“Not Worth the money”
Reviewed 22 March 2009

This hotel is so expensive compared to European hotels of a similar standard , expect to be paying nearly £8 for a can of diet Coke if your foolish enough to ask for someone to bring it to you near the pool ! The hotel boasts that it is 5star but the service lets it down badly , the staff all seemed totally disinterested in the guests and when they did eventually take food & drink orders they were very slow to deliver . Rooms were OK but my bathroom was tired with loose fittings and some chipped tiles . Also very little choice on the TV with no movies and only 2 english speaking channels . Room did have a mini bar but no Tea or coffee making facility . Its worth bearing in mind this complex is pretty big and the gropunds have plenty of steps so bear this in mind if mobility mught be a issue . The grounds of the hotel were tidy and well looked after and there was plenty of beds near the pool but it wasnt easy getting a towel as the pool guys were very elusive .
Overall I wouldn`t recomend this hotel as I felt it was very expensive and no way was it 5 star due to the poor service and the pretty average standard of the rooms

We have just returned after a week at the Palmeraie Village hotel and I'm happy to say it exceeded our expectations and overall was good value. Our party of six had a standard three bed appartment which was very comfortable and plenty big enough. The air conditioning was very effective, thankfully given the daily 40 degree + temperatures. We barely used the cooking facilities in the appartment, preferring to eat in the main restaurant and pool side snack bar. The food was fine albeit the choice was not great and we were a little disappointed to find very few, if any, Moroccan dishes on offer - pizzas, steak and chips, pasta, salads etc being the norm. Our only real criticism concerned service in the restaurants - all staff were very friendly but service was often slow and it was not unusual for first and second courses to arrive at the same time - not a problem really but it did become a bit of a standing joke with us. We also had several instances of food different to what we had ordered turning up. These were minor points really and did not detract from our enjoyment of the holiday.

The pools were great and there were always sunloungers available.

All staff were very friendly and dealt with our questions efficiently. We had two minor problems during the week with the appartment and both were sorted out within minutes.

The setting is beautiful and great efforts seem to be made to keep everything green, no small matter in that climate.

During the week of the 23rd May we stayed at Palemeraie Village for a period of 5 days. The first night of our stay, thieves broke in to our apartment while we were sleeping, stealing my wife’s handbag, two wallets, 7 credit and debit cards, cash money, a Rolex watch and a digital camera. For a total value of 7000 €.
When we found out about the theft at 8 a.m. already an additional 1300 € was taken of my wife’s Visa Gold. We immediately informed the hotel and asked the police to come over. Since the service and organization level at this hotel is very poor and sometimes inexistent, it took security 1 hour to show up. We later found out that the hotel called the police only at 1 p.m.
The police told us we were the 5th victim in 3 months at the Palmeraie hotel complex.
No serious steps we undertaken to come up with a proposal to solve this problem, so I asked for a meeting with the general manager of the Palemeraie group (Palmeriaie Village, Golf Palace, Jardin d’Inès, Pavillon du Golf) mr Francis Longueve , the financial director mr Mustapha Zouitina and the chief of security.
During this meeting all these gentlemen gave their word and promised to turn over this file to the insurance company. They assured this case would be solved within a few days.
After we came back home and two e-mails were sent, communication started to get more and more difficult. The concerned people were never available, did not answer our e-mails any more. When we called they were always on meetings, not in office, or on public holidays that even don’t exist in Morocco, etc.
I managed to get the cell phone number of Mr Zouitina, I called him and after a short and very impolite discussion he simply hung up on me.
Multiple messages were left with the secretary, but no result.
We then pushed it through the embassy, only to find out that this 5 star hotel doesn’t even have an insurance.
We now will press legal charges against the hotel.
This letter will be send to all travel offices in the hope this hotel will be taken out of their catalogues, because it certainly is not worth the 5 stars it claims.

Just got back from a 5 day break at the Palmeraie Village. The hotel service was indeed poor as previous reviews state in terms of front desk and ordering taxis it was really unreliable. The apartment was llovely we were given a 2 bed instead of 1 and it was really nicely furnished with intricate wooden carved high ceilings and nice tiling. The pool was really nice and the pool restaurant service was good. We had really nice food here especially the Sunday BBQ although it was pricey compared to the Medina. The Golf Palace is a hotel that has definately had its day. It was dead, club shut and the facilities decidedly average. The best part was the lovely piano bar but drinks vastly overpriced. The food in the Morrocan restaurant at the Golf Palace was not great and the music awful! We much preferred venturing out for dinner, I recommend Marrakchi in the main square for Morrocan food, Crystal at Pacha was the most high quality mneal and an amazing atmosphere, as was Nikki Beach for lunch and for belly dancers and a fun glam night out try Le Comptoir in the Hivernage. We hired a moped for 3 days and it only cost us 600 dm it was great as we didnt have to rely on the hotel transpotation to go to town. One word of warning!!! Some people we met there were out one night and came back to find they had been robbed- laptop, sunglasses camera everything so make sure you lock your doors and we put our electric shutters down at night. Had a great time but Marrakech is not for the faint hearted be prepeared to haggle over every price for taxis and shopping.
