We went for a short-break at the beginning of May for my husband's 50th birthday treat. The hotel is about 15 minute drive from the airport. On arrival we were met with a whole host of staff who took our bags and provided us with a much needed cold refreshing drink. Our room was pleasant enough, on the second floor looking out onto the pool but the view below was not so pleasant because it was the top of the restaurant and noisy air-con units. Ah well, they have to put them somewhere. The bed was AMAZING. Absolutely huge with the softest pillows I've ever had. Linen was clean and I had the most amazing 3 nights sleep. The bathroom wasn't perfect but it was good enough with no major problems but I would rather hope that with all the complaints about the walls in the bathroom that they may wish to employ a tiler and tile the shower portion.

The hotel has 2 pools. A quiet one and a noisy one - we choose the quiet one for the few hours that we spent at the pool. I always complain about Germans and sun-beds but I've got to complain about the English here too. Each morning by 5am the beds at the noisy pool were covered in towels. REALLY!!!! Get a life!!!! One couple had secured 2 sun-beds and a round sun-lounger big enough for 4 and they hopped from one to the other. Greedy little tikes.

The bar next to the restaurant was brilliant and had live music and was a lovely place to have drinks of an evening.

The restaurant was brilliant and the choice was amazing. I cannot fault the food at all and there was something different every night. I'm the picky one being vegetarian and gluten free but there was plenty for even me. My tastebuds were well tickled.

The staff are amazing. So kind, so helpful and so friendly. My only complaint was our flight was late at night and we had booked a room to change. There was only one room for a whole flight load of passengers and despite booking a time slot, some people took longer than their allocated 20 minutes and by the time we got showered and changed it was time to go. Perhaps they could improve on this service.

The hotel is located right inside the Medina and a 5 minute walk to the marketplace and souks. It is fab.

The guest services manager was Imad and he was so helpful so I have to name him for his outstanding customer service.

My boyfriend and I went here for a weeks romantic getaway and we had the most amazing time. We are both like 'Dora the explorers', so the location of this hotel could not have been any more perfect for us. Literally a five minute walk and we were at the souks. All the main attractions were just a walking distance away, which was great as we hate sitting by the pool all day. On a trip we stopped off at the other Thomson hotels and they are miles out from the centre, which just seemed like a waste of a trip to the city really as you are not getting the full cultural experience. It was great not to have any kids at our hotel, it was so much more relaxing and peaceful. The hotel's makeover has been done to a fantastic standard, really quite beautiful inside and out. The grounds were spotless and well maintained - gardeners are working on them literally all the time. Every member of staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming and available to see. The rep Ahmed was lovely too, which made for a nice change. The food is impeccable and there were different tagines available every single night. The whole hotel, experience and everything was just so perfect. It is hard to find any fault, however if I was to make one slightly negative remark it would be the night entertainment. They had two guys singing most evening, which was great to start with but got very repetitive after hearing them repeat the same songs every night. It would have been great for them to have mixed it up a bit. We got so bored by them we often just went to the indoor bar or to our room instead to watch a film! All the same, we had a great time!

Room Tip: Ask for first floor upwards...ground floor is too close to the pool which can at times quite noisy, and not as private.

I have just returned home from a week at Medina Garden which I had the pleasure of staying at with my husband to celebrate our 40th birthdays. When we arrived we were greeted by the hotel manager.. Everything was GREAT !!!

The food was of a very high standard with a lot of choice, The hotel was very comfortable both in the rooms and on the sun loungers, it was a very relaxed, peaceful environment, with a nice music from the DJ CHAKIB, thank you so much !
The staff were very attentive to our needs, Drinks were brought out to you by the pool…
This was my 1st visit to Marrakech and I was pleasantly surprised by the very high standard of service that this hotel offered. I would love to come back for another visit with either my mum or the girls once again.

Well done Thomsons, I am currently staying at Medina Gardens with my husband...what a lovely hotel, in lovely settings....and bonus , walking distance to Souks. Food cannot be faulted and the staff are just so polite and helpful. Our room is ground floor overlooking g pool, little bit noisy, but finishes early enough at night not to cause problems with sleep. It is very hot here at the moment, around 40...so the excellent air conditioning is a life saver!!! All inclusive and couples only...definitely the way forward for our future holidays! I would put this on parr with Riu hotels 4 +, lovely...will be back.....xxxx

Room Tip: Quiet on garden view if you don't want constant music from the pool area

This is a new Thomson property, and as such may introduce risk and concerns to aspiring visitors.

Two weeks after attending and having read all the reviews on here, I thought it was time to give a point of view that adds to the material.

We approached Marrakesh, and Thompson issued all passengers a landing card, the suggestion was to fill these in on-board to save time. On arrival at Marrakesh the cards were rejected by immigration as they where Tunisian landing cards (thank god we landed at the correct airport). Everyone was frustrated by this, and we all had to fill in a new card. Initially. we thought it was the Morocco Customs fault, but it appears to have been Thompson.

Once we had found the tour bus to take us to hotel, our Thompson rep asked us to complete a set of forms without instruction, there was one form, and two of us, so we put both our details on the form. When we arrived at the hotel, our forms were rejected as they only wanted the details of one attendee. At this point, we were all left wondering if Thompson had ever heard of computers, and we were to be asked to complete yet another form we would explode. So the hotel was totally undermined before we actually arrived for their very nice welcome.

The bathroom had not been tiled, with the plasterboard lifting at the side of the bath. Arriving in the dark the un-renewed grouting looked dirty especially arriving in the dark. First impressions count and it was not looking good. After viewing the rest of the property, I had came to the conclusion that perhaps they had a tiling contractor and they had failed to deliver on the goods?

After a few days, we settled down and where reasonably happy.
The restaurant was generally OK, apart from the low ceilings associated with some of the feeding stations. If you are tall look out for the red and white safety warning tape in the dining area, I banged my head several times - sharp concrete angles do not forgive.
The entertainment at times, may have received Simon Cowels red rather than gold buzzer - I guess it is a matter of taste or hearing?

I did not observe any fire instructions in our room, as mentioned in other reviews as an issue that Thompson was supposed to have resolved. As a Management Consultant, I was left to think about corporate governance, the risks Thompsons are taking, and what if there was a major fire event, then potentially corporate manslaughter? I want to relax on holiday and not have to think about these things!

The staff at the hotel are excellent, unfortunately let down and undermined by bad management?

The free wifi is very good, recieving 19 mbits by the small pool on the edge of the resort, and 9 mbits in my bed - (very good)

In summary, this is a very good hotel with lots of potential, but it is a shame though in that was experienced above should not have happened - both guests and caring hotel staff have been undermined.

Thompson has not provided a response to any review on here and that speaks volumes.
In summary, great staff, potentially great hotel, big concerns about operator. 80% good, 20% questionable.

Would i go back - yes.

If you go, you will have made a good choice, but fundamentals such as safety and well being of Customers should be paramount and Thompsons need to wake up and get it together and resolve the issues.

I was not left with the feeling that Thompson understood that the customer experience begins at the booking stage and ends with getting back home.
