We intended to stay at the Riad for two nights marking the end of our stay in Morrocco. Arriving from Essaouira where we stayed at a most beautiful Riad, we were eager to see what the Riad Jonan had in store. We took a taxi to the street but the driver didn't know exactly where the Riad was located. Combing Rue Kasbah it was full of hustle and bustle. We decided to get out of the taxi and find it ourselves. After some tireless searching we managed to find it up some back alley way which was littered with children. We just didn't feel right when we came upon the entrance which was just a door with a little sign. When we went inside the Riad was old and dusty looking. The fountain was not working and we were told that we would be the only guests staying. The manager demanded that we settle our bill before the end of the day which was strange and made me suspicious. When we went to the room it was dark, small, and not living up to the pictures on the website. We didn't feel comfortable with the location, the fact that we would be the only guests and the shabby nature of the place. I asked my partner if we could find another hotel as I didn't want our holiday ruined. I didn't have a good vibe about the place. He agreed and we took a taxi to the Royal Mirage which was wonderful. For a slightly higher price we had peace of mind and luxury which was not delivered by the Riad.

We consider this review to be highly questionable ( even odd) as I will explain.
Firstly, most riads are just known by a door and a sign, what more? Some do not have any signs!
When this person arrived we offered mint tea and pastries as is usual, they curtly rejected this Which is a first and, very unusual however, They were asked to complete the hotel registration forms and to pay for their room as they had not paid any deposit or given any credit card details. They refused to do this until they had seen their room. They requested the least expensive room but due to the time of year we still offered them extra discount. making the price of this room only 45 gbp. The room was a standard first floor room with exterior window. They barely looked into the room when they decided they did not like it and promptly chose to leave the riad saying that wanted something
" Less authentic"
I was upset to read such a review, considering they never even stayed at the riad. The comments that it is old and dusty are just an imagination. The low mark for service, 1, is unfounded, as she did not have time to sample the service that most guests praise us for.
This person has been a member of Tripadvisor for over one year and yet the only review written in that time is a damaging opinion based on a few minutes in our riad. hardly fair or just. This person mentioned the hotel they stayed at as being wonderful, albeit, in a totally different area and not in the Medina but in the New town. I suggest you take a look at the reviews of this establishment which this person referred to as" luxury" as the majority of their reviews certainly do not agree with that comment, and compare them with Riad Jonan. Our reviews are constantly higher. I can only guess that on this occasion, a large modern hotel in the new town was preferred as opposed to the real atmosphere of a Traditional riad in the Medina.

I spent 4 nights with my girlfriend in Riad Jonan and we were delighted with every aspect of our accommodation. The hotel owners were extremely helpful both on the telephone before our trip and on our arrival. The staff were all wonderful throughout our stay - enthusiastic, polite and only too happy to help. Thanks so much to them. The Riad itself is beautiful as can be seen from its website. The terrace at the top is a great option if you want to eat outside, or have a relaxing place to read or to catch a bit of sun. The breakfast was of a really high standard every morning with a choice of cooked breakfast or homemade yoghurt, prunes and a gorgeous Moroccon sauce together with toast, croissants, juice and tea or coffee. It's possible to eat lunch or an evening meal there too, which we did on a couple of occasions. The traditional Moroccan 6 course meal was fantastic, but make sure you don't eat much else during the day. The location of the hotel is ideal too as it gave us an introduction to the more traditional feel of the city, whilst being within easy walking distance of the main tourist attractions. Definitely to be recommended.

This was our first trip to Marrakech and it was brilliant mainly due to our stay in the Riad Jonan Hotel. Everything about it was first class and the welcome and service we got was brilliant. We picked a deluxe room which was well worth the money. The food was excellent including the lite bites. We will definitely be back and have recommended it to all our friends

Just arrived back from a four night stay at Riad Jonan and would like to start with a big thankyou to the management and staff for making our visit to Marrakech such an enjoyable experience. Opted to take the airport transfer arranged by the riad and pleased that we did as the property would have been very difficult to find unless you are familiar with this part of the city. Would recommend this to future guests. Upon arrival we were greeted with a delicious and very welcome cup of mint tea and Morrocan pastries. We were then given a hand drawn map with directions to the main square along with other useful information to help us find our feet before being shown to our room. The Riad itself is ideally situated in the Kasbah area of the city just a 10 -15 minute walk from the square and the heart of the Medina were much the tourist interest lies. The walk from the Riad to the square is an adventure in itself. The atmosphere outside the Riad is buzzing, particularly in the evening, but step through the door and you are transported into a haven of peace and tranquility and a welcome respite from the continuous hustle and bustle that is Marrakech. The Riad is tastefully decorated in a traditional Morrocan style and the bedrooms are located around the central courtyard on two floors. There is also a lovely roof terrace which was great for an hours relaxation after a days sightseeing in the choas of the city. Breakfast was delicious and consisted of a selection of freshly squeezed orange juice, tea and coffee, omellete, scrambled eggs, yoghurt, cereal and pastries and was served in the central courtyard. The Management and staff were fantastic. Always on hand to offer help and advice if required, always pleasant and smiling but never obtrusive and nothing was too much trouble. We didn't actually have our evening meals at the Riad as the allure of the square with its snake charmers, monkeys, tattooists and performers was too great but would assume that the meals would have been to the same high standard as the rest of the accommodation. Riad Jonan is a great alternative to the often soulless tourist hotels. As we were leaving on an evening flight, were were even given full use of our room until we departed FOC. How many hotels chains would offer this level of sevice? Would highly recommend Riad Jonan to anyone visiting Marrakech and once again thanks to the management and staff for making our trip to Marrakech so special.

Driving into Rue Kasbah at 1900 was manic......typical Marrakech! Riad Jonan is a haven of what peace there is locally. Great first impression, with cool atmosphere and helpful staff. The rooms are small (normal) and our first had no external window and was very dark. This was similar to other rooms we saw and felt a little claustrophobic. The aircon was v.good and quiet. Friends upgraded to a larger room for extra £90/week, and this was much better. We took their first room which had a small external window and this provided a constant through draft. Food is good value, staff and management first class, talking French/English. They arranged the best tours of the week. Pleasant roof terrace. Walk of 500m to the square, a couple of nice restaurants and cafes within 200m. Well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Tombeaux Saddian is close and underwhelming.
