“Outstanding - beautiful place, lovely people.”

Marrakech took a bit of getting used to - the first day we got lost and were much bothered by young men telling us roads were closed and offering to show the way - but our hosts gave us some very helpful advice and we had two really wonderful days. Michael, Michel and their staff at Riad Al Massarah were fabulous. Our room and the whole building were delightfully decorated - great taste all round with beautiful furniture, artefacts, plants, etc. Our evening meal there was the best we've ever eaten at a restaurant anywhere. We very strongly recommend this riad.

Room Tip: We got a 'superior' room, the Carmin, as the cheaper room we wanted wasn't available, fo...

At first I thought the location was dicey, but then I saw this beautiful riad. The service was exceptional and the staff unusually attentive [and well-cared-for by the socially conscious owners].
What a courtyard, what lovely breakfasts, what views from the terrace, plus a lovely restaurant next door. You'll love it.

I am sorry for my late review, based in how good experience we had I should have write it the day after we left:).
We came here a family group of 8 people, and everything was perfect they keep the place super clean, decor is really nice, is an oasis from the outside world!, everyone was super nice, and helpful.
Please if you are thinking about coming to Marrakech please don't look any further this IS the place, the photos don't even do justice, imagine that...is even more pretty in real life.
Thanks guys for an awesome time!!

This is a beautifully appointed property in the heart of the old town. Each room is a unique masterpiece blending the exotic essence of Marrakesh with European style. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. The owners and hosts are gracious and extremely helpful ensuring we made the most of our trip. They prearranged tours and were very responsive to our inquiries. Everything promised was delivered 100%! We also loved the fact that they have dedicated sustainability policies! This is a must stay venue for anyone visiting!

We stayed at the Riad for 3 nights at the beginning of our Morocco trip. Though Michael and Michel were away on a trip to Spain, David took great care of us! The riad is small with only 5 or 6 rooms which makes it very personal. It is also operated very much like a house where there are really no locks on the bedroom doors (you don't get a key to your room) and everything is very open. It might sound a little strange, but it's actually very nice. To get in the riad you must ring the doorbell and someone will let you in so there is no fear of thieves lurking around inside (though there is a small safe in each room for your valuables).
Our room was very small but beautifully decorated. The room as well as the bathroom was very clean. The staff at the riad is so lovely. The chef, Abdel, is very friendly and a great cook. We had dinner at the riad one night and the appetizers were some of the best food we had our entire trip! Breakfast every morning was very nice as well. Fresh fruit, a delicious homemade yogurt, amazing jams, made to order eggs, etc. And although there were other guests at the riad, my husband and I ended up having all our meals alone which was so nice. We felt like we were King and Queen of the palace :)
The location of the riad is great as well. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from the main square, Djemaa el-Fna, given you don't get lost which you DEFINITELY will! It is also close to the new city if you care to explore outside the medina. We had dinner at Azar (outside the medina) one night and on the way back our taxi dropped us off as far in the medina as it was allowed and to our surprise, someone from the riad was waiting there to escort us home! It was little things like that which made this place so special.
We also did a hammam and massage here on our last day. There is one hammam room and one massage room which are connected to each other. The hammam was great. I had nothing to compare it to but the lady scrubbed my body and took many layers of dead skin off...my skin was so soft and glowing afterwards. After having another hamman in Fes that was more geared towards tourists (steam room, candles, hand/foot treatments, etc), i believe the one at this Riad was more like hamman that the locals experience. It wasn't a relaxing experience, but more like a bath, which is what it's supposed to be! She didn't speak any english but gestures sufficed in the situation. Afterwards I had my massage while my husband had his hammam. I mentioned that the rooms are connected, but they are not soundproof. That was a big drawback to my massage as I heard all the water splashing and talking going on during hubby's hamman. Other than that, it was definitely a great experience!
All in all, I would highly recommend this riad. It's charming and clean in a great location with superior staff :)

We stayed at Riad Al Massarah for our honeymoon for 4 nights. We had a wonderful time. It was everything we could have hoped for and more. We were met at the airport and had a 15 minute drive to the medina where we were met by the charming Michel. He escorted us the last five minutes on foot through the narrow streets to the riad. When you enter the black door you leave behind the chaos of the bustling streets and enter the beautiful peaceful house. Thr riad has an open courtyard with a lovely small swimming pool and a charming interior.
We were given a welcome drink by Michel of hot green tea and some delicious pastries. Michel offered lots of helpful suggestions on what to see and where to eat. We stayed in two different rooms and both were great. The Azur standard was nicely furnished and our bathroom floor was covered in rose petals. We then upgraded to Carmin which was even nicer and had a lovely sitting room area. The food at the Riad is brilliant. Thr chef Abdul is very friendly and informative about all of the food. Breakfast was taken most mornings on the pretty roof terrace. We had orange juice, yoghurt, eggs and fresh bread and pancakes.
Michel and the rest of the staff (David and Michael) really make you feel at home. We used the I house hamman for a massage which was great.
One of the highlights was a trip to the Atlas Mountains that Michel helped us to arrange. We did a walk with a local Berber man called Sharif who was lovely.we then took lunch at Chez Momo which had beautiful views of the mountains and a lake. Michel suggested lots of great restaurants. One of our favourites was la Maison Arabe. The riad is in a fantastic location, we walked everywhere and all of the staff were great. We will definitely return!

We had an absolutely fabulous stay at the Riad Al Massarah - everything was brilliantly organised and Michael and Michel were very entertaining and attentive hosts. We thought our meal on the first night was in fact the best in town and we at Le Tobsil, Maison Arab and some other very good restaurants. We were looked after extremely well - from being met at the airport and then escorted personally to the Riad by Michael. We had excellent guidance on where to find everything in Marrakech and even guidance on how to bargain in the Souks. The bedrooms were exquisite and the decor and attention to detail is of an extremely high standard. The manicure/ pedicure is particularly recommended. The staff were all extremely friendly and worked hard. The location is great - within easy walk of the Souks but also not too far from the new town. Extremely good value. A great place to stay.
