This hotel is a gem. The authentic decor and comfortable surroundings were a true oasis after a day shopping and sight seeing in the sook. The owner Peggy was a great host and very knowledgeable on the culture and history of Morocco. We loved coming home and talking to her about what we saw and experienced during the day and having her put all of it in the proper context. Her staff was great too especially Hamidoo (sp?) He was so awesome , we wanted to take him home with us. I recommend staying with Peggy and enjoying the great riad experience she has so painstaking put together for the adventurous traveler. We are definitely going back!

Marrakech itself is unique but when we arrived at the Raid Amirat Al Jamal we were truly suprised, entering the raid was like a trip to the past. The room/suite was beautifully decorated with items that were made by local craftsman. Peggy, our host and "Said"who catered to our every need were especially appreciated. The breakfast by the pool was presented every morning with different color settings it was great, as was breakfastt. When we ventured out Peggy made sure that we had everything ,from taking us on personal tours thur the city to our trip to the mountains. There are not enough words to describe all the wonderful things about Peggy and her staff and the Raidyou just have to see it to understand all the time and effort that Peggy has devoted to the Raid by incorporating the historic tradition of the country into the Raid. Peggy has lived in Marrakech for five years, speaks the language and seems to know everyone and all the really great places to see and dine. Our thanks to Peggy ,"Said" and staff for a great vacation .We will definitely be planning a return trip to The Riad Amirat Al Jamal.

Went to Marrakech for 3 days over Easter in April 2010 and couldn't get our "top" picks because of late planning due to the holiday. We booked the Amirat Al Jamal and couldn't have been happier. Peggy, the owner, was extremely hospitable, friendly, and we were so happy with our 3 days there. I can't say enough about her and the place. The location in the medina was close to everything, the decor was very moroccan and looked fantastic, and our room on the top floor was amazing with private balcony and views. We had wine on the shared rooftop which was gorgeous and also had great views. She was very helpful with suggestions and got us into restaurants last minute. The place was just decorated so nicely, I would definitely go back and stay here.

I went with my dad to Egypt and Morocco. We stayed at this riad 3 nights in March 2010. We loved it! I especially enjoyed relaxing on the rooftop terrace with my dad at the end of the day. Hamidou and Peggy were really, really nice, and took care of all of our needs.

My 15-year-old son and I stayed several nights in March during a 2-week trip through Morocco and Egypt. We had a spectacular time with Peggy, the very sociable owner, and Hamidou, her incredibly gracious and kind assistant. This is a beautiful riad that has been lovingly restored to perfection and luxury. Peggy and Hamidou gave incredibly personalized service and wonderful attention to our needs. The location is fabulous, just off the main square, but completely quiet, as it is tucked back in a residential area. The breakfasts included were delicious, served by Hamidou, including the best fresh-squeezed orange juice we've ever had (and safe to drink, given Peggy and Hamidou's incredible standards of preparation and hygiene). The gorgeous rooftop terraces (3, including a private one off our room) were spectacular for late-afternoon relaxing with a book and glass of wine, watching the activity below, and listening to the call to prayer. The interior decorating and restoration of this riad were truly phenomenal and authentic. Peggy even took us over to some of the antique shops to meet some of the people with whom she had worked during the restoration. There is nothing that Peggy and Hamidou would not do for us! They would make sure we went to the best restaurants, help us walk there, negotiate taxi rides to and from the train station, other towns etc. This was a highly enjoyable and special stay, and I cannot recommend this riad, along with Peggy and Hamidou, highly enough!

We had a truly wonderful experience at this riad; not only was it gorgeously - and authentically - appointed and in a fantastic location - but more important, Hamidou and the staff took excellent care of us and Peggy, the owner, ensured our every need was met.
A good value for an unforgettable experience.

My husband, two young adult daughters and I stayed here for 3 nights and all of us adored this Riad. It is exquisitely decorated; every room is unique and it is filled with beautiful art, furniture and antiques from all over Morocco. The stunning inner courtyard has a small pool, which is used for swimming. It is in a fabulous location in the Medina and just steps from the world famous square-Djemaa el-Fna. It has a roof top terrace where you have beautiful views of the city, including many minarets! It is run by an American, who has adopted Morocco as her home. She is an amazing resource. Her staff are amazing as well. We had a few meals there, which were excellent and beautifully prepared and served. the service, however, was slow. Other than that, the place is perfection.
