This the second time I have visited Dar Cahrkia;the first time 3 years ago..and the experience was exactly the same..Their standards are just as good now.I wouldnt want to visit marrakech unless I could rely on Lisas and Michaels help..as it can be a little scary...They helped us pack in as much as possible on our short stay..so no bad experiences..i am a discerning traveller and my standards are high..The riad is amazing value for money..an oasis..We had the help of a guide;romantic dinners, and a full day in the mountains..everything organised ahead by Lisa and Michael..They seem to have everything at their fingertips..
We stayed in their suite;which was so special..Although i have visited many other riads and hotels in Marrakech.I would stay in Dar Charkia every time..

Room Tip: the suite is worth the extra money

We stayed at Dar Charkia for four nights, and had the opportunity to stay at the Douiria Suite and the Sa'ada Suite. Both are beautifully appointed and convey a welcoming and warm feeling. We were greeted by Michael when we arrived, and he spent over an hour with us, laying out itineraries for the coming days. This was very helpful in enjoying our stay in Marrakech. The staff were amazing and catered to our every request - late breakfasts on the roof, mint tea at midnight, etc - with grace and a smile. Rashid, the night watchman, deserves a special mention for his cheerful attitude and his helpfulness.

If you I'm looking for a Riad with a great location, warm and friendly owners and clean, delightful rooms, this is your Riad!
We had a fantastic trip to Marrakesh and it was amazing to stay here. Wonderful rooms, delicious breakfast too! Its hard to describe the lovely feeing that you get, stepping in the front door, from all the hustle and bustle of the streets into the calm tranquillity of this beautiful Riad. The owners and staff are extremely helpful, and friendly, and we would definately return here again!

Dar Chakia really is the most glamorous, relaxing, and beautiful place I have ever stayed. The calm, warm ambience is unrivaled especially after you enter from the hustle and bustle of the Medina. The staff are so welcoming and warm, and will do anything to ensure their guests are comfortable. The rooms and little spaces around the riad are so sumptuously decorated I could have just sat for hours enjoying the sound of bird song, sipping a mint tea and taking in the gorgeous interiors. I think it was the attention to detail in every single area that makes Dar Charkia so amazing. Thank you to Michael and Lisa, you really have created the most perfect place to stay in Marrakech.

There's something beautiful, intriquing or quirky everywhere you look in this riad. From impressive tapestries on the beds and shiny morrocan tadelakt on the walls to mosaic mirrors and modern art canvases. If you like art, design or photography you're in for a treat.
And if this is your first trip to Morocco this is probably the best place for you as the owners and staff are really helpful, welcoming and knowledgable.
We found the map they supplied with handwritten tips - such as "this place has a clean wc" invaluable!
We were there for a week and took advice on where to eat (the ladies Co-operative restaurant was particularly good)and a day trip arranged by Lisa and Micahel with a local driver called Mustafa who took photos for us and warded off the few pushy trinket-sales guys.
It's also worth having a meal or two at Dar Charkia as the food there is excellent - especially the cauliflower soup with truffle oil and the lemon tarte. The breakfasts are great too.
Be careful with the taxi drivers near the riad - some of them are maniacs. We found more pleasant ones if we walked along to the bank. In general the more decrepit their car, the worse driver they seem to be!!
We would agree with all the other great reviews on Dar Charkia. It's an isle of peace and hospitality in a sea of slightly manic but always fascinating marrakechi-ness!

My husband and I visited Dar Charkia for my 40th birthday. I have always wanted to go to Marrakech and am so pleased we chose to stay at this beautiful riad. Michael gave us a great pep talk on our first morning about getting around and places to go visit and see and where to eat. Lisa's shopping trips were invaluable and we made full use of them!! The map Lisa provides is great and better than any guide book. The riad's location is pefect and you can walk everywhere.
All the staff are amazing and cannot do enough for you and they made our 4 days there very, very special!
We would go back in a heartbeat and we have already recommend to our friends who are visiting Marrakech in a couple of months.
Amazing times!

I have just returned from the most incredible weekend at Dar Charkia for my hen party. We're not your typical hen party before you get nervous - but 30 plus well traveled girls looking for some sun and relaxation in serene surroundings......and Dar Charkia made the whole weekend absolutely perfect.

The great pictures don't even do this riad justice - the orange tree adorned with magical lanterns, the curiosities from around the world so tastefully placed around the riad, the caring and attentive staff, the delicious homemade food (the best brownie and tagine I've ever had), the little details that make all the difference.......petals in the shower....And most importantly, the most kind and caring owners, Lisa and Michael.

Having traveled extensively, I don't think I've ever come across such nice people who take so much care in making your stay incredible. Months before our stay, Lisa worked night and day to create itineraries, arrange taxis, table booking and I reckon she even had a say in making the weather nice and hot too! Lisa wasn't in the country for our stay but Michael then stepped in to look after us all wend giving us local tips and making sure everything went like clockwork.

I can't recommend this riad enough.....I kinda don't want to as I want it to stay our little secret but Lisa and Michael deserve for so many others to go and enjoy their magnificent riad.

Room Tip: All of them are great!
