“An oasis in the middle of Marrakech”
Reviewed 21 October 2009

We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Riad Zolah. The service and attention to detail were fantastic. We stayed in Suite 6 which is beautiful, quiet and secluded on the roof terrace. It was lovely to come back from an evening out to be greeted by candles and rose petals . The food was great especially the breakfast and we were always welcomed back with the offer of tea or soft drinks. Ismail, Fatima ,Aziz and Omar all made our first visit to Marrakech very special !

We had a brilliant stay in Riad Zolah and wish it could have been for longer. Ismail is an excellent host and made sure we had everything we needed. It is a beautiful riad and I cannot recommend it enough.

Just arrived back from 5 days at the Riad Zola. It was a fantastic break, the service was faultless, the location perfect and the sun was shining!

At the risk of repeating what everyone else has said, the riad was exotic, beautiful, luxurious, and comfortable. Marrakech has many beautifully renovated riads but what really made this one special are the dedicated staff who were genuinely interested in providing great service.

The owner provided many thoughtful details and services, from the seamless airport transfers to the gracious welcome to complimentary babouches (Berber shoes) to complimentary wifi to use of a local cell phone to useful advice about food, trips, and even what to do with your dirhams before leaving. His service philosophy must be infectious because Ismail, Aziz, Fatima, and the others did a splendid job making our four nights fantastic. They arranged restaurant reservations and a day trip to the High Atlas mountains, told us where to find snake-charmers, accompanied us when we got lost in the Medina, served a lovely home-cooked dinner, and provided complimentary laundry services. They served an interesting breakfast each day and left us with a great impression of Morocco.

We stayed in Suite 1 and for the price we paid, we thought it was excellent value. An early review says look no further...really, look no further. Riad Zolah deserves all the accolades it gets.

Where do I begin!

The Riad itself: We were greeted and escorted to the Riad when we arrived and Ismail was there to greet us with the most amazing mint tea and some yummy biscuits/cakes! He gave us each a map and mobile phone and showed us to our rooms. The Riad itself is right in the heart of the Souks, everything is minutes away, although once you walk through that big wooden entrance door you would think it was a million miles away. It is incredibly peaceful and tranquil; the rooftop terrace is beautiful and ideal if you want to relax day or night. The rooms have every possible final touch you can think of, from daily fresh fruit and nuts to rose petals on the bed every evening. My boyfriend proposed to me on our trip and I cannot think of a more romantic setting, Ismail was wonderful and set the scene beautifully with champagne, rose petals and candles.

This was our first trip to Marrakech and I must admit was quite intimidating on the first day - walking around the souks is like walking through a maze! Ismail was incredibly helpful with this and we were very grateful for the map and mobile phone! We asked him which places were best to visit and which restaurants to go to and he couldn’t have been more helpful, he booked the restaurants for us and arranged for someone to walk us there and back again at the end of the night. The food is amazing in Morocco so I would definitely recommend tasting the local cuisine, the food at the Riad was wonderful as well. The breakfast every morning was absolutely fantastic, from fresh fruit to cakes, bread and pancakes, we had to take photographs when we first laid eyes on it!!

After our evening meal when we returned to the Riad we were able to order any drink on the menu throughout the night, one night we got chatting to another couple up until 2am and it wasn’t a problem as someone was there to serve us drinks throughout.

The only negative point would be the rooms positioning, we were in Suite 5 and if you like your privacy then I would recommend another Suite. The reception area was right outside the room so you could hear everything if people decided to sit in that area, I was conscious of the fact that they could hear us as well so we found ourselves talking in hushed voices! Apart from that everything was perfect and it certainly wouldn’t put me off staying here again. All of the other suites were positioned in more private areas.

Overall if I ever returned to Marrakech again I would 100% return to Riad Zolah, the service was second to none and apart from the point above I could not find fault if I tried. Even though it is quite expensive, it was definitely worth the money, and we found ourselves leaving a very generous tip to the staff at the end as we were so pleased!

Riad Zolah is a beautiful, peaceful sanctuary in the middle of total sensory overload. They pull out all the stops to ensure that you have a positive experience. They had arrival dinner waiting for me; they gave me recommendations on where to buy specialty items and what price to expect to pay; they arranged for a wonderful hammam; set up a customized four day adventure and provided an excellent driver/guide (Hussein). These people really do care about making your experience the greatest. Believe what you read here. They're the greatest.

We have recently come back from our second venture to Zolah as memories of this riad left us wanting more. As expected, the hospitality, staff and surroundings were again second to none and there was no chance the guys would ever let anything disappoint. Within Zolah nothing is left to chance, Ismal always checks to see if anything could be done to make your stay more enjoyable and comfortable.

We had noticed from this last visit that the food and drinks menus had been enhanced - it was lovely being able to enjoy a cocktail on the roof terrace after a long day of visiting the souks and soaking up the sun!

We cant wait for our next visit!
