We feel most fortunate that we chose to stay at this Riad. Prior to going, there was some communication with Michael which always gives an indication of what to expect. From being met at the airport expectations were exceeded and we immediately destressed.
We had prearranged lunch and it was served in the sunshine on the roof terrace, bliss!
Michel was our host, ably supported by David as Michael was away. These guys have thought of everything to make your stay as easy and enjoyable as possible.
Rooms are very comfortable too, with beds you never wanted to leave. Having a fire lit in the evening was a special touch, together with turndown, water in rooms, great wet room too.
We felt so at home that we ate dinner twice, superbly cooked by Abdel, such a gentleman. Breakfasts were just delicious with everything cooked fresh. We loved the Berber pancakes, but the variety and quantity of food could not be faulted. Afternoon tea was served on the terrace by smiling staff, nothing too much trouble.
There was always someone on hand to offer advice on where to go, or otherwise. Their wealth of local knowledge was invaluable.
We very quickly found our way around and with such a great location everywhere we wanted to go to was within walking distance. The souks were great fun with amicable bargaining and a few purchases.
The weather was unusually warm for this time of year, and coming from cold grey UK, was an added bonus.
We met some very interesting people during our stay, and all very happy they had chosen to stay here. We would heartily recommend this unique small hotel, but there are only five rooms so do not delay!

Thak you Chrissie for your compliments. We shall pass them on to the team, they are always happy to recieve apprecation. and we think deserve it.

Just to point out we have six rooms, not five, so we can fit some more people in. There is a room tucked away on the roof terrace, which suits those who want a more open aspect rather than looking inwards to the courtyard.

Glad you enjoyed Marrakech and your stay, come back soon.

Michael

We highly recommend Riad Massarah - a fantastic place with service and hospitality above almost everything that we have experienced other places. We really loved the place and all the help with travel arrangements made by Michael and Michel. The arranged shopping, country club, restaurants and an unforgettable trekking trip in the mountains. Don't miss trekking, if you have some outdoor experience. We came to a wonderful village and stayed in a berban home. Very simple, lovely food - we just loved it. If you go to Marrakech, there is only one place to stay and we will definitely come back to Massarah next time.

Although not the easiest Riad to find and a fifteen minuete walk from the famous Djemaa el fna square this Riad was exactly what we needed at the end of ten days of travelling around Morroco by train.
The Riad itself is elegantly modern whilst retaining all of the charm of an old Riad, the staff are exceptionally helpfull and friendly and the chef was amazing.
we stayed in 2 of the rooms during our stay and both were luxureous and the attention to detail excellent.
we had a eveing meal in the Riad on the firstnight which was an amazing three course meal, and on the final day we treateds our selves to a traditional Hammam which should not be missed!!

Thank you for your review. It is true it can be difficult to find most Riads located in the old medina, and that is part of the charm. It is why we try to meet all guests when they arrive in Marrakech at the local taxi dropping off point and give them a guided walk to the Riad. For guests who arrive from withing Morocco they often try to do it on their own, but it often does go slightly wrong. For some this is part of the adventure. Once guests are with us we give them a map and orientation, and help them with routes to and from the main sights as well asJeema el Fna, in case they get lost. Of course some people are better at getting lost than others.

We think you did well to get to the square in 15 minutes, you must have been very focussed, or gone through the souks with blinkers . It is closer to 20, but a very interetsing 20.

We will pass on your compliments to the chef and the staff, thank you.

This is me and my husbands second stay at the Riad we stayed for 5 nights. The first time was an excellent experience and this was even better (I didn't think that could be possible). Michel, Michael and the team made the visit most enjoyable and relexaing. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is cater for wonderfully. If you stay you must have at least one evening meal in the Riad I can't tell you how lovely this is.

One of the best things is that Michel and Michael go that extra mile by organising trips, recommending restaurants and telling you the best places to shop (which is one of my favourite pastimes!!)

I would recommend this to anyone one of the best holiday experiences we've had and we have travelled extensively.

We will be back.

Just returned from an anniversary celebration trip with my husband to Riad Al Massarah. From the minute we inquired to the moment we left the riad the service was spectacular. Both hosts understand foreign travelers to muslim countries and we completely accomodating to our requests, giving advice when prompted and generally making our stay memorable. The riad is incredibly well kept, the staff friendly without being in your face. The food was wonderful (thank you Abdel for your lovely breakfasts and for our very memorable trip to the local souk before our fantastic cookery class with you). What fun to shop locally with a local and then cook with him to only later (after a delicious mint tea and a rest) eat what we had created. That truly added to the experience. I tried the riad's hammam- my first experience with one and it was wonderful. Thank you Touria! and the massage afterwards was also refreshing (not the best I've ever had, but very relaxing nonetheless!) We will definitely be back and couldn't recommend this place more highly. Although not on "the" square, it was wonderful to out of the touristy area and hustle bustle- and was literally an 8 minute walk to the "center"- much better than being right in it "all". Thank you Michael and Michel for making our trip what it was!

I loved everything about Riad Al Massarah and I can't recommed it enough. From the perfect location in the medina, within walking distance from the new town and the main square, to the relaxing and beautiful ambiance, the quiet and gorgeous room, the delicious food, and outstanding staff, everything about this place is exceptional. But by far the most unforgettable aspect that made my stay in Marrakech (a new city to me) that much better was the care and personalized attention the owners provide. From the guidance, tips and expert recommendations to the consistently above and beyond service, Michel and Michael deserve a bravo and a heartfelt thank you from me. I look forward to coming back very soon.

Riad al Massarah was like an oasis in the heart of the bustling medina. The staff as well as the rooms were simply fabulous. I would definitely recommend staying for dinner at the riad one night during your stay, as the meal was outstanding!
