“Beautiful Riad, Great hospitality”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Stayed here 3nights and was completely satisfied. Upon arrival we were greeted with refreshing, freshly squeezed Moroccan orange juice to drink during our payment transaction. Habib, the Riad manager, was extremely helpful in offering to arrange excursions, giving us maps of the city and would confirm breakfast times every morning in case we had excursions or wanted to sleep in, Every morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast that varied each day. The rooms are magnificent and we truly felt like we were in a Palace. The pool is also extremely refreshing to swim in after being in the heat all day. As for location, the Riad is not too far from the square-about a 15 minute walk but can be confusing for a first timer. Habib was helpful in explaining the route to and from the souks. This experience was a spectacular one and I would recommend Riad Davia to anyone, A perfect example of traditional Moroccan hospitality.

This weekend i went on a 3 night trip with a good friend to Marrakech and stayed in the Medina at Riad Davia. Riad Davia is located on a small side street near Bab Aylen. It was a nice walk from the Square and Souks but not too far. This Riad has a very intimate setting, only housing about 5 rooms so its a very homey feeling. Habib, the manager was very helpful, and interactive. The transfer from the airport was 30 euros round trip for the two of us. He was very lenient about checking in and checking out times. We arrived at about 10pm thursday night and left Sunday night at 10. He was completely generous about us hanging around and/or leaving our bags until departure. Upon arrival he provided us with maps and directions to get to the most visited places like the Square, where the Souks and Restaurants are located. He even took the time to show us the route by walking us. When we tried to walk back, we got lost, we gave him a call and a landmark and he quickly came to meet us. The breakfast was delicious and it varied daily. I could on and on about how pleasant my stay was at Riad Davia, but I highly recommend this location. Two other friends stayed at another Riad and there experience was similar to that of a general hotel. Overall I am pleased, and would recommend Davia to anyone.

Riad Davia is a small very nice and charming hotel. It feels "like home". We spend a very great week with our 2 children (5 and 9). there's a small pool, the breakfasts were big and different every morning ! The manager is very fridenly and polite. He arranges for us some visits (essaouira and the ourika valley). The room were very pleasant. We recommend this stay eyes closed !

I stayed at Riad Davia with my wife in the beginning of the year. I would recommend it anytime, it's good value for the price, the host is super friendly and helpful with everything. Locationwise it's not ideal, it's about a 15-20min walk to the main square. There could have a been a bit more variation in the breakfast offered at the Riad, it was a bit too dough-heavy for me, I missed fried / boiled eggs and some fresh fruits. The floor on the mezzanino could have been a bit cleaner as well. Otherwise, great service, friendly people and a good place to stay for sure!

Riad Davia is a nice, quiet spot within the crowded and chaotic medina of Marrakech. The riad's manager is polite and friendly. He is very helpful and organized several things for us, that do not belong to the 'regular hotel services' (e.g. free cups of tea, bottles of water for our journey, the delivery - in downtown Marrakech - of an item that we left in our room after our departure).
Some features are to be improved, though: breakfast is moderate (no fresh juice, no fruit, no yoghurt), having a shower turns the bathroom into a swimming pool…
The riad is situated within the medina, but in a part without any tourist attractions (near Bab Aylen). The disadvantage is, that you always have to walk for at least 20 minutes if you want to visit a point of interest. But on the other hand: you are in the middle of local Moroccan life!
All together, Riad Davia is an agreeable place to stay for a couple of nights.

Room Tip: Riad Davia is a nice, quiet spot within the crowded and chaotic medina of Marrakech. The riad's...

Just returned from eight days in Marrakech where my boyfriend and I stayed in Riad Davia.

Location-wise, it is a 10-15 min walk from the main square which means you are deep in the local area and you don't notice the other tourists until you are about 5 minutes away from the square. This was really great for us as we enjoyed being that little bit further out in the less touristy areas, however it is important to bear in mind that if you are wanting to wear slightly more skimpy clothing-which is acceptable in the more tourist parts- you have to walk 10-15 mins through the really local part to get to the square where this isn't really acceptable (people will stare).

The riad itself is really cosy and well priced- we paid roughly £400 for the eight days. However, something we were not sure about is that you get charged for EVERYTHING extra- every drink that you order, including the bottles of water (you can't drink from the tap- generally I would advise you to buy your water from the shops and put it in the fridge/freezer). So be prepared for those extras to be on your bill. We ate dinner one night in the riad which was really lovely (my boyfriend considered it the best chicken tagine he had ever eaten). We had a pasta salad, bread, the tagine, and then cut up nectarine. It was, however, the most expensive meal we ate the whole time-particularly considering the fairly inexpensive ingredients, so if you are trying to keep the price down, watch out for this.

Despite the cosiness of the riad, it is important to bear in mind that the main area to relax in is the covered courtyard which is quite small so if you want to keep yourself to yourself (and who doesn't when they are on holiday!?) then I would make sure you get one of the suites with the little balconies overlooking the courtyard (there are two of these rooms). That way you can sit and relax in the evenings without necessarily having to mingle!

The staff are absolutely lovely (we only met two of them). The main member of staff, Habib, was absolutely charming- some might consider him over-friendly! But that is a matter of opinion. He made sure we had everything we wanted- he even brought a present up to our room for my boyfriend on his birthday and made sure he had the food he liked for his birthday breakfast! I suppose this wouldn't be the riad for you if you want to keep to yourself completely and come and go as you please. You don't have a key, you have to knock, so you have to have a chat whenever you leave and arrive etc.

Overall, a lovely, traditional, quiet riad with amazing service and everything you could need. I wouldn't chose another one!

Room Tip: Go for one with a balcony so if you don't want to mingle in the riad courtyard you can have some...
