“Perfect for the end of a very hot day!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2009

Just returned from Marrakech last night. This riad was fantastic in terms of friendliness and service. (The only reason I have scored it very good as opposed to excellent is the location - haven't been to other riads so maybe it's normal but - found the area a little bit 'off the beaten track' and at times felt uncomfortable when walking to and from the riad.

As others reviewers have said, Hasan deserves a specific mention - he can't do enough for you and his tea was the best we had. Fatima - great omelettes! and she had made a fantastic banoffi pie for my cousin's 'special' birthday.

Peter was great in organising everything we wanted to do. We ate at Al Fassia which was excellent (and the air-conditioning very welcome!). Peter arranged the taxi for us and the driver waited all night outside the restaurant. Had really good food at the Cafe Arabe - lovely courtyard with a covered over roof during the day and open in the evening. Peter organised our own private day trip to the Atlas mountains (only 120 euros for the day for 3 of us in an air-conditioned people carrier). Visited Kasbah Tamadot (Richard Branson's place) - very luxurious with amazing views but you could be anywhere. Visited Kasbah Toubkal - the driver had arranged for our own guide to walk us up there - note of caution, it is about an hour's walk from the village to the Kasbah over rough ground. You can take the donkey! We had then wanted to relax for a bit and Peter arranged a stop at a B&B with pool where we had lunch and swim in lovely pool.

On our last day, we spent the day at Beldi Country Club just 6kms out of Marrakech and 15 mins from airport - well worth a visit if you just want to chill out for the day by the pool, under the olive trees and away from the hustle and bustle of the medina! 350 dirhams for the whole day with lunch and pool. We got changed there and got taxi back to airport.

I can't end this review without mentioning the weather! It was so, so hot - on one day it got up to 49 degrees in the medina! However, the mountains were a much more pleasant 30 degrees. We only discovered when we got back that Morocco has been having a heatwave!

What a wonderful introduction to Marrakech! Peter and Hasan made it so unbelivably easy to learn to navigate this city! From the very beginning they provided us with excellent help and advice about things to see (and how not to get lost!), and the Dar itself is beautiful and peaceful and a wonderful way to begin and end the day. Thank you so much for your hospitality, and for allowing us to stay in your wonderful Dar!

A really enjoyable weekend in Marrakech was perfect thanks to Peter, Hasan and Fatima's hospitality at Dar Zaman. Peter's very friendly and welcoming and has got 2 gems working with him in the Riad. We were met by Hasan at the taxi drop off which is a minute from the Riad and taken to the Riad which is in a perfect location - far enough to quiet during the night and morning breakfast and near enough to get lost in the Souks within minutes!

Fatima's tagine was out of this world and my wife and I enjoyed a meal in beautiful dining area on the first night.

Hasan was great at meeting any of our needs and would readily pull out the map and point us in the right direction when we needed to plan our days. He really goes out of his way and even went out to buy fruit for us when my wife wasn't feeling well.

Overall a brilliant Riad and one that I'll visit without a doubt when back in Marrakech!

Completely lived up to expectations. Gorgeous riad, lovely roof terrace where you can have breakfast and relax/sunbathe. Great great service, Peter supplied an excellent map (very helpful the medina is a maze). Peter, Fatima and Hassan couldn't have been more helpful. The breakfast and evening meal were the best we had in Morocco.

'Loved this small, beautifully appointed Riad. Peter and Hasan met us in the nearby square and escorted us and our luggage to this hidden gem.

With only four guest rooms, you feel very much at home at Dar Zaman. Peter has thought of everything, down to an essential, but oft overlooked iPod charging station in one of the common rooms. He and his staff, Hasan and Fatima, go out of their way to make sure that you have everything you need. Hasan even made us an early breakfast and walked us out to catch a cab the morning of our departure.

Our room was cozy, beautiful and quiet with a luxurious feeling bathroom. The roof deck and common rooms were also decorated to make you feel very comfortable and at home. The small fountain/pool in the middle of the courtyard is an extra nice touch.

My only regret with Dar Zaman is that we didn't arrange to have dinner at the riad at least one night. Other guests there raved about Fatima's cooking. Based on the daily delicious breakfasts, my guess is that the dinner would have been amazing!

If I can get my family to Marrakech, we'll definitely stay here.
