Riad Les Bougainvilliers
Ranked #122 of 502 Hotels in Marrakech

Primly positioned in strolling distance of the atmospheric square and hustle a bustle like no other of the souk; whose pathways lead into its vibrant depths, enticing you like the open lids of lavishly filled treasure chests. The raid although only a corner away from such frenetic and fascinating activity is a haven nestled in a quite alleyway of the Medina. Coppery orange walls come either side of its entrance marked by a lofty wooden door, which when opened unveils a sanctuary of peace and calm in a modest and beautiful setting.

You will be greeted by the sincere, friendly and hospitable characters of Mounseff or Youseff. From arrival to the moment you leave they will do all they can to look after you and your party – you may, like I was, be filled with a sense of home-from-home. Their rich knowledge, of the area and community will ensure you are able to make the absolute most of your time and will be as much of a gem as the hidden ones you will find and haggle for in the souk.

I couldn’t help but notice the sweet pleasing aroma which hung in the air of my room when I first entered and was told the scent was for “happiness” - indeed that I felt. The Rooms are clean and subtle details and variants in the layout make them unique from the next. In signature of most chambers, is a concession of electric blue stained glass stars, which feature above the doorway, meaning you, will sleep with stars above each night.

After a day wondering the maze of the Medina, being charmed by snakes in the square or searching for leather pouffes, lanterns, spices, besides so much more beyond imagination in the souk; you can, and will be yearning to lull in the cool refreshing waters of the pool to the sounds of soothing jazz music. Or you could climb to the roof terrace, lie out on a lounger and go face-to-face with the brilliant blue back-drop of the sky embodied with its golden sun and allow its warm arms to wrap around your body.

I am certain these elements will go towards forming in you in your mind genuinely fond memories of your stay in Les Bougainvilliers and Marrakech.

I think the staff make this Riad a brilliant place to stay. We were a family of 4 who were plesently suprised by the welcoming atmosphere this Riad offers. Yusseuf and Monsif and fantastic, and their knowledge of the local area and things to do is great. They will tell you where to go, what to see and the expected price you should pay. They even took us to places in their spare time if not too far from the riad (so we would find it easily). Yusseuf is a great chef and he made us a veggie meal as the choices in Marrakesh aren't too great if you don't eat meat.
The Riad is located very close to the main square and an easy walk there. You will encounter a lot of traders trying to see somehtingto you everyday whilst on your walk back to the Riad. Help is easily available for those travelling with large luggage or children, and expect to pay someone around 10-20dh to take you luggage to/from riad to a taxi.
We would and have already recommended the riad to our family and friends, and if we visit Marrakesh again, we will most definately stay here. Thanks guys. Sunita

Riad Les Bougainvilliers was an absolute pleasure and joy to relax in for a week. It is truly an oasis location to stay in and to use as a base for sightseeing etc. The Riad itself is located down one of the many little alley ways, about 200-300m from the main square. Its best to pay someone 10 or 20 dirhams(equivalent of 1or 2euro) in order to guide you in the right direction, once you get out of a taxi. Yosef, the man who works during the daytime, is incredibly helpful and the most welcoming host! He advised us about many options on how best to see Marrakech. He is also a top class chef and offers a full lunch and dinner menu and even cookery lessons in Moroccan cuisine. We would advise getting a tour guide on the first day, 30euro per couple for the full day. The riad has their own guide, Omar, a really genuine person and great fun. Monsef, the man who works nights, is incredibly descent and advised us continually throughout the week about the normal prices of things, where to eat, etc.. Every single day, your bedroom is cleaned and tided and you also get fresh towels. This Riad is entirely safe and secure as their is always someone there, plus each room has a safe. There is a beautiful terrasse on the rooftop along with a little outdoor pool, which is great at this time of the year!! The photos available for viewing are accurate, but the riad in real life is much more beautiful and very tastefully decorated! We will be forever grateful to Yosef, Monsef and the two breakfast ladies, for accommodating us so well and for making our first visit to Morocco and Marrakech so peaceful..!

Lovely peaceful Riad, yet so close to all the action. Perfectly placed for walking to the Place Jemaa El Fna and the souks and also out to the Palaces south of the medina. We used the Riad to organise a trip out to the Ourika valley which was a really nice day trip.

We moved here from another Riad and absolutely loved the calm serenity of this Riad. It's only 2min walk from the big square and the souks and when you step out of the heat and hectic activity into this Riad you can immediately feel the tranquility and the coolness that is.

The staff were fabulous and incredibly helpful, Mansoud (sp?) especially and Youssef as well, just as the other reviews suggest.

Two thumbs up!
