“Nice rooms but service needs improvement”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

We stayed at the Amani for 7 nights in May and were very impressed with our rooms, especially my sister's room which had a nice little balcony overlooking the pool. The rooms were spacious, nicely decorated and kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay. The rooftop terrace is very nice also, and the decor of the reading room on the ground floor.

The reception staff were very pleasant and somewhat helpful when we asked for information; although we did feel that they didn't have an expansive knowledge of the area. The location of the hotel was also good; just a short taxi ride from the Medina area and with some shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Breakfast was not included in the price we paid for our rooms; it was a nice selection of breads and cakes served with coffee or tea, but more expensive than the local competition so we only ate breakfast on the lovely terrace twice during our stay.

Unfortunately we had an experience of bad service on our first evening when we went to the terrace and asked for 2 coca colas. We waited and waited, but after 20 minutes of waiting we went downstairs to the ground floor cafe. We were told that our cokes would arrive soon and so we went back up to the terrace again. After waiting a further 10 minutes or more I was so fed up that I went to get our cokes from the ground floor cafe myself and we drank these on my sister's balcony. Not a good start, but, as it was late and we'd only just arrived we decided to eat in the cafe, and the sandwiches we ordered were very nice, fresh and tasty.

Unfortunately our first night's experience in the cafe was not repeated the second time we decided to have a 'night in'. My Norwegian smoked salmon sandwich had been so nice the first time that we both ordered it the second time. However, this time there was hardly any filling in bread that was toasted so hard that we had trouble biting it, and the chips were stone cold.

The pool is very small, but despite its tiny size it looked extremely inviting. Unfortunately though, the water in it was far too cold to venture into so we never used it.

We asked for a late check-out on our last day since our flight home was late. We requested we be allowed to keep just one of the two rooms until 4p.m. but we were told there would be a charge for this. To be honest, we were quite disappointed as we'd been staying there for 7 nights and this would have been a nice thing to offer. We decided not to pay the charge and so left our rooms at the normal check-out time and at least they kept our bags safely behind reception until 5p.m., which we were grateful for.

All in all, this is a very pleasant hotel with nice rooms, kept spotlessly clean, but the pool and service do not meet the same standards.

We stayed at Amani for 5 nights in May 2014, we were well impressed with the room , size, hygine, facilities and the location, It is close to the train and bus stations, it is situated in very nice location, most attractions can be reached by taxi within 15 minutes from the hotel, at times we had food at the hotel and it was tasty compare to other places around, staffs were very friendly and helped us with everything that we opted for, over all it is good place to stay and well worth the money.

Room Tip: If you are not fuss about food then book the room with breakfast , you will have plenty of pastries...

I stayed at Amani hotel with 3 of my friends and I cannot fault the hotel! The staff are welcoming and helpful 24/7! They are always smiling and always willing to make your trip extra special. Breakfast is served wherever you would like it and always with a smile! The location of the hotel is excellent- restaurants nearby and only 20 min scenic walk to the famous Jema el fna square. We stayed here for 4 nights, then 5 nights (extended our trip!)- would highly recommend this hotel for a peaceful hassle free holiday- Hassna and Asia are two lovely ladies at reception who have excellent customer service skills. The rooms are clean, and wifi is available. Anyone going to Marrakech should definitely stay at this affordable, yet adorable hotel.

Have just returned from a 6 day stay at the Amani. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable (we had a senior suite), situated within pleasant surroundings. It is a fair walk from the Medina but has the advantage of guests being able to escape from the frantic, somewhat overbearing old town. There are a number of local restaurants nearby, within a 15 minute walk. The staff are helpful and friendly and the general standard of public areas is good. We chose not to take breakfast as we wanted a healthier, bran based breakfast than the pastires on offer from the hotel. Although we expected to have some limited cooking equipment, there was only a kettle. The photograph of the suite showing a cooker hood is correct, however, there is no hob or microwave below it! The hotels did supply 4 plates, knives, forks etc. In summmary, a hotel offering a good standard of accommodation at a good rate but perhaps the guests need to be fit and active to walk to the Medina, or be prepared to pay the inflated prices charged to tourists by the taxi companies.

Doing to get to the point, and saying I had a good stay at the hotel, from the staff to the location. Is that that far from old town and main areas where we went clubbing... Also a walking distance to KFC and Mc Donald's for the that quick bite to eat... I'd surely go back here! The staff that the hotel go out their way to help you and make sure you have a great time in the country! Thank you

We had 3'nights in this hotel, 9 of us. In general very happy with service, location etc. It was misunderstanding and we were waiting for transfer from airport to the hotel but no other problems at all. Clean rooms, very nice personnel. Although we had arrived very late, staff managed to make nice food for us. Highly recommended.

Part traditional Moroccan, part modern chic. Looks great, rooms good, staff can't do enough, food fabulous, pool area and roof terrace very nice. Wifi was fine. Easy to flag taxis outside plus only over half an hour or so to walk to the souks.

Only down-side for a Westerner is the lack of bar, but I'm sure you could find one in another local hotel if you really wanted to. Personally thought it a much, much better experience than the large international hotels that do have bars.

Room Tip: possibly slightly quieter pool side than front, but even at the front I personally didn't notice...
