Les Borjs de la Kasbah
Ranked #28 of 502 Hotels in Marrakech
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 16 January 2012

Caution: Marrakech has a small print policy that if a large booking comes up, they can bump you out of your reservation. That happened to us two times and we ended up at Les Borjs de la Kasbah. Thank goodness! This is an oasis. Marrakech is a busy, noisy, exciting place, and when you are done touring, what you need is a place like this. Believe it or not, you can walk down a sketchy alley full of donkeys, motorcycles, bikes, pedestrians, people, and go through the doors into a "riad" that offers peace and tranquility. The service is great, the food is excellent, the rooms well decorated and clean. I understand in speaking with the staff that this used to be the #1 rating in Marrakech and it should be! We stayed at five other hotels during our three week trip in Morocco and by far, far, far this is the best hotel we stayed at. Dinner is great at the hotel -- while you can have Tagine -- you also have a large selection of modern cuisine which is a great break from the standard dish. This was the only hotel to offer a computer and if you want to make international phone calls all you have to do is go to the front desk. The bathrooms are delightful -- heated towel rack, plush towels, nice soaps, shower and bathtub. We miss Fatima, the wonderful woman who manages breakfast. If only she could be there at home every morning.

Room Tip: If you travel when it is warm enough to use the unheated pool, I'd avoid a room overlooking the...

As you enter the Borjs de la Kasbah you leave the chaos outside and enter a tranquil oasis. The staff are terrific, helpful and courteous.
Rooms are clean, comfortable and in decorated and finished to a high standard. We ate several times at the hotel restaurant and enjoyed the experience every time.
A must if you stay is the spa- the hammam, and spa treatments are fantastic, i felt refreshed and rejuvenated after the experience.

A very nice and in certain ways authentic hotel.
In the middle of the Kasbah where you would not expect a hotel anymore it is like an oasis for tourists.
The hotel offers a very calm, extremely friendly and service orientated atmosphere. The rooms are offering all kind of standard features a western tourist would look for. The hotel has its own hammam and pool and the organization of trips in and around Marrakesh help a lot to explore the entire region.
The food in the restaurant is great and offers for everybody something delicious.
We have been very happy to stay there over 5 nights and it was all penny worth.

From the moment you enter this Riad, you will love the serenity of it. The place is beautiful and very clean with very fiendly and attentionate personnel. Everything was thought of to make your experience a memorable one: from the decor of the rooms to comfy morrocan salons in the patio. Its is located at the southern limits of the Medina and close to the Royal Palace and the Tombeaux Saadiens. It is a 20 mns walking distance from Jemaâ El- Fna in an area where you get a full immersion in the local life. It is clearly my place of choice in Marrakech for my trip next year.

My first trip to Marrakech and this Riad is a absolute gem ; right in the heart of the bustling Medina but inside the front door there is only peace and tranquility. The service, accommodation, food ( French /Morrocan ) were all tip top. They arranged all transfers , advised on activities - nothing was too much trouble . We were on a golfing holiday and I would recommend Marrakech as a winter venue - courses were excellent . The Riad just made the holiday fantastic

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the courtyard

A brilliant hotel. Lovely friendly staff, who are all very helpful and genuinely want to make you welcome. Out of the loud hustle and bustle of the centre, but an easy walk in, which I think was well worth it. It's so loud, that after a busy day exploring coming back to the quietness and chilling by the pool with a nice bottle of rose (£10) was something to look forward to. Very comfy beds, good showers and rose petals on the bed is a lovely touch.

This is a fantastic place in the southern medina about 15-20 minutes walk to the main square. We thought this side of the medina was more authentic and less touristy than the other side and the best museums are around here. The owners have put a great deal of thought into this hotel - it is the little things that make a hotel perfect and they have truly thought of everything! We booked a suite through Expedia which was just wonderful - a four poster bed, lovely sitting area and a large bathroom with yummy toiletries! We arranged an airport transfer through the hotel as our flight landed quite late and the mint tea and biscuits on arrival was a good touch. The room was looked after very well and there were fresh rose petals scattered on the bed every day - we also had fresh roses in the room and a fruit basket. Breakfast was very good (the fresh orange juice and fluffy scrambled eggs were particularly good!) and we ate in the restaurant every night too. The food was very good and we just couldn't face the madness of the medina in the dark!! The staff are a credit to the hotel - do leave some money in their tip box on checkout. They are worth every penny!
We had a hammam in the spa which was great and lunch by the pool one afternoon which was delicious. Because this is a proper hotel there is a 24 hour reception and the staff can arrange anything you wish.
All in all we would say this is one of the best hotels we have ever been to and would love to return one day!

Room Tip: Do upgrade to a suite if you can
