“Modern Italian Luxury in a great location”
Reviewed 10 January 2010

This Raid was a great find for us, we had just drove for 4 days from Fes and parked the car near the main square and was speaking to a shop owner when she mentioned her friend owned this, she called him and he sent staff to gather out bags and walk there.

The first room we had was a two story affair in a avant garde italian feel with a huge painting and other nice touches. This was 60 Euro and the only room they had. They moved us to a larger room with a great bathtub and bathroom, after the first room had a odor issue with the septic/pipes.

We loved the feel there, and the entire riad is well appointed, though there was some issues with the service, like breakfast not complete in the offerings depending when you went to eat, and other minor housekeeping issues that more the managements problem then the staff itself, they were always attentive and worked hard, just needed to be guided better in their days work...

The location is superb, there are many Raids in the same street as well, at all levels of price, so shoot for this place first, if not, plenty to choose from steps away.

We actually preferred the Medina in Fes to Marrekech as well the cuisine options, the Medina is Marrakech was more touristy, motos were allowed to buzz everywhere, and the food was just a lot of the same, no variety in our eyes, and more a factory of culinary servings...but thats just us...

Enjoy, Morocco is a lovely country, its people are gems, and the desert drive from Fes was a highlight...

The Hotel du Tresor is a lovely little gem that is wonderfully well-located only steps away from the marketplace yet it is still serene and tranquil and quite romantic too. The entire staff is wonderfully refined and sensitive and we were treated like royalty during our stay! One staff member in particular, Amine, assisted with all our requests and no detail was too small for him to graciously and enthusiastically provide assistance to us. We love this riad and considered our stay there absolutely outstanding!

I visited Marrakech for 7 days and stayed at Hotel du Tresor the entire time. I truly enjoyed my stay in Marrakech and a lot of it was because I was able to find a great place as my base so that I can truly enjoy exploring the medina without feeling rushed. The location is perfect! It's a 2-3 minute walk to Jemaa el Fna, the main square. Despite the labyrinth-like nature of the medina, it was fairly easy to find the hotel after the 1st try (but don't temp to find it on your own upon arrival - make sure somebody meets you to walk you to the hotel). Though the alleys seem dark, I felt safe the entire time walking back and forth regardless of the time.

Breakfast was served every morning starting at 8 or 8:30 until 11. Selection is pretty standard (different kinds of bread, eggs, yogurt, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee/tea) but it seemed to taste really good when enjoyed on the rooftop of the hotel as you listen to the birds chirping on the hotel's orange tree in the courtyard (the hotel is a modernized/converted riad). The rooms that I stayed at are smallish but one would normally expect that at the price, though room 5 (En Double) is really small (pretty but small) so if you're slightly claustrophobic, I would avoid this as it's on the ground floor and you can't really open the window to let air in unless you don't mind people, who are sitting in the courtyard, looking in.

The hotel manager, Amin, was tremendously helpful. He can you ideas on how much things may cost and made recommendations/reservations for things like hammam and restaurants. The entire staff was nice and friendly but expect that most don't speak English.
