“A hidden gem offering great value for money and tranquility away from the real hustle and bustle of Marrakech.”

Be aware that most Riads are approached along winding alleys, and this is no exception. BUT do not be put off as these alleys are used by many people at all times of the day and night and they are light. The tranquitity of this riad in the heart of the northern Medina is well worth the little walk. The staff in the riad are friendly and helpful. If you want anything you only have to ask. We can highly recommend the dinner especially if you make your own order. The lamb is delicious. Relaxing in the court yard sipping mint tea during the day or sitting next to the open fire drinking wine after a busy and tiring excursion into the city is sheer bliss. This is a very reasonably priced riad so you can not expect luxury but you can expect cleanliness, value for money and a friendly welcome.
If possible walk every where as you really feel the atmoshere of the city. You can walk from one side to the other in about 45 mins but do be careful of the mopeds! ! Also try to stand firm against all the offers of help to direct you, unless you are really lost, which is actually rare, as there will ask for money. Remember the average wage is 15 euros a day so a small tip is more than adequate.
A trip to the Atlas Mountains is well worth making. Try to go as part of a group as it is cheaper and more fun. Stout shoes and a stout heart may be needed as you may have to struggle over difficult terrain. But two 60 year old managed!
Enjoy but remember this is a very different way of life.

We spent two nights at Riad O2. We appreciated it's strategic location close to the souks, restaurants and the new city. It's a little bit remote from Jema El'fna but a much better neighbourhood. The staff is helpfull and friendly. The overview of the area maps at arrival was very usefull and enable a much better experience of the old city than during our previous visit.

The Riad is very atmospheric at night and quiet (like any Riad, this depand on large part on the guess).

The spa was much too hot but staff ajusted the temperature when requested. Internet was not working when we were there.

We liked the riad very much. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was nice and clean and the service and the food were great.

The only thing that could have been a little better was the light in our room. It was a bit to dark for reading comfortably, but it was not a big problem and we will not hesitate to use your riad another time or recommend it to other.

Riad O2 were very friendly and kind. The room was decorated really tastefully and the building was amazing with a lovely roof terrace. This is in the heart of the medina down some dark alleys though so this is not the place to go if you want ultra-clean, american style accommodation. If you want that then stay in the new town.

If you want an authentic, friendly service in the heart of it and don't mind the occasional fly or piece of dust then this place is perfect. I wouldn't hesitate in staying there again.

Our stay was lovely. We arranged a transfer to ensure we were met and safely delivered to the Riad, after reading that it was a bit hard to find. Very glad we did - we'd never have found it on our own (though there was no shortage of people who would have shown us for a few dirham!).

The staff were extremely welcoming on arrival and throughout the stay. We were sat down with some delicious mint tea and provided with maps and guidance on how to get to the main square almost as soon as we walked through the door (invaluable as it's very easy to get lost in the Medina). We actually only got lost once in the whole 4 days (and that was at 11pm on our arrival day when we took a wrong turn on our way to the main square – ended up in the souk (which closes at 10pm - which essentially entails various passageways being closed off with doors, turning the whole place into a labyrinth! Great story though!!).

Our room was spotless. The beds are hard, but that's good for your back, right?! And there are plenty of cushions and pillows. The jacuzzi was lush - definitely a must if you're travelling with a partner or spouse as you can literally closet yourself in there (with a nice bottle of wine, if you plan ahead!).

There are various trips you can do from the Riad, with their assigned drivers Isham & Aziz (both of whom speak excellent English, which cannot be said of a lot of drivers you are assigned if booking trips online - French being the default language for most).

All in all, if you are looking for somewhere nice to stay in the Medina, with all of its sights and smells (not all pleasant!!), then Riad O2 is a good choice.

We have travelled to over 60 countries and we have never stayed in a Riad before but let me explain why I give this Riad a low rating. The location is difficult. It is in a maze of small alleys and you have to quickly know which turn you took in order to make your way to and from the Riad. Many of the alleys are dead ends and a few are covered over so a person has to constantly be aware of where you are located. The location is also quite far from the main square and there are no restaurants in the area.
The room we had required work.. One of the matresses should definately be replaced as it sagged badly in the middle. The shower should be redone as the cement work is giving way. There are water stains on the main room ceiling and wall. The shower drain could not handle the water so we had to use very little water to shower or the bathroom floor flooded.. The toilet bowl is in a small closet so if you have long legs it is difficult to use it.
Noise does travel readily throughout the building so if you have people up early or going to bed late, you can hear them .
The staff were great and helpful. They spoke Arabic and French but we were able to communicate quite well ( sometimes with humour).
Also be aware of pick pockets as one of the guests lost his cash when in a crowd. He was bumped and his cash was taken.
The breakfasts were set and very basic ;and were too sweet for us.
Make certain you negotiate and be firm with any of the taxi drivers as they will demand more money from you.
There are also a number of touts around who will direct you and walk with you and even though you say you do not need a guide and will not pay them, they persist and I was grabbed by the arm by one and another repeatedly rang our door bell.

We loved our stay at Riad O2 - it was a perfect quiet haven in the middle of busy Marrakesh.
We didn't have the best of weather during our visit so we were at the riad quite a lot but we loved how peaceful and calm it was and how easy it was to just relax and unwind.
For a first time visitor to Marrakech the medina is difficult to navigate and a little overwhelming but Moad made the experience so much easier. He was very resourceful on a couple of occasions when we needed some help; very chamrming and accommodating and, as an added bonus for us, his English was excellent. He really made us feel welcome and well looked after.
We would definitely recommend Riad O2 to anyone who didn't mind being a bit outside of the centre of the medina and who can cope with how tranquil - almost monastic - the atmosphere is. It was perfect for us!
Thank you very much for our stay.
