“Bad experience”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

This hotel has a reception which is far from rooms. It has separate buildings and every one has around 12 rooms.. And they all look like each other and every time we go out and come back we got lost.. Plenty of trees and plants with insects everywhere even we saw a cockroach in the bathroom.the hotel's restaurant serves breakfast with few choices and snacks at certain times of the day. the hotel is far from the town and if you want to eat or buy something you need a taxi to go and taxis are expensive. Swimming pool is big but not cleaned regularly .the place is calm and staff are friendly.

Dear Client

We would like first to thank you for taking the time to write us about your stay in the palmeraie village, Any comments from you is appreciated, as it allows us to improve the quality of services that we offer to our customers.

We are so sorry to know that your stay was not as expected, and we would like to explain for you a few things:

First of all we are not a hotel but a residence and as you know we are located at the Palmeraie that is in fact out of the medina, but we offer the unique experience of staying at the oasis of the Palm groove.
Our restaurant is open from 7 Am to 23 Pm and we do propose a continental breakfast in the morning and à la carte restaurant during the hole day, Our swimming pools are cleaned twice a day.

It will be our absolute pleasure to welcome you back to Palmeraie village upon your next visit to Marrakech.

Kind regards

We went to the village for a week and we loved it.The service was very good and the receptionist/staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a lovely time in Marrakesh. The apartment was too far away from the reception-for us, but we didn't mind walking in the hot sun as that is what we came for. When we arrived the apartment was very clean and luckily we had the closest building to the small kids swimming pool as we have three young children. Overall we had a brilliant experience in this new country and this lovely village.

After reading some of the reviews on here we prepared ourselves for bad service and accomodation but upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist called saad, who spoke excellent english. He asked how our flight ect had been then had us checked in within 5 mins, and told us he had given us an apartment near to the pool and one of the restaurants so we wouldn'nt have far to walk which was nice. Then he gave us a map of marrakech and gave us recommendations on places to eat and drink, and even the best spa to go to (le bain marrakech) so glad he did as we took his advice throughout our trip and ate in some amazing places (cafe arabe) which we would never found on our own. After this he called for the resorts shuttle bus to take us to our apaprtment (even though it was only a five min walk) even the driver was lovely and we used the FREE shuttle throughout our trip without expextation of a tip from any of the drivers. On arrival to our apartment we actually hugged each other as our 3 bedroom apartment was absolutley stunning and spotless. Nice size kitchen with all facilities and gorgeous living room area. 3 good size bedrooms all with access to massive terrace and the biggest of the rooms was en suite. Had our towels changed twice in 4 days so couldnt complain. Every day we went to reception to use free wifi and whilest we were there every member of the reception staff couldnt have been more friendly or helpful in calling us taxis or the shuttle bus or recommending trips. Nikki beach is on the complex which was amazing and we got the free shuttle there and back. It was a brillliant day, amazing food, music and friendly staff there too. throughout our trip to markets restaurants or even our camel trips each person we spoke to was lovely, not rude or scary and for a group of girls 2 of which blonde we found this surprising after reading some of the reviews. I cant tell you enough how amazing marrakech is, gutted we only spent 4 days there as we could have done with at least a week to do some more trips. Also if you need a taxi we had an excellent driver called omar who we used the entire trip, very friendly and reliable and didnt rip you off st all, he actually took us into town and back (cost approx 100 dirhams each way which is reasonable as its about 15 mins) and we paid him at end of each day. Highly recommend using him as some of the other taxis are a rip off. His number is 0677167677, he speaks french but not much english so just buy a phrase book before you go go and you'll get on fine. It was nice to stay out of town as much more relaxing than in the hustle and bustle of the square and this really was the best place to stay, will definatley be back, thanks again palmeraie village :)

Room Tip: Any of the rooms are oerfect as lots of pools and restaurants dotted about

I went to Palmeraie Village Residence for 2 nights. FIrst, I was driving around for about 20min to find the place. During check-In, I couldn't pay the touristical taxes because the front desk guy didn't have change.
The apartment was terrible, first floor, gloomy, uncomfy furniture. there wasn't a queen size bed but 2 twins put together with a huge break between them.
Breakfast is very very basic: no scrumble eggs, no chocolate cereals....

Room Tip: Make sure to get a first floor apartment with a pool view

I would not recommend the Palmeraie Village for first-time visitors to Marrakech.

However, if you're a French or Arabic speaker, know the region well and have ample resources (bring enough food and drink for your stay), then the Palmeraie Village would be a fine place to stay if you want the privacy of your own apartment or villa for you and your family.

The resort is a long-way away from the city centre and Djema el Fna and taxi fares will sting you.

I must stress - this review is for one of the resort's Villas (this review is not for their apartments) as I stayed in a Via there with my family for a few days in August 2013.

Check-in was painstakingly slow - with one lady left to deal with everyone whilst we saw two men smoking and chatting in an office behind. She did her best to deal with everyone and was pleasant but everything was slow.

There is no WIFI available throughout the resort except the reception area and 3G signal is very weak, often non-existent throughout. It's not the best place to be if you like/need to keep connected.

The villas are great, like a fortress, but from all accounts - the apartments are small and substandard.

An arabesque and traditional Moroccan décor is the theme across the villas and all have private pools. There are 4 bedrooms with the master suite occupying the whole upstairs with a large bathroom, fitted with a jacuzzi. The master bedroom has a TV and terrace. Downstairs, there is a large living room with TV, amply fitted kitchen, and 3 bedrooms varying in size, each with a private bathroom and shower.

There is very few towels - so bringing your own towels, especially larger ones, is a must.

Upon check-in, our villa's pool was dirty, but maintenance sorted this quickly.

Upon check-out, we waited 1 hour for a car to pick us up, compounding the very slow and poor service which is riddled throughout the resort.

As I have mentioned, if you know the region well, if you speak French or Arabic, if you are well stocked up on food and drink in advance, if you have brought your own towels and if you don't mind not being on the internet, the resort is a nice place for some peace and tranquility with your family.

Myself and two friends stayed at Palmeraie Village in a 2 bedroom selfcatering accomadation,(D4) it was large living room bathroom separate from toilet, the maid came in only if you were staying longer than 4days with clean bedding and towels, the apartment was fab but the smell from the drains nearly knocks you out lol we kept putting bleach down was ok while you were in but once you went out and came back later it was the same maybe 'cos we were ground level but you overcome it,all the pool areas were clean and tidy and plenty of sun beds (with no cushions on so a bit hard)the reception staff, security guards hotel staff all very helpful and polite. If you are arriving after 6pm make sure you take fresh water with you as there is nowhere you can get any till nxt day we were lucky reception staff gave us a bottle of there own so we was able to make a nice cuppa,if you get a taxi to Marrakech square befor 8, oclock its 100dirhams after its 150 or its best to get a return price befor you go and just phone the driver when your ready to return to the complex,it is best to change your money when you get there better exchange rate Hotel Ally in the square is good, the complex is quiet as its a bit outside of Marrakech but would Recommend, its a large complex we were always getting a bit lost but there are signs(just us a bit thick) lol. There is a beach about an hour and a half away we never visited that but heard it was good,we arranged for a taxi to take us to Agadir for the day and went to the beach there and taxi driver knows good non tourist places to eat,it took 31/2 hours so you have to leave early for three of us it cost 500 Dirhams each return thats only £32.75 you could get the Supratour bus from the bus station in Marrakech our taxi driver was called Mustapha 00212661422084 he speaks french better than english but we managed he is very polite he stayes in his car till your ready to go else where but he knows Agadir.Don't for get to barter right down watch out for the beggers and enjoy your holiday.
