“Brilliant getaway”
Reviewed 24 July 2014 via mobile

This is the second time I have used Thomson couples and both times been very happy.

The hotel is situated very close to the city centre but doesn't feel like it.

Rooms very good and food on offer broad and great quality. The only let down foodwise the Indian restaurant which I would give a miss.

The quiet pool is a brilliant idea, perfect for sleeping by the pool or reading your book without the noise of the main pool. No shortage of sun loungers either.

Staff extremely helpful and friendly. The guest services manager was excellent and always available.

It's a 10minute walk to the souks. I wouldn't recommend the garden excursion. The quad bike 1/2 day I would have done twice if I had the time.

Will definitely be back.

All in all genuinely a very good hotel (bar the indian restaurant). The place is set out nicely, with two lovely pools, table tennis, with huge and well laid out gardens and plenty of places to relax in the sun or shade. The rooms are fine, the bars are nice enough and the drinks selection/quality is good enough to keep you interested. The staff are friendly and helpful and the location is perfect for visiting the souk, main square and the medina. The food is generally good, theres a decent selection and the quality is perfectly adequate. There are two alternative choices for food, an indian restaurant and a steak house. We didn't get around to trying the steak but we did (unfortunately) visit the indian. Both my partner and I were unwell as a result and judging by the reports of various others on here and at the hotel it sounds like we weren't alone.

Overall, excluding the indian experience, we would happily go back

This hotel is lovely. Very clean and food of a good quality, although the Indian restaurant on the complex wasn't upto a very good standard. I particularly like the abundance of sunbeds spread around the pool and gardens and the 4 posters are just the best!
Unfortunately my husband was ill and a dr had to be called within a few hours of arrival and due to the nature of his illness we were not able to leave the hotel. Ahmed the Thompson rep was brilliant and even went out to the chemist to get my husbands medicine. I offered to go with him but he said it was all taken care of. Sarah the entertainment rep was also very friendly and engaging. We will be going back as we want to sample the souks and bars but it didn't spoilt our trip too much as the hotel was so nice.

Room Tip: Overlooking the pool provides a fantastic view but can be a little noisy if you want to go to bed be...

My girlfriend and I visit Medina Gardens 10/07/14 - 18/07/14, and had an enjoyable time. However, there was a couple of issues that put a downer on the holiday.

When we arrived we found out that the hotel is actually called "Couples - Medina Garden". Obviously this was no issue for us, but a number of families who said they'd probably have booked elsewhere if they'd have known.

The hotel itself is lovely. The grounds are massive, plenty of sunlounges, and are there are tortoises roaming around freely. There are two well sized pools, tennis courts and table tennis tables. The hotel is brilliantly located in the old city and is only 5-10 minutes walk to the main square and the souks.

The main issue with the hotel is that it's quite boring. The evening entertainment was mainly two guys and a guitar singing. To be fair, they were very good, but after 3 nights the songs became very repetitive. The Moroccan acrobat group were incredible... but only provided a 10 minute performance. One of the evenings was called 'Chill-out night', which was one massive cop-out to say "We've not actually arranged anything." I was informed that Sarah, was one of the reps who arranged the entertainment. If that was the case, then Sarah is useless.

Although I enjoyed the food, my girlfriend and four other people were horribly ill after eating the Chicken Tikka Massala at the Indian Restaurant. Despite people visiting Sarah to tell her about their issues, both her an the hotel just palmed the issues off and claimed it to be Deli Belly. When you pay for an all-inclusive holiday, the last thing you want is to be in bed for 2 days due to the food.

Other than that, it was a lovely and relaxing week. The only other advise I'd give is DO NOT go on the Gardens tour with Thomsons. One garden is fantastic, the other is a muddy reservoir, and the horse ride is around a building site.

Room Tip: If you want to go to bed early, try to get a room away from the pool

We couldn't help but fall in love with Marrakech. This hotel was perfect as we didn't want to be around children, so this adults only suited us to a tee. Arrival we were greeted with cocktails and nibbles. Our cases were taken off us and put by the lifts.. BUT the doorman wouldn't let us touch them! Lol.. We were told "we will bring them to your room" so we all went to out rooms and had to wait.. We didn't mind but in all honesty this was a bit hectic in the lobby. The room didn't disappoint as we were greeted with petals on the bed, in bathroom and in the loo!! Fab! The room was clean and comfortable, water and wine and fruit were left for us too. The Restaurant was ambient and a good variety of food was served day and night. Service in the restaurant was excellent.. The other restaurant (Indian) was outside and this was fine as the weather was very hot!! The hotel is close to the medina where you can weave in and out the stalls and shops and barter with the locals. It's cheap to buy things as the currency is a closed currency and 100 Dh is approx £7. Staff at the hotel treated us well and were very friendly throughout. Two pools one for music and louder ambience and the other a quieter one.. The gardens were well maintained and enough sun beds for all. The hotel offered a spa, tennis courts and table tennis along with scheduled activities. A shop on site and various bars to use through out the day till late evening.

Stayed here from 3rd July 2014 for 11 nights. I can only echo what most people have said. Hotel staff are efficient and friendly and want only for you to have the best holiday experience. Aside from the quick check in, beautifully appointed rooms, immaculately clean hotel everywhere, little touches like canopy beds/couples beds around the grounds, the guest service manager Imad came around consistently throughout our stay asking all guests if they were happy and if there was anything that could be done to improve their stay. Of course, sometimes things don't always go to your liking but in our experience they bend over backwards to solve the problem to your satisfaction. Our steak night didn't quite go as planned and as Imad came to our table to to ask us about it (we're not ones to complain unless it was really bad and this wasn't... Just a mistake with me not wanting sauce on my steak and us having to eat separately) but they insisted on a free steak meal the following night which they made sure was perfect. I always think the test of a great hotel is not what they get right but how they deal with things that go wrong. I must say this is warranted 5 star service. The hotel is small but this leads to an intimate environment, just perfect if you want to escape to somewhere tranquil for a complete relax ( we went during Ramadan and even the call to prayer frequently throughout the day didn't really spoil the tranquility ). As otherwise mentioned, the entertainment is casual just like the hotel but we are not ones who are really bothered and in our well travelled experience it rarely is up to much in most hotels. I am fussy with food but the restaurant is excellent and I always managed to eat well. The nice touches were even there when we left, with Imad, reps and even the hotel manager Frederic, who we saw regularly during our stay came out to say farewell and come back soon. How may other hotels have you ever had that in? Not many I warrant. Don't take note of any negativity regarding this hotel. You will be hard pushed to find anywhere so well placed, and so welcoming. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends which is a great endorsement in itself. Book it people....you won't be disappointed.
