“Stunning riad, incredible service and wonderful people.”
Reviewed 27 May 2013

This Riad was the highlight of our trip to Marrakech, not just the beauty of the rooms and building (not to mention Massimo having the most incredible office there ever was!), but the service, friendliness, relaxed atmosphere and invaluable advice.

Our driver was waiting for us at the airport so we had a seamless transition to the car park where Massimo met us. Being our first trip to Morrocco, my partner and I were a little apprehensive, especially after the transfer and seeing the mental driving of the locals (not our driver) and the hustle and bustle on the streets, but Massimo relaxed us immediately as he greeted us and straight away started to share his advice and knowledge to us. Leading us to the Riad he showed us points of reference which proved to be invaluable and ensured we never got lost coming home....even after several cocktails at the Mamounia!

Upon entering the Riad, the first thing that hits you is the decadent smell of jasmine, absolutely beautiful, its fairly dark in the hall with little candles and has a mysterious air... brilliant. We then preceded to sit in the courtyard with lovely mint tea and sweet treats. Massimo, took us through a map of Marrakech and gave fantastic practical and very useful advice on the areas and sights. He also talked to us about the culture and etiquette and how to handle certain situations...again invaluable and we really believe that this enhanced our trip massively as we felt comfortable and were able to communicate effectively with locals etc.

The rooms....absolutely stunning. We had amethyst for 2 nights which was incredible and rubis for 1 night. Unfortunately amethyst was not available for the entirety of our stay as we were a little late with booking, but the transition between rooms was made very easy for us and we didn't have to lift a finger. The rooms were both ridiculously beautiful, the furniture, décor, cleanliness.

Breakfast was either served downstairs or on the rooftop terrace which was super. Fresh fruit, beautiful coconut yoghurt, a variety of pastries/cakes, juice, coffee and tea, all scrumptious. One morning we slept in until late, past the normal breakfast time, when we did eventually emerge from our slumber, Massimo noticed we hadn't been in breakfast and arranged for us to have a late breakfast on the rooftop terrace.... amazing.

We were also invited to keep our room for the entire day of our check out as we had a late flight, and Massimo kindly arranged for a 'snack' to be prepared for us to have before we left for the airport. This was served on the roof terrace and was a delicious array of Moroccan treats....'snack' doesn't even come close.

Massimo also arranged a hamman spa for us which was a lovely experience and I would highly recommend as well as advising us of a nightclub to try where we had the best night ever.

A few things really stood out for me, the staff were really accommodating, even when we rocked in at 3am, always a smile and a welcoming greeting. Either Massimo or one of the staff was also around when we arrived back in the riad, and it was nice to come 'home' to such a friendly place where people genuinely seemed pleased to see you. The way that Massimo communicated with his staff was so lovely, the courtyard is quite echoey, so they do little bird whistles to get attention .....superb! There are no locks to the rooms and the doors are left open and you have no key to the riad, you knock on the door or ring the bell. There is a safe in the room, but really its so relaxed and homely, it felt perfectly normal and comfortable. Such a lovely change from non descript chain hotels with electronic key cards!!! It really did feel like home.

In summery, fabulous location being a few minutes walk from the square, stunning Riad and most importantly the service and staff made this trip one of the best holidays ever. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this Riad, in fact I don't think I could stay anywhere else now.

Marrakech is a great city, absolutely breath taking. Couple of recommendations, if you are looking for a rooftop hideaway with good food and BEER then head to Dar Nejjarine. A local chap will walk you there for a euro or few dirham. Don't be scared when you go off the beaten track a bit. This became our favourite bar....its beautiful, has a great ambience and most importantly, serves alcohol!

Massimo recommended Palais Jad Mahal which was a great night club, we danced, drank, saw belly dancing, this was the best night of our trip.

Massimo, thank you so much, you really are a legend!! We look forward to staying with you again in the future.... if you will have us! Charlotte and Matt xxx

Massimo met us in the car park and walked us to the Riad which was a good start to our stay. While drinking mint tea Massimo aquaited us with all the do's and don'ts of Marrakech and reinforced our directions so that we never got lost. We actually didn't find the Riad experience terribly enjoyable and would have been better in an hotel. Nothing personal again this Riad as it was excellent, but we felt imprisoned. Bed was comfortable and the linen beautiful. Georgina put duvets back on the beds as it had turned cold so it was nice and cosy. Bathroom was OK with plenty of hot water once we sorted the taps out which were on back to front. Plenty of thick towels and bathrobes. There was a pleasant smell permeating throughout the whole riad. Breakfast was fine on the terrace but it was a little cold up there in the mornings. Felt the riad was a little overpriced and although they gave us a bottle of water on arrival it was never replenished which seemed a little petty.

Room Tip: We had the Turquoise Suite which was fine.

Really enjoyed a great stay at the Riad le Clos des Arts. On arrival Georgina spent time describing the area and providing information on the sights of Marrakech. Both Georgina and Massimo were always available to answer any questions throughout the stay and provided really useful advice. The room at the Riad was very comfortable and the Riad is very quiet of a night which was a real bonus after a long day. There is a very nice area to relax on the rooftop as well as in the main area and I must also mention the staff who are really friendly and helpful and made it a very enjoyable stay.

The Riad itself is located a short walk from Jama el Fnna square and when you leave the square of a night with all the noise and activity it is such a contrast arriving back to the peace and quiet of the Riad.

During the stay had a meal on two nights and the food was tasty and delicious. I would recommend arranging the taxi pickup from the airport through the Riad where Massimo met the taxi in a small square and walked to the Riad on arrival and Georgina arranged a taxi and walked back to the square at the end of the stay.

Great Riad, lovely people, like staying with friends.

From the moment they personally met us in the parking lot till we said "Au Revoir" - again in the parking lot, Georgina and Massimo were exceptional hosts. Anything that we needed was there to be had.
Location: Although barely two minutes from the main road, the Riad is quiet and peaceful. Very convenient to the Jama el Fnna square and Bahia Palace.
Rooms: Our 3 room suite was equipped with a Queen and divan that could also be converted to a bed. If you are an early sleeper, other clients coming in late will disturb you. Lots of hot water and storage space.
Breakfast: Exquisite! Mohammed speaks good English and will get you anything you want! Do try the Moroccan pancakes with homemade jam!
Service: Above expectations!
So why not "Exceptional"? The Riad needs a facelift which I understand they are planning to do this summer.

Room Tip: Sucre Nachre suite - we got a cheaper price from Orbitz than directly from the hotel.

Well what can I say that has not been said before. First trip to Marrakech and the stay at the Riad le Clos des Arts was fabulous.Every need was catered for from booking a fantastic Hammam to sorting out Abdul the guide to take us on a tour of the sites where his knowledge and tips were invaluable.
The food at the riad was exceptional and all the other guests commented on the quality and flavours produced by Leila.
Georgina and Massimo were very gracious hosts and greeted us near the riad and on entering gave us mint tea and a run down of where to go and what to see.
They even remembered off my passport that it was my birthday and presented me with some complimentary babouche as a present.
You could not wish for a better location, more helpful staff and excellent cuisine.

We stayed with2 friends in this beautiful Riad for 4 nights at the end of April. Lovely comfy rooms above a beautiful courtyard. Breakfast & refreshments on the roof in the sunshine & a small pool for cooling off in.
Located right in the heart of The Medina, easy walking to all the main sites & locations.
Giorgina & Massimo & their staff could not have been more friendly & helpful. Their recommendations for restaurants were excellent, our trip to The Hammam was lovely, & although a very long day we so enjoyed our trip across The Atlas Mountains.
We also had dinner in The Riad one evening & the food was superb - a wonderful mixture of Moroccan salads & then a delicious lamb tajine

Room Tip: Choose a room on the first floor - closer to the stars!

we arrived in marrakech late evening for a 5 days stay, and we were impressed by the peaceful environnement that this riad offers after having experienced the chaotic rhytm of the medina. at any time of the day we could step back to the freshness and the quieteness of the riad, our little daughters (4 and 7) could take their nap or play with the roof pool while we could enjoy the conversation and the advices of Giorgina and Massimo in the very charming and elegant patio. excellent dinners and familiar environnement were very appreciated, we will definitely come back for a second experience! thank you giorgina and massimo!
