our 4 night stay at riad ariha was amazing. for the price it was an amazing piece of luxury at a low price for the backpacking type. After camping across europe we (young couple) wanted to spend the few extra bucks in morocco for some luxury and riad ariha provided it excellently.

everything was perfect. the room was bright, very clean, with air conditioning which was useful considering it was close to 50 degrees C outside each day and the plunge pool really let you cool down after walking the medina all day.

it's set in a neighbourhood where real moroccans live but a short walk into the heart of the medina and a 20 min walk or 5 min cab to the main square.

The staff were excellent. The owners were amazingly helpful as were the staff who always had a smile on their faces and nothing was ever too much fun.

i think the riad was the best thing about our stay in marrakesh.

Also there is a purfume store just up the road, be sure to check it out the man does the best home made imitations of over 150 name purfumes and they smell exactly the same and cost about 3 bucks.

if your going to marrakesh Riad Ariah is a great place to stay, the owners are opening another riad soon too so if you can't get in here try that one, i bet it will be just as good.

Aaah lovely riad ariha!!! Amazing little riad tucked away in the heart of the medina, but within easy walking distance to the souks & the djemna el fna once you get your bearings. Beautiful clean rooms, very helpful staff, great breakfast.........a little slice of moroccan heaven, I'd highly recommend it.

Riad Ariha - A beautiful, great value riad which is incredibly hospitable and features kind, professional, efficient service.

I felt truly at home there. I've been lucky enough to stay at many, many hotels all over the world ranging from grotty English bed & breakfasts to very smart Indian Ocean hotels and I've never felt more welcome or comfortable. Not just the physical comfort of the rooms and courtyard but the fantastically relaxed feel of the place which never compromised the quality or discretion of the staff. The generous advice on offer in what is a baffling place for the first-time visitor was priceless and consistently reliable.

The evening meals, which they make on request, were the best I had in Morocco and to top it all, the place has been beautifully restored in a classy, stylish way with pleasing attention to detail and is lovingly maintained and faultlessly clean.

A lovely riad well-located in the north of the old city, conveniently close to the centre but away from the hustle and bustle. The staff were exceptional; they were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant stay. Rooms were scrupulously clean and the rooftop terrace was a great place to relax in the evening. Bedroom was a little small but well laid out and the bathroom was spacious. A calm and soothing haven to return to after a day in the busyness of Marrakech.

This was our first visit to Marrakech and we were delighted we choose Riad Ariha for our accommodation. From our arrival to our departure, we enjoyed our stay at this wonderful Riad. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and Amina and Abdul who manage the Riad for the owner Barbara did everything they could to make our stay an enjoyable one.

Our first trip out was to be to Jemaa El Fna Square and the streets and alleyways outside the Riad can at first appear confusing and a little daunting but Abdul quickly supplied a map and showed us the most easy route and we had no problems finding it. Over the next few days we gained our 'Marrakech' legs and were soon able to find way around easily.

We wanted to experience the countryside beyond the city itself and Amina was able to advise us about possible locations for day trips. We decided to go to the beautiful Ourika Valley in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains and had a wonderful day. Amina organised the grand taxi and Mustapha the driver. With a mix of a little english and french, he was able to point out many of the various landmarks along the route. Once at the end of the valley and we had taken lunch, Mustapha took us on a walk up the hillside to see the first of seven waterfalls that cascade down the mountain. Mustapha you are an excellent safe driver and a real gentlemen.

The Riad is situated in the 'real medina' away from the mass of hotels and is ideal for the independent traveller who wants to get a feel for the local people and their way of life. Superbly restored, the Riad is very comfortable and excellent value for money. The terrace in particular is a great place to relax at the end of the day. We had a wonderful time there and very much look forward to returning one day.

This little place was one of the best we have stayed at in all our travels. We normally look for accommodation with good location, is priced reasonably and preferably has some ambiance (as opposed to the large impersonal hotels). Riad Ariha surpassed our expectations!

We always felt the Riad was a calming haven coming from the frenetic Jemaa El Fna or the souks. It is a beautifully restored building and the staff made the place always look lovely with candles in the evening and beautifully laid meals. It can be a little noisy at times but its a small price to pay for staying among the people of old Medina, walking distance from central square.

In particular we found Amina the most wonderful hostess. She was very knowledgeable of things to do in the area and could recommend as well as arrange bookings (Hamman's, trips out to the mountains, restaurants etc). In Marrakech local knowledge is invaluable! She has a lovely nature and her delightful friendly smiles were appreciated.

We felt all the staff would go to lengths to make you more comfortable.

I would recommended Riad Ariha to all we know visiting Marrakech.

I feel I must write to defend the lovely Amina and Abdul, I really can't believe the rant given by a previous reviewer! We stayed at Riad Ariha for three nights, our welcome was lovely, met from the airport by the friendly Mustapha, portered from the taxi rank , welcomed by a smiling Amina with refreshing mint tea and home made bisciuts. Our room ( first floor) was spotlessly clean, quiet and very comfortable, the shower room was fine ( if the lighting a little dim!)
We had pre ordered lunch which was delicious and served on a rose petal strewn table in the beautifully peaceful courtyard, afterward we napped in the warm sunshine on the blissfull roof terrace, where we were brough more mint tea.
No lock was no problem, there is only one door into the riad and that was always locked.
Amina proved invaluable in advising and booking restaurants for us, organising a taxi to take us into the high Atlas for a day, arrangeing the hamman which was great fun and a very decent massage, breakfasts were lovely. Yes it is off the beaten track but that way you really feel that you are experiencing the real Marrakech, yes we got lost and yes some very keen youngsters were more than happy to show us the way for a few DH!
But where Amina really showed her commitment to customer care was on our last day when I unfortunatly succumbed to food poisoning ( don't eat cous cous in the mountains!) Even though we were checking out that day and the room was booked that night, Amina insisted that I stay in bed until mid day, brought me herbal tea in my room, and left me snoozing on the roof terrace for the afternoon whilst directing my husband on where to go to finish our last minute shopping.
Amazing friendly service that you would never receive in a bigger hotel.
Thankyou to ALL the fantastic staff at Riad Ariha for a wonderful experience!! Great value for money , We will be back!!
