Green room and had access to the rooftop garden, when we go back to Marrakech we will not even bother to look at other accommodation as we dont believe that it could compare.

From the moment we stepped through the giant front door into the entry and saw the fountain filled with red roses, we knew we were in a magical place. Our luxurious room, the excellent food, and the supreme hospitality of Hassan Id Brahim and his staff was beyond what we'd imaginined it would be. We chose Riyad because it is non-smoking and we couldn't have picked a better Riyad in all of Marrakech. The Moroccan lunches were fabulous as well as the pasta dinners. We loved the Moroccan wine. Hassan took a great deal of time to arrange sightseeing and guides for us, directed us to interesting spots, and even sent a staff person to buy a tagine for us (and wrapped it in bubble wrap to take home). We can't recommend this Riyad high enough--everything was perfect!

The Riyad Al Moussika was once home to an extremely wealthy Moroccan pasha, but has since been restored and converted into a riyad. As noted in other reviews, it is very well-located near the Jemaa Al-Fna. The interior of the riyad was very beautiful - some elements of the intricate ceilings and wall designs in our room actually resembled those found in some of the monuments and palaces we visited. We stayed in the green room, a suite double deluxe room for one week.

The manager of the hotel (not the owner named "Giovanni" mentioned in other reviews) took pride in ensuring our experience in the hotel and Marrakech in general went well - he told us several times to consider the riyad our 'home.' Breakfast and lunch in the riyad tailored to our dietary restrictions, Moroccan mint tea and pastries whenever we liked, and transportation to and from the airport were all included in the cost of our stay. The staff was also very courteous and eager to please.

We ultimately chose to stay in a riyad to get a truer taste of Morocco and were not disappointed. That being said, there are some trade-offs with staying in a riyad as opposed to a typical hotel. For example, wireless internet, though included in the price of our stay, was not within range of our actual room so we had to go outside or to the riyad office to use internet - unlikely to happen in a hotel. Additionally, almost immediately outside the riyad door, we were exposed to the annoying locals trying to extort money from us for "helping" us with directions (i.e. declaring the street we were walking toward was "closed" and offering to provide an alternate route - for a fee). This happens everywhere in Morocco and is not the fault of the riyad, but was annoying to face right outside the door.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay in a true Moroccan riyad. Though it was not cheap, we felt that there was a lot included, making it more than worth the price we paid.

As a world traveler and one who really likes authentic (and luxurious) hotels, I found the Al Moussika one of the finest "finds" of my traveling career. This intimate, beautiful and charming hotel has it all. A lovely manager (Mr. Hassan) who is thrilled to show off the intricate work that went into restoring this old palace, a cordon-bleu trained chef who presented dishes we're still talking about, lovely rooms and a staff that tended to our every need. Wow. There are just a handful of rooms, so you feel like the hotel is your own private palace, with many intimate "public" spaces; tv room, sitting room, library, terrace, pool. We loved our room with it's own private patio and although it was one of the smallest in the hotel, it had everything we needed and more. Can't recommend this place highly enough. I might go back to celebrate my birthday with family and friends.

When we decided to go to Morrocco we were advised by others who have been to choose good hotels as you need somewhere to get away from it all especially in Marrakech and they were right Marrakech is an amazing, crazy place so having a little haven to go back to was a god send! I chose this hotel as it looked so authentic and I love traditional Morrocan style and of course the rave reviews on here.

The hotel is beautiful, your own little Palace and if I am honest we didnt really want to leave it at all! Our room was a comfort double and we got the Orange (terracotta) room overlooking the pool. The room itself was stunning from the hand painted ceilings and doors to the stained glass windows, a lovely bathroom with soft fluffy towels and robes, The bed was comfortable with pristine linen in fact the entire hotel is spotless. The rest of the hotel is a feast for the eyes every detail has been thought out, you have the pool/garden area where many birds hang out (if I was a sparrow I would live there too) then adjacent the open courtyard where breakfast/lucnh are served. They have a comfortable sitting room with huge sofas and TV/DVD equipment for guests. The libary is well stocked with many books that are actually interesting and many about Morrocco so relevant also. The roof terrace is a real sunspot with a selection of sunbeds, chairs and sofas to relax on...I could go on and on...to sum it up we went to see the famous palace in Marrakech and spent the entire time thinking...we know our hotel was made by the same person and yes its smaller but its so much better than here!

To make our stay in this gorgeous hotel even better were the hotel team. Every single one of them made us feel like we were in our own home, part of the family. We both agreed we have never been looked after so well anywhere else we have ever stayed. Nothing is too much trouble for them and that is how it should be...so many times I have selected a hotel and expected the service to be of a high standard and more often than not the hotel is stunning but the service is poor...this is the first place I have stayed where the staff also had the wow factor. The resident chef is incredible..we had the best food in house than any restaurant we went to...the breakfast is incredible, the freshest orange juice, fruit salad, yoghurt, pastries, Morrocan pancakes, toast and eggs as you like them. Lunch varied every day and every day was delicious

As I said before I could go on...to sum Riyad Al Moussika up....It is a truley special place if I had the choice I would never have left. We were made to feel so welcome and looked after so well that we never had to ask for anything everything was thought of...I loved the place and was sad to leave. There is only one place to stay in Marrakech....Perfect.

Thank you so much to the hotel staff for making our stay unforgettable.

Hasan and his brother Allal , who manage the riad are lovely guys who could hardly have been more helpful , as were the rest of the staff .

It was so wonderful staying at the Riyad Al Moussika. In all the years that my husband and I have traveled around the world we have never quiet had such a happy and memorable experience as we did in this hotel. The two in charge Hassan and his brother Allal could not have been more generous and helpful of their time and efforts to make our experience in Marrakech so delightful and memorable. The two brothers and the rest of the staff made sure the time we stayed at the Riyad was pleasurable and all our needs met. The food was outstanding and I don't say that lightly , because it was so good we stayed in the Riyad for most meals... It was like staying in your own home away from home and everyone knows this would be a very hard act to follow. I have been telling everyone I know who may travel to Marrakech, there is only one place to stay and that is the "Riyad Al Moussika" and thats the only place to stay... Thank you so very much again!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Riad Al Moussika - For comfort, style and refinement. THE Riad experience in Marrakech! Situated in the ancient medina of Marrakech, five minutes walk from place Jemaa El Fna, the Riyad was once one of the residences of the former Pasha of Marrakech, Thami El Glaoui, and has been refurbished to a very high standard in the Andalucian style. One of the gates of Riyad Al Moussika opens on to a garden with old cypress trees soaring to the sky, a huge bougainvillea climbing across the pergolas, a swimming pool, in the centre or, more precisely, an Andalucian basin thirteen meters long, tiled with a mosaic carpet design. Here water falls from a white Carrara marble fountain to the songs of numerous small birds creating an idyllic scenario, in spite of being in the heart of central medina. A fireplace gives the winter evenings a cosy atmosphere, as do the impressive modern paintings, carpets, sofas and armchairs. There is a hi-fi system and an art deco Pleyel grand piano perfectly tuned for the pleasure of the guests. The Turkish bath or hammam in white marble with a relax room where, on request, a professional masseur can take care of the guests. There is a unique view of the medina and the Atlas Mountains from the two terraces that are sheltered partially with wooden pergolas and surrounded by large terracotta flower vases. Tables, comfortable armchairs with cushions and teak chaises-long allow guests to request breakfast and candle lit dinner, as well as to sunbathe during the day. On one of the terraces there is a pavilion with Moroccan sofas, cushions and lamps should some of the guests prefer a more intimate space. The resident Chef, Grand Diploma Cordon Bleu, has devoted his life to gastronomy and invites lovers of fine dining to experience his repertoire of Moroccan, Italian and French cuisine at the haute Cuisine riyad's Restaurant PEPE NERO. There are 4 double bedrooms, all with en-suite bathroom. All rooms have air-conditioning / heating system, telephone with external line, television with the major satellite channels (BBC, CNN etc.), Internet wireless connection is available and DVD in the music room. ... more   less
