Reviewed 9 September 2010

Stayed here bank holiday weekend in august with husband and teenage daughter.
We were collected as pre-arranged by hotel driver who was waiting for us, in a lovely car and drove us quite safetly to the Terre Resort.
The hotel is in the Palmerie district, a half hour drive out of central Marrakesh..it is quiet and remote but if you do your research before booking it comes as no surprise..and is actually really lovely and peaceful.
Check in was uneventful, we were taken to our upgraded suite which was beautiful. You have to remember that this is Morroccon 5 star and not British..and the authentic splendour of the rooms reflect this. Unfortunately the first night we had an electric storm which resulted in a power cut and our air-conditioning didn't work, but was rectified first thing the following morning.
Our first morning we were given a guided tour by a delightful young lady... all the staff we encountered were polite and helpful.
Breakfast was included in our stay and was plentiful. We ate in the hotel restaurant one night and while delicious was very pricy, as were the drinks...but no more than you would expect at a 5 star hotel.
The pool areas were lovely, sufficient loungers and clean towels for everyone. The pool attendant was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, he even brought towels and an umberella down to the jacuzzi pool for us. It was a lovely experience to lie by the pool, enjoying the scents of jasmine, listening to amazing grace..and other chilled music...rather than a thumping beat of the usual holiday music!!!!!!
We met some lovely people at the hotel, as its a fairly small hotel everyone was incredibly friendly and shared suggestions on where to visit, how to barter, where to eat out etc...
The weather was amazing during our stay and I am full of admiration for all the staff who work tirelessly in that heat, and especially as it was ramadam.
We ventured to the main square on 2 evenings and what a place! The people are fantastic and a lot of fun..bartering was good natured and you always felt you came away with a bargain!
there were very reasonable restaurants around the square, serving local and international cuisine.
My only criticism of the Terre resort, would be the inadequate shuttle service, which appears to be an ongoing area of complaint. A 6 seater car is not sufficient for a hotel of its size, and the latest trip into the centre is at 4 o clock when it is still incredibly hot.. The hotel would probably be better not even offerring the service as it appeared to be a source of much tension amongst several guests, when they were told they were unable to secure places. It was fully booked for the entirity of our stay, even before we arrived!! I mentioned to the reception staff, having read previous trip advisers reviews regarding the shuttle problems that the management had assured the problem had been rectified, but it hadn't...but they were powerless to offer a solution, so like many others we had to use the hotel car, thus incurring an added cost for a service that was offerred as complimentary. On our last day we were able to keep our room on until we left at no extra cost due to our disappointment over the shuttle car, which was a nice gesture, but the problem needs addressing as it will continue to be a focus for complaint.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a city break as you get the best of both worlds, tranquility during the day and the enjoyment of the hustle and bustle during the evening in the medina. I had wanted to visit Marrakesh for a long time...and was not disappointed , it is a fascinating place with culture, charm and faultless hospitality.

The staff were very friendly and would bend over backwards to help you if you asked politely, it also helps to know a little french. They allowed us to order from the menu in the restaurant, were always on hand if you needed anything and also helped in booking taxis and tables at other restaurants.

Our room was a decent size with a welcome pack of a bottle of water, fruit bowl and biscuits. The beds were turned down and new towels were repaced every day without fail.

Breakfast was simple, although not as described online. Don't expect a huge fry-up, expect cereal, cheese, rolls, fruit and some to be honest unappealing eggs. But you won't go starving.

The hotel is about a 20 min taxi journey from the centre (150 dhm) you can get the free shuttle bus throught the day. Although we found it easier to share a taxi with another couple in the evenings to be economical.

All in all, the weather's great, pools cool, staff attentive and the food more than edible. The hotel may not be 5 star, i'll give it 5 out of 5 though. For week long holiday accommodation for under £200 a head, complaining about this hotel is like complaining that your Primark shoes are too tight.

..........I would like to give a special thanks to Braceface, Slick back-haired man and the Cherif the Taxi driver - made my holiday.

After arranging for the hotel to pick us up at the airport,I was disappointed to find that they were over an hour late. The driver escorted us to his clapped out beaten up dirty car,we were then driven to the hotel by this maniac driver.
Upon arrival I was a little concerned that a lady who had just arrived was immediately checking out !
There was no welcome drinks for us, never mind pastries. We eventually asked for water, only to be given 1 glass of water between two !!!
We were shown to our room which was very dimly lit.I was able to notice however that the bedding was soiled, the rugs not hoovered and there was a dead wasp on the floor. After a shower to freshen up before dinner,I then discovered that the drains were not free flowing and the floor had flooded everywhere. The sinks were also blocked, It was at this point the ant's decided to come out....GREAT !
Desperate for a gin we made our way to the bar.My husband ordered a burger, took one bite and discovered it was raw.The food is very over priced. At no point did any member of staff come near us to ask if there was a problem with our food.
Off to bed for a nights sleep......only to find in the morning sunlight that our pillow slips had not been changed since the last guests departed........horrified we left immediately.
Must mention the fact that the pool was filthy and we heard guest's complaining on our way out the door. This hotel is not hygienically fit for purpose !
On closing, please do not be fooled by the photograph's on their web site. They obviously have a fabulous marketing manager/photographer.
I now look forward to the cleverly worded response from the hotel manager.

We didn't even stay one night. Bad Service, The tiny pool was Filthy. They offerred us another villa however it was filthy also. This is not a 5 star hotel and it is miles out of Marrakech. Do yourself a favour and book into the Meridien, Sofitel or where we stayed, the ES SAADI Palace. In the Meridien we met other familiies that had stayed at Terre Resort and got out after one day. The Terre resort is a very tired hotel with no service. I equate it to a low budget hotel or backpackers hotel. It is not at all like the photos on the website. The only spendid thing about this hotel was the road out of it.

Dear Client,
we regret that you did not take advantage of our services. We consider that you arrived at property at 10 and you personally decide to leave at 12,00 am. So we understand now you had another reservation at another property and did not want to pay the penalty. We know that this was your problem. Please consider that we have clients coming all over the world and just a very little part write reviews. However our exposure it is max to any web. We will always fight reviews that have just personal reason behind but do not help Clients in the choice.

My wife and I have just been to Terre Resort in Morocco for our honeymoon this August. The resort was absolutely fantastic with spacious luxurious suites, excellent delicious food, a beautiful pool area which was never over populated, and air conditioned throughout. We were quite overwhelmed at how helpful, humble and friendly every member of staff was towards us. A fantastic find for relaxation. With it being situated a distance from Marrakech, one escapes the frenzied chaos found downtown, but for those seeking a taste of Moroccan culture, the FREE shuttle bus enables.
Our only tip would be to withdraw your dirham from the ATM prior to leaving the airport to save yourself wandering around the Moroccan maze (Marrakech) with no money, no water and no sun hat, but with plenty of beggars and a surplus of Celcius.

I took my wife here for 7 nights on our honeymoon.

The hotel itself is about a 40 minute drive from Marrakech airport, located in the Palmerie area of the city. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. We were given a free upgrade to the Romance Suite, which was beautifully decorated and very spacious in size.

The staff went out of their way to ensure that we received the highest level of service. One morning after breakfast for example, I asked a member of staff for an umbrella to be taken down to the small pool/jacuzzi area. Having gone back to our rooms to get changed, we went to the pool area to find two large umbrellas placed by our sun bed, which had been covered in towels and sprinkled with rosepetals. The staff go out of their way to get to know you, to know how/where you like to take your meals etc and they really do cater to your every need. They work around you and your expectations and needs. I cannot praise them highly enough.

The spa is a haven of tranquility and you are able to book sole use of the hammam to yourself, which my wife and I did. It was a good hour of relaxation. The food on the whole is great. Breakfast is lovely with a good selection of pastries and fruit, and the lunch menu is fantastic. My only criticism of the food would be the dinner menu, which was not as varied as it could have been. However, I would encourage everybody to venture into the Jema El Fnaa at least one evening, to sample local cuisine. The hotel staff were happy to arrange all the excursions we had planned and would have a driver at the door within half an hour of booking.

The hotel grounds are stunning, with long, windy paths leading to the rooms and many shady and seated areas set in the stunning gardens to keep you out of the glare of the midday sunlight if you wish. Even the fireworks at 10:30pm coming from Chez Ali next door did not dampen the experience for us. Other than these fireworks, the hotel is very quiet and peaceful during the day.

Would I go back? Certainly.

We have just returned from a nine night stay at the Terre Resort & Spa.....myself, wife and two daughters. We all agreed that this was one of the best holidays we have taken. Marrakech in July (and presumably August) is certainly hot. However, sensible use of sun-tan lotion and plenty of water generally sorts this out. Humidity is generally lower than many holiday destinations.

Just over a three hour flight from the UK and you're in Africa. Marrakech (particularly the Medina) is an incredible experience. Completely different culture, extremely friendly people and lots to see and do. Great food and sounds in this amazing city.

All of the tips on Trip Advisor (about restaurants etc) are well worth reading before you go.

And the Terre? Absolutely wonderful! Mr Crea and his staff will go completely out of their way to make your stay very enjoyable. There are many reports on this site about the hotel and some very valid comments, some good and some not. You will note that the manager always replies to people who have issues to raise. And that's the point....when you have a hotel where everyone is determined to make sure that you have a great time, it is very commendable.

We had a great and spacious room, the food was excellent and we were fortunate to meet some lovely people during our stay.

A five star endorsement from me!
