“Serenity in a Sea of Souks!”
Reviewed 27 November 2009

My wife and I spent a few days in Dar Anika in October. It was the first time I had been to Marrakesh - it will not be the last. From the moment we stepped inside Dar Anika to the moment we left, there was nothing but helpful advice, great service and, of course, a fantastic ambience! Dianne, Nigel and Nourredine could not have been friendlier! I especially would recommend the cooking lesson with Habiba - select your menu, go to the local market with Habiba and Nigel, buy your food - then go and watch/help Habiba at work. later on have it served to you on the rooftop terrace - fantastic! Our room was nice - with a little private 'garden area' off it. As soon as you stepped inside the hustle and bustle of the souks, streets and vendors fell away. perfectly placed - only about 5-10 minutes to the main square, accessed though a lovely little street. Found a great local spice market - where I bought loads of spices for very little! all in all a superb place to stay - and a very nice email from Dianne and Nigel to check we had arrived home safely - a nice touch!

This little gem sits on a street not far from the Medina and its many attractions.the Riad is beautifully appointed with sumptious luxury. The food was the best we ate during our stay. The breakfasts on the roof were like eating in an oasis whlist Marrakech bustled and haggled all around. Excellent so far, but the most enjoyable experience was the friendly and helpful team led by Diane and Nigel, who were not just hosts, but more like "old friends" welcoming us into their beautiful home.We cannot recomend this Riad too much. Go there and enjoy the experience, its worth is more than these few words.

I cannot express how lovely Dar Anika is, the usual expressions would be a waste, Ladies travelling I could not fault the establishment, Di & Nigel fantastic hosts, who even put up with a group of Aussie ladies, who where a bit jadded by the time we reached Marrakesh, and just made us feel so welcome. A big surprise rooms large, clean and everything worked, and no funny noises from the electric applicances( I got familiar with the buzzing of light switches on the trip, aircons that didnt work etc) The staff excellant could not fault them pleasant, and could understand. Meals fabulous too much for 'this little black duck'. The privacy, that alone time we all need on a trip especially the VEG DAY, where all you want to do is have a swim, curl up in the tent on the roof, and read. Lovely place. Dont be scared 'Have a Go'

Spent one week on a desert trip with my 14-year old daughter. Started out and finished in Dar Anika, and was very glad every time we came "home" to this peaceful and beautifully decorated place. The pool and the lounge offered an opportunity for rest and some quiet reading after shopping and sight-seeing. An absolute relief after some other hotel-experiences of mediocre quality.

Service with a smile and sinerity. Nothing was a trouble, actually management and staff went out of there way to ensure our stay was relaxing and enjoyable.
Our room was fantastic. Clean, comfortable beautifully decorated. The swiming pool was truly refreshing after a day of exploring the maze of laneways near by. The Raid was close to lots of resturants and mrakets within a safe walk.
It didnt take long to feel like home!

Some friends and I are are just back from having a fantastic break at Dar Anika and we can't recommend it enough. The riad is a lovely oasis of calm and beauty just off the bustling streets. All the staff at the hotel did everything they could to make our trip fantastic from recommending great local restaurants to organising a trip to the atlas mountains and you got the feeling that there was no problem that they wouldnt help you solve if you asked. It wasn't intrusive though - just there to help if you wanted it.. I have never had such great service anywhere in a hotel.

Our room was lovely, the hammam/massage were great experiences and not to be forgotton and the copious supply of mint team and indoor pool all came together to add up to a great break.

I can't recommend it enough - worth every penny!

As mother and 17 year old daughter travelling to Marrakech alone for the first time we were a little nervous but all our fears were allayed at the Riad Dar Anika.

The Riad is excellently run by a lovely English couple who clearly know how to make guests feel safe, comfortable and at home. The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. Inside the riad it is very quiet. None of the noise from outside was audible except for the regular calls to prayer which are amplified throughout the city. The air conditioning is also extremely quiet. The information pack helpfully provided a map and list of monetary exchange values The freshest bread and fruit were delicious for breakfast. Breakfast was served throughout the morning so we were under no pressure to get up earlier than we wanted to. Every single member of staff was polite, helpful and friendly. The Riad is beautifully decorated in a Moroccan style which we would have liked to bring home. It is a five minute walk down one straight road to the Jmaa el Fna square, and also very close to the Badii and Bahia Palaces. There are good restaurants and two ATMs very close by.

There is a very pleasant sun terrace and small enclosed swimming pool. Sunbathing and swimming were therefore clearly an option but the pool is small and the Riad is so close to the activity and life of Marrakech that we were not tempted to do so.
