Highly recommended hotel giving you a taste off old Morrocco. Definitely go downstairs for a hammam and massage but ladies you have been warned, they go everywhere but worth it!

this hotel is maybe a 2 star. the decor in the rooms was totally offensive with the the most shockingly bad tiling job in the bathrooms i have ever seen, i think i could have picked them off the wall with my nails. the breakfast was awful, sweets and cakes and no replenishment when stuff ran out, if you didnt get there before 8 all the bread was gone and that was it. the pool only got the sun for 3 hours in the morning and that was it it if you wanted to sun bathe. it was very clean but glad i was only there for a few days and i am sure there are better places to stay for the price.

staff frendly and helpfull, breakfast could be better, dont use tours from hotel to atlas mountains charged 250 dh per person including dinner, but when you get there they charge you a further 120 dh, far better value with taxi.

Made welcome straight away. Staff very friendly and personable. Hotel extremely clean - basic but prices were basic. Good fun. Pay as you go so no nasty cash surprises at the end of the holiday.

Downside - AVOID, DEFINITELY AVOID youtravel reps. They are smiling sharks. We wanted to avoid the tourist trap and were well and truly bitten. Excursions are disappointing, touristy things that cost a fortune! We asked for a refund but suddenly the tour reps were scarce.

We had no complaints. One couple had a problem with air conditioning in their room but their situation was sorted straight away - in recompense they were moved to a more luxurious room immediately. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

After the other reviews posted, we were disappointed by this hotel. We agree with negative comments. The breakfast was poor or could have been better. Lack of fruit, chipped plates and cups not enticing. In end just had toast and coffee. It took a long time to replenish anything.

The rooms were basic and general view was that needed a refurbishment as they looked, felt tired and cramped. Thought room decor was a bit tacky and chintzy. Not sure why they needed a second bed in the room which took space up. Bathroom was functional but again could do with a refurb.

Wifi in reception helpful and we did not eat in evening so cannot comment on dinner.

We taxi'd into the main square costing 20 dhms but generally walked to restaurants/cafes in local area albeit a lot shut due to Ramadan.

Staff generally ok and on the whole helpful.

Hotel is set around a design of a moroccan riad, very colourful and ornate. The decor and interior is slightly dated but is kept very clean and nice. We stayed in a twin room, which was fine, beds were comfortable and air conditioning provided at no extra cost. the safe deposit box was a small fee (I think 20MAD per night which is about £1.50) and a fridge was available if required. The bathroom was ok, nothing flash. Overall fine, the biggest downfall of the room being the plumbing noises!! whenever someones toilet was flushed or taps turned on this was followed by a screeching / whining from the plumbing! rather amusing at first but after being woken up not so much!

the pool is nice, set in a courtyard. due to the walls around it, most of the sunloungers can be in shadow at some point in the day. However, due to the heat and strength of the sun, I found this a blessing to be able to duck away out of the sun. Also, plenty of sun was available if you picked the correct side of the pool and 'chased' the sun around if you need to catch rays! there was a pool attendant always present who was fairly friendly.

overall, the staff were very helpful and friendly. there was a receptionist who spoke excellent english, and the majority of the staff spoke english pretty well, and humoured attempts in french!

the hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the main square, which isn't too bad. just up the road (about 5 minutes away) is a small complex of shops and some restaurants (recommend cafe de la poste - fantastic!).

all in all good value and fairly welcoming. the breakfast is a bit pants but mostly because I don't really fancy cake or moroccan pastries for breakfast! otherwise ok.

On arrival at the moroccan house hotel you are greeted by an explosion of colourful mosaic and painted wood leading to the centre piece of the reception, a fountain.
The recieption was warm and friendly and we were booked in quickly and given a compemntary glass of mint tea and biscuits.

The room was a good size with a 4 poster double bed and a single 4 poster bed. The bathroom was large and clean but could have used some renovation as the tub and decor was a bit tired.
In the room there was aTV with English films (USA free channels and BBC world news), air conditioning that worked very well, a safe ( costs 30dm per day) and a fridge (costs 50dm for the stay). A beautiful coloured glass window looked out onto the main street, which was surprisingly quite given the chaos of Marrakech.
Rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard.

The swimming pool is a reasonable size and is in an enclosed courtyard. During our visit in July it was very sunny and hot from about 10am to 3pm when the sun moved to the front of the building. Whilst the pool was in the shade the temperature at the pool was still 35c.

Only had one meal in the hotel so can't really comment other than the food we had was well cooked and delicious.

The dinning room, used for evening meals looked like something out of the Arabian nights (in keeping with the hotel theme) with brighlty coloured sofa's and seats.

Breakfast is very basic with a good choice of bread, jams, biscuits, pancakes and generally sweet things.
Unfortunatley this wasn't to my taste however the choice was good and the food of good quality and quantity.
The balcony view was fantastic with great views of the sunrise and the distant Atlas mountains.

I felt that the Moroccan House Hotel was great value for money set in a perfect location away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets.
It is a 5 minute walk from the chaos of Mohammed the 5thnb avenue and is a long straight walkj down to the Medina (approx 45 mins).

Be prepared to haggle for evrything once you leave the hotel from Taxi's to sightseeing trips the original price qouted is never the final price that you should pay.
The hotel does offer to book sightseeing trips for you however we did not use this facility and so cannot comment on value for money.

If you like gleaming metal and glass in a modern hotel this is not the hotel for you.

I would recommend this hotel to anybody that likes something a bit different and quirky giving you a flavour of the Arabian nights in a peaceful setting.
