I have travelled to Morrocco with other 2 girls and was a little worried about security and being onyl girls in an Arabic country. We have choosen Dar Charkia from the internet was a little nervous about it as it was our first time. Michael and Lisa (the owners) are just wonderfull as well as all the other staff at Dar Charkia. We have been nicely welcomed and briefed upon arrival. Everyday we have been made sure to enjoy the most of Marrakesh. The excursion and restaurant recommendations are just perfect. The rooms are nicely decorated and very cosy. All amenities that you might require are provided. We have felt very protected and safe. One day we were out of Marakesh for a day trip with Marco (our lovely guide-recommended by Michael) and we were supposed to be back at the hotel by 5 o'clock, but we have decided to tour in the city after our return. Michael has called Marco to check where we were around 6 o'clock. I am almost sure Michael and Lisa dont sleep till they learn all the guests are back in their rooms:) What can I say, you need to experience to understand. Dont miss the change if you can.

I stayed at Dar Charkia in March for 5 days. Coming from freezing UK, it was pure bliss to be able to have breakfast outside on the roof in temperatures equal to our summer! But weather or no weather, this riad would be reason enough to spend time in Marrakech. If ever you had a picture in your mind of the perfect hotel, this would be it: friendly and attentive staff, gorgeous bedrooms with massive bathrooms, deluxe courtyard, huge roof space with intimate nooks and crannies, great food and a lovely vibe.

During the day, the place is chilled and relaxing but in the evening there's a refreshing buzz in the courtyard where guests dine or have a drink before going out. The owners mingle with their guests making everyone feel quite special. We stayed in one night we were having such a good time there. The kitchen does fantastic food!

In a city as busy as Marrakech, Dar Charkia was a welcome relief. At the start, we were given an introduction by the owners. To have that insider knowledge of such a hectic place proved invaluable.

I was there for my birthday and it made my year to stay here. Don't bother even looking at the other riads and hotels. Just book your time here.

Wow! Dar Charkia is a hidden gem in the Medina. We have just spent 3 nights at Dar Charkia celebrating a friends birthday. Lisa and Michael are the most wonderful hosts and couldn't have done more to make us feel more at home. Dar Charkia has the most peaceful and tranquil atmosphere and you are surrounded by amazing interiors and decor. It's incredible to think that life carries on outside in the Medina when you are in such a beautiful and calm oasis. Lisa gave us all her expert knowledge on the souks, the restaurants and bars and anything we asked of her. She arranged escorts, drivers, booked restaurants and outings for us which was fantastic. She took us on a shopping expedition around the souks which was a great experience. My only regret being I didn't buy more!! At least I have an excuse to go back - not that I need one. Breakfast at Dar Charkia was a feast on the roof terrace each morning. The staff are friendly and very attentive. At Dar Charkia we felt part of the family and it felt like the most amazing house party. I can't wait to go back and I am definitely spreading the word to all my friends.

My husband and I recently spent 2 days at the wonderful Dar Charkia. This riad is a delightful elegant retreat in the old town. The hosts Michael and Lisa are welcoming and full of useful advice to thoroughly enjoy your stay in Marrakech. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing a delicious dinner our first evening and great breakfast.Lisa recommended a gastronomic dining experience at a nearby riad and it lived up to its promise. We will certainly be back.

We got home last night after a fab 2 nights at Dar Charkia for my sisters birthday celebrations. Wonderful staff and the owners offered a really relaxed and personal service - we were made to feel very at home. Rooms were beautifully decorated and food and service excellent. Went shopping with Lisa (owner) and had great fun bartering under her guidance in the Souk. Enjoyed breakfast on the roof terrace, evening drinks in beautiful surroundings and perfect service and lots of tips and advice on how to make the most of our short stay. We loved it! Would go back tomorrow - a very grown up and civilised trip - we left our children at home!

My husband and I stayed at Dar Charkia for three nights in April. We stayed in two different rooms, both of which were lovely. Staff was vey nice, as were the owners, Michael and Lisa. Michael gave us a great intro to Marrakech - laying out where things were on a map, how to get to places easily (or scenically, if that's what we wanted) and when to hit certain sites. He even showed us where his barber is and my husband got great shave from him before we left!

Bed was comfy and bathrooms were roomy and full of hot water - yum! Nice little plunge pool in the courtyard, although it was too cool to fully immerse oneself while we we were there. The courtyard was covered while we were there, which was a shame, as I would have loved for it to have been open. We had dinner at the riad one night, which was absolutely delicious - it was my favorite meal of the whole trip, and we'd had some good ones! Breakfasts were delicious as well.

The riad can arrange anything for you - guides, shopping trips, etc. They arranged for a car to take us to our hotel in Casablanca, which was fab. Overall, a great place to stay while in Marrakech!

As our flight was delayed we arrived at the riad 2.30am to be met by Abdul from the taxi. We followed him down the alleys to the lovely riad. It is a peaceful place in this mad, manic city. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much bother for them from making us tea to getting a boy to walk us to the tanneries!! Lisas advise was spot on from knowing how much a taxi fare would be to were the clean toilets were. Very important to us females! Breakfast was great - served on the rooftop - we especially liked the pancakes. We had a great day in the mountains with Marco our guide. Thoroughly recommend it. Lisa booked a table for us at the Jad Mahal and we had the best steak and also enjoyed the bellydancers. We never made it to Le Bis restaurant as our taxi driver took us to 2 different Hotel Ibis - after 45 mins in the taxi we dined in McDonalds!! Make sure you get addresses for the restaurants you are going to. We also really enjoyed the souks - great experience and good fun. We came home with a lot of shopping. We had a ball in Marrakech and would recommend the riad to everyone.
