This riad definately deserves the high reviews given. The staff are totally attentive without being intrusive and always had a smile and a cheerful word. We were picked up from the airport and also transported to the coach station and picked up again all at no extra cost. I have no hesitation in recommending this as a wonderful place to stay in Marrakesh. Just go and enjoy

Firstly I'd just like to say that overall our stay lived up to the reviews that have generally been posted already. The Riad is beautiful, comfortable and clean with very pleasant staff. We were made to feel so welcome and relaxed. Nothing is too much trouble and there is exactly the right balance between being keen to provide services without being at all intrusive.

One or two have pointed out the slightly daunting location which is true. There is a bit of a walk through a couple of narrow alleyways which some people might not fancy at night, but probably wouldn't bother an experienced traveller.

The only downside to our stay was when we used the Riad for booking trips. We went there without a firm plan of what we wanted to see and do, which was a mistake. We ended up booking a guided tour of the city, a trip to the Atlas mountains and an evening meal out.

The city tour was very enjoyable and I would recommend it. The guide was good company and showed us all we wanted. He did take us into souks run by people that he seemed to be friendly with but it was no problem - they weren't too pushy. If you do this tour just make sure you have plenty of cash because you will need to pay extra if you want to go into any buildings.

The evening meal out was a bit of a shock. When we sat down, we got the menu and then realised that the meal was going to end up costing us over eighty pounds. It was a nice place but to be honest I wouldn't want to spend that on a meal in Britain and was hoping for a fairly cheap night out. So if you want the Riad to book a place to eat then make sure you tell them your budget.

The next day we went on a trip to the Atlas mountains. A day away from being hassled into buying things....or so I thought. The guide asked us what we would like to do and I said we'd let him decide - after all he was meant to be our guide. That was a mistake because it took 3 hours to get to the mountains, due to him stopping off at shops on the way! When we finally got to the mountains we were told we would be guided to the waterfalls...for a further 200Dh. We paid up because we'd been driving for so long and there seemed to be nothing else to do there. So again my advice would be to plan ahead so you can tell the driver what you want to see.

We had a great time at the El Mansour The staff were fantastic – friendly, helpful recommending great restaurants and arranging bookings and taxis to get us there.

The top floor is a great suntrap acting as an oasis of calm from the manic and exciting city. Here we would have the delicious and substantial breakfasts (although any style of eggs ordered, seemingly inevitably, appeared in the form of an omelette) as well as lounging around in the afternoon. It was also here where the evening meals were served. These were good although, like Marrakech as a whole, not cheap. It was during this meal we first sampled the delights of, what I assume is an acquired taste, Pastilla. No blame on the El Mansour as I imagine what we got to be a perfectly good example of the local chicken cake?!

An example of the great staff occurred one evening when, whilst having a drink, we asked if they had any playing cards. Before we knew it someone had hotfooted it out in to the city and has bought us back two packs.

I can’t imagine a more suitable hotel for Marrakech. Hidden away in the bowels of the old town with its beautiful décor and attentive and friendly staff.

Have just returned after spending 3 nights in Marrakech. We chose the El Mansour based on its Trip advisor reviews and were not disappointed. The staff were all excellent and willing to assist in any way at all times. The ambience and decor were good and the whole place was always spotlessly clean. our Room ( Number 2 ) was very good and there was always fresh fruit ,nibbles and bottled water available. They changed towels whenever we used them ( often twice a day ) until we requested them not to. Marrakech itself was facinating and we had a great break.

We could not fault the hospitality of the staff, and the rooms were exquisite, the only thing that most of the reviews here do not mention is the area. I would not recommend this Riad for people who want to venture out after dark as the Riad is down some very poorly lit hidden alley ways, which, after dark are very hairy indeed. Its a shame as we really wanted to explore Marrakech by night but were unable to and had to stay and eat at the Riad which, although very nice food, was incredicbly overpriced (set menu at 300 D was a bit much for soup, cous cous with veg and a fruit salad!). But like I said I haven't stayed in a hotel where the staff were so so helpful and courteous without being intrusive and the building and roof terrace are an absolute oasis.

We arrived at the airport in Marrakech, 1 hour late due to a late departure from Gatwick. The Riad had arranged a driver to meet us, so we were a little worried that he may have left! We needn't have worried as our driver had waited all that time for us, so it was wonderful just to climb into his cab and feel relaxed and safe.

On arrival at the Riad, Robert and his staff made us feel immediately relaxed and welcome and showed us to our room and then gave a tour around the Riad.

Riad el Mansour has six bedrooms, each individual in style, the larger rooms are totally oppulant and gorgeous! The courtyard is adorned with beautful original floor tiles and delicately carved wood cornicing and is fully open from ground floor to the sky! The roof terrace is a real haven for sunbathing, relaxing, breakfast or candlelit evening meal and can be covered should it rain during your stay.

It was really impossible to imagine that we were staying in the heart of the medina, with all the hustle and bustle of the traders and traffic once you walked into the Riad and were transported to a tranquil oasis!

Robert and his staff helped us organise special trips during our stay with or without guide and we had the feeling that nothing was too much trouble, infact they really pulled out all the stops to make us happy.

We would definately return and cannot recommend it highly enough!

Our first visit to Marrakech was made especially wonderful by our stay at the Riad El Mansour. My husband and I have traveled the world, but seldom have experienced the hospitality offered by the staff at this enchanting riad. The riad was truly a hidden gem, a short walking distance from the city center's hustle and bustle. Our stay was enhanced by the brief orientation by the manager, followed by a wonderful authentic Morrocan dinner that night. We spent four nights in total - with one day in the Atlas mountains (a tour arranged by the hotel staff). Thank you for a memorable time!
