“Great time at Dar Najat”
Reviewed 7 December 2009

12 of us travelled to Marrakech for a long weekend of sun, sights and shopping... It's our third year in a row and this was easily the best of the Riads we've stayed in.
Location - excellent. It's about 5-7 minute walk to the main square and is easily navigated. In the past we've either dealt with finding our way through the souks or walking along a main road full of mopeds/scooters to get to/from riad. Dar Najat is only 3 turns along quiet streets!
Service/Staff - The staff are amazing! We basically had 3 people looking after us the whole time. This included walking us to the main square the first day so we knew exactly how to get there, to serving breakfast as late as 1pm, to afternoon tea everyday. Better than that though, they joined in the fun and laughter and just made the whole stay a wonderful experience.
Food - breakfast was great and definitely something to get up for each day. We didn't eat dinner at the Riad, but will have to try it next time as I know it can be arranged.
Rooms - Clean, air/heat, nicely decorated. Typical riad style rooms... The roof deck is a great place to relax and enjoy the sun. Oh - hot tub wasn't really hot, but would probably be good during the summer months when it's hot outside...
Misc - Gave us a mobile to carry around with number of staff and riad in case we got lost (great touch!). Also, free internet!!!
Price - very reasonable for what you get.
Overall - a fantastic place to stay and would absolutely recommend this place to everyone who goes to Marrakech.

Just like people, Riads have their own personalities and if Riad dar Najat were a person, Riad dar Najat would be the cool friend you admire for his casual and eclectic air and his first-rate ability to both look after his friends and respect their personal space.

Clean, relaxed, warm, inviting with a rooftop communal area to chat with fellow guests or proprietor Oliver, who, like his staff, is professional and ready to make your stay the absolute best he possibly can.

Some of my favorite memories while visiting: a dip under a big full moon while in the roof-top pool. An eclectic mix of uplifting, world beat tunes playing behind great meals and conversations with travelers from all over the world.

I've been on the move for three months on my trip around the world. My stay here has been just what I needed and will easily be one of my favorite places to stay.

There are plenty of places to chose from while staying in Marrakech, but you will absolutely not be disappointed if you choose Riad dar Najat as your Moroccan sanctuary. Just wait till you meet Oliver, the experience will be unforgettable and you'll be hard-pressed not to highly recommend the place as I have.

This is a really relaxed and friendly Riad. The staff were brilliant and happy to organise anything for you, from day trips, restaurants and tour guides. They gave really good recommendations on restaurants and organised bookings for us. The food and drink was good and available whenever you needed something. The staff spoke english and were very helpful and polite. It is also in a great location and easy to find your way to the main square. The staff are happy to show you the way anywhere if you are not sure. They also gave you a local mobile phone for use during your stay which was a great idea, already programmed with the Riad's number and some of the staff mobiles for you to call if you needed to. Very clean and well looked after Riad which was a very chilled out place to be away from the noise and intensity of the Medina. Great attention to detail and nothing was too much trouble. We will return!

The Riad dar Najat was really like an oasis in the middle of Marrakech (and it was literally in the middle - a very central location only a 5 minute walk from Jemaa El Fna square).

Our travelling group had two of the rooms booked (Souad and Walida) which were very comfortable. The rooms and the entire riad were beautifully decorated with most of the pieces made by our host Oliver himself! The breakfasts were nice and if you feel so inclined, I highly recommend having dinner at the riad one night and trying their lamb and prune tagine - the best lamb I've ever had and I'm an Aussie!

Oliver and his staff were very welcoming and immediately made us feel like we were at home - this made a nice break from the intensity of the square and souks. The staff accompanied us to various locations when we didn't know where we were going and when we asked to use their hot tub (despite it being winter), they even called out a plumber to ensure it was working for us!

I can't stress how helpful and accommodating Oliver and his staff were and I highly recommend staying at the Riad dar Najat.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The Riad is beatuiful, we stayed in the souad room which was again lovely. The Staff went out of their way to help even walking us the 5 minute stroll to the main square to ensure we didn't get lost. the breakfast's were fantastic and I've never felt so at home whilst on holiday. Perfect.

We stayed for a long weekend at the end of November. We were met at the airport by Abdul (an excellent and careful driver). All the staff are very freidnly and will do anything to help you enjoy your stay. Saiid escorted us to the main square and ensured we could find our way back through the maze of alleyways. Oliver said that if we got lost we could ring and someone would come and find us. Excellent Breakfasts were a good start to the day - more than we could eat. Oliver arranged a day trip to a Sunday market and the Atlas mountains. We ate in one night - a good value meal in a romantic atmosphere. All in all a very relaxing stay and I would recommend Dar Janat very highly.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. The staff treated us brilliantly. For example, the owner insisted on calling his family doctor, who did a house call to the Riad to care for my wife who suffered a bee sting. The staff also spent an hour setting up the Ireland/France world cup qualifier on the TV (although unfortunately couldn't influence the result!) The rooms were spotless and decorated in a very trendy African theme. We had two dinners there, both scrumptious, and we got great recommendations from the owner on the things to see in Marrakech (incl. a fun cooking class). All in all, the Riad is a wonderful balance to an often hectic city and I will certainly be directing friends and family this way.
