This is a great Riad a short walk from Djemaa El-Fna. You are very close to most attractions and my partner and I walked everywhere. It is also conveniently situated close to a small square which boasted shops (shop around in the markets first as the prices here are clearly for naïve tourists) and bars. Most people we met recommended the Kosybar as it is one of the few places which serve a good selection of alcohol, or alcohol full stop in the case of Morocco!
At the Riad we stayed in the suite on the roof which came with a private balcony - however, other guests were not aware that the private area above our room with its own bed was for this room only. There were two occasions when we could hear people above our heads at night which is really upsetting when you've paid for a romantic extra. If you choose to upgrade as we did, please double check with staff that they will make sure it is clearer to other guests that the very top balcony is expressly for your use only.
That little negative aside, the Riad was fantastic and the staff could not have been more helpful. It is very peaceful and there is enough distance between you and the hustle and bustle that the only thing that may bring you out of your sleep will be the prayers - which get blasted out of speakers at regular points through the day. This however really adds to the atmosphere and is a wonderful sound (apart from very first thing in the morning). WiFi is also lacking and my other half kept going for random walks around the Riad to try and pick up signal; so if you need to log onto your bank, or check emails etc, this can be a bit of a headache. Also we went to a Hammam, Saadian Tombs, Souqs, lots of eateries and drunk our bodyweight in Fresh orange juice and Mint Tea - which you must, and you really won't be disappointed. I also couldn't get enough of the Tajine's. Sorry, I digress; the Riad is excellent, and the airport transfers were great. The price was reasonable and I would recommend the Riad Dar One to any person heading to Marrakesh.

It's fairly obvious that this Riad has and deserves its reputation. We stayed for 4 nights during the Marrakech stretch of our trip. The owner, Jean Peres is accommodating and when not available, generally has excellent, multi-lingual staff on hand to assist. It is most definitely a welcome break from the overload of the medinah and the unrelenting sales pitches. We only ate one dinner here, but it was excellent. We then took the cooking "class" with Amina, who had also cooked our dinner the first night. The class was perhaps the highlight of our stay in Marrakech.

When arranging scheduled appointments with the staff, make sure you ask follow on questions; not everyone has the same level of (in our case) English. A 1500 (3:00PM) reservation for the hamam may mean you actually need to be ready to go at 1415. Same with the cooking class; payable in cash, which we didn't realize.

My boyfriend and I stayed here last week for 5 nights.

Before arriving in Marrakech, I had emailed Jean Peres, the owner of the Riad, who organised transport to and from the hotel at a reasonable price.

The driver met us at the airport and took us to the main road near the Riad. From there we were met by another gentleman who lead us down a little alleyway away from the main road and to the Riad - the noise disappeared as soon as you walked down the steps to the alleyway!

As soon as you entered the Riad, it was just so peaceful and beautiful. I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere so quiet. We were met by Jean who told us to come down from our room as soon as we were ready for a chat over some mint tea (which you would no doubt have A LOT of in Marrakech- their "whisky" as they call it! We went to our gorgeous room, the Petit Prince, which was small but not by any means too small. It was big enough for us! The bed and the bedding was also SO comfy.

We went downstairs after putting away our things, and then Jean talked us through some things we might like to see and do while marking things clearly on a map so we didn't ever get too lost (of course you would get lost in Marrakech but its part of the fun!). He also told us about a lovely restaurant nearby where we could get some dinner that evening, as we arrived around 5pm.

Throughout the week, everyone was really helpful at this hotel, and everything was fantastic. Breakfast was brought up to the roof terrace if you wanted to, excursions were planned if you wanted them, and we were even driven by Jean to the cookery course that they offer (which I highly recommend!)

The cookery course was brilliant, we were escorted by the lovely cook to the spice market, and then to the fruit and veg market to get our ingredients for what we wanted to cook. Then Jean picked us up and took us to a beautiful house outside of Marrakech's madness, where we could relax after cooking and eating. There is a pool if you want to swim as well. Thank you for this day it was lovely!

I would also recommend doing the trip to the mountains. This trip was organised for us and we were taken up to the mountains by a private driver, and met by someone else who took us up to the waterfalls safely. I would warn though to make sure to have appropriate footwear- trainers or walking shoes definitely, otherwise you might hurt yourself as it is really rocky and steep getting up to the waterfalls.

Everything about this place is brilliant, and for a smooth and relaxing stay in a busy and crazy city it is perfect. One thing that is always reassuring as well is how safe we felt staying here. The service is fantastic, at any time you need any help there would always be someone there.

We loved visiting, and I would love to return again one day. Thank you for looking after us!

Room Tip: Any is lovely, the Petit Prince is the smallest but by no means is it too small! But if you want the...

Marrakech was the highlight of our trip to Morocco. The Dar One was the finest and our favorite of all of the riads we stayed in. The staff we exceedingly friendly and helpful. They provided excellent service and assistance anytime we needed anything. The riad's rooms were spacious and the towels, linens, sheets and bedding were by far the best quality we experienced. The riad was quiet and tucked away from the noise of the streets but had great access to the Medina and Kasbah. The staff led us to locations and went out of their way to help us and were on duty what ever time we returned and as two women travelling together we felt very safe. Additionally, the internet signal was strong enough through out the property to access it anytime (not true in other places we stayed). The tour guide/driver Monsieur Jean Peres recommended for our driving tour of Morocco, Faycal Benhida, was great. Faycal was knowledgeable about all the different areas of the country and a really safe driver. He went out of his way to pay attention to details and make sure the areas, places and restaurants we went to were somewhere he thought we would enjoy and fit our style. We will most definitely return. Thanks Jean! Karen , Fort Worth, Texas

Superb from start to finish, we can only echo the reviews of others. Location, comfort, staff, Riad Dar One has it all and it was a genuine pleasure to stay here. We had the Scirocco room which is on the top floor. Very quiet and of course with the added advantage of a lovely day bed on it's own balcony above excessively for use by people staying in the Scirocco. Just one word of advice though, to reach the balcony above there is quite a steep iron circular staircase, maybe not for those that aren't still spritely? We used the Riads pick up service from the airport as again as most first-timers have stated until you know how to get to the Riad it's best to be taken! The car drops you offf, someone from the Riad is there to help with cases and guide you to Dar One through some pretty amazing alleys. However once you know where you are it's very easy to find your way around. The Riad has an excellent personalised map, again a lovely touch. Our first night we had dinner at the Riad, quite exquisite. Breakfasts are freshly squeezed orange, coffee/tea, lovely toasted bread, tasty yoghurt and various pancakes.
One discovered never forgotten is Dar One. Wonderful. Oh one more thing, superb bedding, beautiful 100% Egyptian Cotton, heavenly.

Room Tip: Scirocco for me because it's on it's own

My wife and I had a two night stay here and we would echo what previous reviewers have just said. Tucked away off the hectic streets and alleyways we had a wonderful welcome and found the staff very friendly and helpful. Our highlight was having our dinner prepared especially for us, the only diners, served on the rooftop terrace. It was a beautiful meal and was the highlight of our holiday in Morocco.
Great wee hotel. Thanks

Room Tip: Sirocco is very nice room

This was our second visit to Marrakech but our first stay in a Riad. Riad Dar One is a very special and unique place to stay. It has a very Moroccon feel with the most wonderful courtyard in the centre. The bedrooms also have a distinctly Moroccon feel but with the most fantastically comfortable beds and amazing bathroooms. The rooftop terrace is wonderful - a great place for lounging during the day on the incredibly comfortable day beds - but also rather magical at night when the whole place just glows with candlelight. Jean and his team are incredibly helpful and hospitable - they provided us on day one with an excellent map which includes recommendations of places to see and some great restaurants. They also arranged taxis, a tour guide, cooking and riding lessons outside of Marrakech. It was all completely hassle free and made for the most wonderful visit. We really couldn't fault the service in any way!

Room Tip: We stayed in two rooms on the first floor. One on the right at the top of the stairs and the other...
