“Disappointing”
Reviewed 28 October 2010

This was my first visit to Marrakesh for a good friends wedding and having stayed at the royal mirage in Dubai (and given the rates of the rooms), I was expecting a lot more. Sadly, the quality of accommodation does not (in my humble opinion), justify the rates they charge. We didn't visit during the peak season but the hotel was pretty much fully booked as my friend flew down all his close family and friends from Spain. In any case, the room we were allocated was very old fashioned (i.e. annoying hotel plug points, no flat screen tv, no safe, no iron/ironing board, tiny bathroom, worn furniture).

I'll try and be balanced in the review and mention that the room had a fairly spacious balcony with a spectacular view. Also, the lobby gave you the feeling that you were in Morocco so it had it's own unique charm (although all the furniture was again pretty dated and looked past it's replacement date).

Overall, my expectations were higher and taking into account the rates I was charged, I would rate the hotel as 'poor'.

This was my honeymoon!!!! We arrived at 1030 and were told our booking had been cancelled. 30 minutes later we were told check in was not till 3pm. We were told by reception they could get a room for us in 1 hour. This then changed to 1hr 30 minutes. After this time reception staff said 10 minutes which ended up being another 40 minutes. The hotel do not offer a currency change and will direct you to a bank, which we found at 1100hrs to be closed. Eventually we were located a room. The room is large inside with a safe you can pick up and walk away with and patio doors that you cannot lock. No Fire signs or maps located in the rooms. Minor things but the most awful thing about this hotel was the nightclub situated just below our room. I awoke to blaring music at 315am. I was advised by reception it would close at 4am. At 410 it was still going and reception said it would close at 430. the music stopped at 450. The night club is open every day of the week. At 0900hrs that morning I was awoken by the bin van sat outside my room for over 1 hour. We were moved to another room the following day which I was advised by reception was nicer????? It was the same. On my way to the room I tripped over some laminate flooring that had been left outside the lift. Reception were not interested. The patio doors in the room would not lock, the safe was moveable, and the coffee table was dirty and disgusting. Looking at something beside lack of customer care and housekeeping, the reception area is lovely. The pool is a nice size although no peace and quiet due to the main road running alongside it. Alcohol is very very expensive but I think this is the same in all hotels. We booked half board and have mixed reviews. The buffet meal on the first night was cold. We ate out the next night. The night after this the evening meal was from a menu and was very nice and hot. To be honest I was glad to leave this hotel, I was just waiting for something else to happen. There are much nicer cheaper hotels to visit. This hotel ruined my past good visits to Marrakesh. If you have booked this hotel I would seriously consider reviewing your choice.

After reading reviews on this hotel I didnt know what to expect but upon arrival, the hotel was amazing and far more that what i had expected, the staff were very friendly and couldnt do more to help you. The inside and outside of the hotel was gorgeous and very Morocon. From the moment we arrived the staff were constantly cleaning and keeping the hotel tidy. The breakfast each morning was great too, lots to choose from all fresh.

The room was a good size and very clean, 3 of us stayed in one room and we had 3 seperate beds (larger than a single) which was a nice suprise, expected maybe a sofa bed.

Location was great, within walking distance to the old and new town and only a 10 min drive from the airport. Found lots of nice places to eat just a short walk from hotel.

The only bad thing i can say about this hotel was the pigeons around the pool area and balcony. Apart from that i could not fault the hotel or sevice we received and would definatly go back to this hotel.

Dont listen to other reviews staff and hotel was fab!!

After reading previous reviews we were dubious, but we wanted a place close to the airport that was quick and easy to get to in the middle of the night. Arriving after a long flight, the reception staff were wonderful, the rooms fantastic, and our short stay went without a hitch. The bed was a bit too firm for us, but that was a common theme throughout Morocco and Spain, so nothing to complain about. We encountered not one of the problems listed by others.

Ok hotel with a great pool. Not very impressing breakfast considering it’s a 5 star hotel. OK room, but the lightening was to dark. It was difficult to read in bed. The shower cabinet had a serious leakage.
The people in the reception were nice and friendly, but completely paralyzed when they should cope with new problems. We tried to get back a blanket the maid surprisingly had removed. It took 12 hours and five reminders. In They were equally surprised every time we made a new enquiry.
The wireless Internet worked fine the first days, then it became impossible to connect. The reception insisted it had to be something wrong with my computer, even if it worked ok everyplace else but the hotel. We were refused to use one of the hotels computers to do necessary work. Quite incredible for a 5 star hotel.

lovely lobby - the best part of this hotel! swimming pool was large and warm - but constantly had pigeon feathers in it and pigeon pooh around it!

service was slow at breakfast - everything needed around 3 requests and poor quality of american style food for breakfast was not what we wanted - also limited choices! - irritating things like no spoons! no tea! were annoying when you have places to go!

bedrooms were rather tired not always clean and amazingly they ran out of toilet paper and we were supplied with boxes of tissues! - towel supplies for showers were erratic too!

door handles fell off as did a leg of furniture - some staff openly asked for large tips as it was rammadan!

having said all this - it was an ok stay and staff were friendly - would not go again and wished we had booked elsewhere! want to go back to marrakech but another hotel next time

we did not let this experience spoil our break - as it was more a 2/3 star then 5

LOCATION VERY GOOD

one down side was that we were charged a local tax which we were told expedia should have informed us off - for 5 of us for 4 nights it was just under £100 - other expedia guests from other eu countries had similar experience

It was quick decision to go to Morrocco , and we were advised by the FLIGHT CENTRE advisor to select ROYAL MIRAJ DELUXE . So we went along the his advise as he stated that he himself has visited and loved the hotel and the place.

It was a terrible place, we were put into a room where the A?C won't work. So after all night suffering they changed our children's room but of no use cos the AC in that room didnt work either. After fighting and screaming they changed again our rooms. Afer charging is their local charges of 50DH each person per night and we were 5 ppl.

Hotel smelled, tired looking fed up hotel workers absolutely waste of my money. Everyone hungery voultures after your money.

Markets were headaches, asking too much money and you would be wasred haggeling for a piece of pottery.

BE WARE DO NOT GO TO MOROCCO!!!!!!!!

There isnt ANYTHING to see there, not much for sightseeing, not many stores to buy water or anything else. Food is as expensive as UK.
