Owner description: The world-renowned cooking workshops at La Maison Arabe are open to hotel guests and those staying elsewhere in Marrakech. The workshops are run by a dada (traditional Moroccan chef), a translator (French/English), and include a visit to a nearby spice market and communal bread oven. After the workshop, during which every participant has worked alongside the dada at his or her own workstation, one dines on the delicious meal that's been prepared. “Highlight of our trip”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Marrakech is a city of hidden beauty, and the location of the cooking school is no different....a 2 acre garden oasis 10 minutes outside of town. The staff takes care of everything- shuttle to and from the venue- very easy. The day is perfectly planned- a great combination of learning, listening and doing. The facility is very modern, clean and beautiful and the careful instruction makes everyone feel like a great chef. The instructor spoke fluent English and was very insightful about Moroccan food. Its a great opportunity to socialize with your other classmates and enjoy a great lunch in a beautiful and relaxed setting. This was the highlight of our trip for sure.

“Great Experience”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Had a fantastic day, one of the best experiences on my many travels. It was fun and exciting. Very professional, kitchen and cooking stations were of a very high standard. Well worth the money( approx. £44). Once the food was cooked we all sat down outside to eat. I paid extra to have a glass of wine (taster) with each course. Excellent.
Thanks to Dada and the rest of the staff you were great.

“Excellent fun!”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

This was really enjoyable, a small group of us only about 8 people, so a good class size. Wonderful teachers, made it fun and you learnt a traditional dish whilst also shown how to make the local tea. At the end you all sit and eat what you have cooked in the gardens. Also a bit of time away from the hustle & bustle of Marrakech. Perfect!

“A Marrakech must!”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

Our day at the Maison Arabe Cooking School was an absolute delight.

We were not sure how it would go as we started with a lesson on how to make bread and Moroccan mint tea. It was informative but a bit formal. Well...it did not take long for the tone to change. Our Dada ( Moroccan Chef), her Manager and assistant all started to laugh and entertain as well as teach us about Moroccan cuisine. The entire class, including lunch afterwards, takes only about 4 hours but we learned a lot about spices and techniques.

The cooking school is located outside the Medina but a shuttle takes you to and from Maison Arabe. The kitchen was high tech with monitors at each cooking station. The equipment was new and everything was clean and well planned for our class. They are well prepared and able to accommodate about 16 guests.

We thought the price was reasonable and well worth a day of educational fun. My husband even enjoyed himself and now assists me with cooking with my tagine!

La Maison Arabe Cooking class was one of the highlights of our trip to Morocco.

“Great cooking class in English in Marrakech”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

We took this cooking class on our last day in Marrakech - and it was amazing! We had rang up that morning - they were not planning to run an afternoon class - but they decided to anyways, and it was just for the two of us!

This wasn't some amateur cooking class put together by a riad owner or a maid - they run these all the time and even have a purpose built cooking class kitchen to accommodate a big group. There are TV screens at each workstation to see what the chef instructor is doing, and the whole room is air conditioned so a very comfortable experience indeed.

We learned how to make Moroccan salads and a chicken lemon tagine. We then got to eat our creations - as well as a dessert from the kitchen - in their tranquil restaurant at the Maison Arabe hotel where the cookery school is located.

At 600 Dirhams per person it isn't a cheap experience for a 3 hour class and a meal, but we really enjoyed it, the teacher was great, the class kitchen was professional, clean, and well set up.
