Just spent a wonderful 4 days in Marrakech and can't rate this riad highly enough. All previous reviews say it all - it really is that good. The riad is beautifully decorated and gives off an air of serenity - after a busy day haggling in the souks it was a delight to come back to. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. Our hosts Lisa and Michael were very welcoming and made it feel it more like staying in their home than a hotel - nothing was too much trouble for them.

If you are thinking of going to Marrkech then definitely stay at this Riad - you will not be disappointed.

I really can't rate this place highly enough. Very tatseful decor, superb service from some of the friendliest staff i have experienced, and the owners, Lisa and Michael are an absolute delight. Their knowledge of Marrakech means that whether you are a second citizen of Marrakech or have never been before than can advise and give you tips that are really invaluable. Absolutely superb.

Dar Charkia is a very lovely place to stay. You feel right at home, the first thing my little brother told me when we arrived " This is the best hotel ive ever been" and it is. The owners of Dar Charkia, Michael and Lisa created a place where you feel safe, secure and welcome and complete it all with a lovely staff who are always there for you.

As soon as the thick wooden door of Dar Charkia closes behind you, you realise what riads were built for. Dar Charkia offers peace, safety and great comfort in the middle of the wonderful, exotic madhouse that is Marrakech. Owners Michael and Lisa create a lovely atmosphere, they have a good (almost middle eastern) eye for details and they take good care of people who are completely new in town. They share adresses and sensible advise. Lovely breakfast and a very friendly staff.

We have just returned from our Honeymoon and stayed in paradise, already i want to return. Dar Charkia is such an amazing Riad and the owners Lisa and Micheal in such a short space of time have become very special to us, enabling us to have the most wonderful time. Nothing is too much trouble for them and anything that we asked for or any advice or help that we needed was kindly given to us. We especially loved the shopping trip with Lisa in the Amazing Souks, even hubby had a great time which is a miracle as he refuses to shop anywhere at home, only the local DIY store. We enjoyed breakfast on the stunning roof terrace the first day and could of happily stayed up there all day just chiiling. we loved the crazyness of Marrakech, the locals are so warm and friendly, my hubby got offered 5000 camels for me his Princess which i thought was a bargain, but all jokes aside we felt totally safe and at ease. The Douira Suite was sooo huge and the bed so comfy also beautifully furnished. We will really miss the fantastic staff especially Samia and Abdul who were always so attentive, I could sit here and write all day about how wonderful Lisa, Micheal and Dar Charkia are but have five children to collect from school. A big hello to all the lovely couples who we met staying the same time as us. I am going back for my 40th birthday so roll on 2011. Visit Lisa and Micheal and there wonderful Riad you wont be disappointed.

Great place to stay....extremely clean, friendly atmosphere, safe and it is more than a riad...It was the first time staying in one of the riads and was a great experience..If you go to a country like Morocco , leave all your 5 star hotel stubbornesses behind and experience staying in Dar Charkia to experience the real touch of Marrakesh. I want to give my big thanks for that to Michael and Lisa(the owners) and to all, helping them..
They were great from the first moment we landed to the city.

Before settling into our room (Mali), Michael planned our daily trips and showed us the places to shop and to eat...We would not be able to find the places by ourselves..

We were well taken care of.. Michael was controlling every step we take when we were in the daily tours by calling the tour guide..He had no obligation to do so...Many many thanks to all your team...Including Abdul, the girls cleaning and cooking for us..

Definetely Value for the money.....

I have travelled to Morrocco with other 2 girls and was a little worried about security and being onyl girls in an Arabic country. We have choosen Dar Charkia from the internet was a little nervous about it as it was our first time. Michael and Lisa (the owners) are just wonderfull as well as all the other staff at Dar Charkia. We have been nicely welcomed and briefed upon arrival. Everyday we have been made sure to enjoy the most of Marrakesh. The excursion and restaurant recommendations are just perfect. The rooms are nicely decorated and very cosy. All amenities that you might require are provided. We have felt very protected and safe. One day we were out of Marakesh for a day trip with Marco (our lovely guide-recommended by Michael) and we were supposed to be back at the hotel by 5 o'clock, but we have decided to tour in the city after our return. Michael has called Marco to check where we were around 6 o'clock. I am almost sure Michael and Lisa dont sleep till they learn all the guests are back in their rooms:) What can I say, you need to experience to understand. Dont miss the change if you can.
