“If you want location, quality, wonderful staff and great food then this is the Riad for you”
Reviewed 11 April 2011

This riad is wonderful and i could reccomend it highly enough. I was given some suggestions of where to stay but found this one on trip advisor and couldnt ignore all the amazing reviews so thought it was worth seeing what everyone is so excited about, and i wasnt dissapointed.
The riad is a fantastic location, s close to the square, but when u are inside its so quiet compared to the noise outside, it is clean, beautifuly decorated and Laurent is a host who clearly loves his job. He is so accomodating and will show u to the square, give u excellant suggestions for restuarants, local advice, especially the local kids trick of 'that road is closed sir'!! Well pointed out as they tried that a lot on us!!
The food there too is fantastic. Def take Laurent up on their home cooked 3 course meal as the food was the best we had over out whole stay in Morocco. Oh and the chocolate pudding with warm strawberries.....yum!
All in all Morocco is a great place to visit...the atlas mountains are great for a hike, the sahara desert is wonderful and the noise and chaos of Marrakesh is great for a change from home!
So, to round up, if u are on trip advisor looking for somewhere to stay, u want location, quality and wonderful staff and great food then its all here in this riad!
Thanks so much Riad Aguerzame :)

This is now our 6th visit to Marrakech and we have stayed in various riads in the Medina. One thing we can say for sure is that up until now, none beat Riad Aguerzame for freindly and attentive staff and value for money. Laurent is the perfect host and nothing is too much trouble.
As this was not our first visit to Marrakech, we decided to take a 'petit taxi' from the airport to the riad (they take maximum 3 persons - over 3, you need to take a 'grand taxi' which costs more). After at least 5 minutes of hard bargaining and 'threatening' to take the local bus (cost 20 dirhams per person - goes to the main square Jemaa el Fna), we managed to agree on a price of 60 dirhams. We thought this was a pretty good deal - until the taxi driver dropped us off at a square a few hundred meters from the riad. Luckily we knew the area and only had hand luggage so it was not a problem, but for first time visitors, we would highly recommend taking the transport organized by the riad so you will be taken to the door without the fear of getting lost down the many surrounding alleyways.
We had a lovely relaxing first eveing at the riad and enjoyed a glass of wine with Laurent in the lounge overlooking the courtyard. Our room with a four-poster bed was on the first floor and decorated in typical Moroccan style which we love. Apart from some noise out in the alleys of children playing and the odd moped during the evening, the riad was amazingly quiet.
The main square is only a ten-minute walk from the riad and, compared to other riads where we have stayed, is relatively easy to find in the dark!
We are already missing the warm temperatures, wonderful hospitality, mint tea and even the souks (bargain hard by the way!) and wondering if we can fit in a return trip in the autumn - inshallah :)

Laurent is a great and gracious host. Location of Hostel is great, just 5 minutes from central square. I would fully reccomend this hostel to anyone. It is only 4 rooms, so is great for small groups, we had 2 of the 4 rooms for most of our stay.

I can't say enough about how fantastic Laurent & his assistants Wafa and Laziza were during our 4 day stay! Laurent welcomed us as though we had known one another for years, gave us fabulous tips about the area and dining choices, it felt like we were at a family member's home. My husband and I would most definately recommend this riad to anyone travelling in Marrakech, and we would certainly stay there again! If you have the opportunity, do eat dinner at the riad, as it was the best we had on our stay. Thank-you for a memorable and enjoyable experience Laurent, we had a great time!

The walk to the main square was simple and easy to navigate and is about 800m from the riad, in a safe area by the Palace (Moulay Idriss), which is constantly guarded by police. Laurent was so kind as to take us on the walk from the riad to the square on the first day and showed us the souks and other items of interest.

I had the pleasure of spending 2 nights here last week. Laurent was a wonderful host and like other reviews have said, you feel more like a guest in his home rather than staying at a hotel. We had a nice dinner at the riad which was one of the better meals while in Marrakech. The riad is in a good location that is within close walking distance to the major sites. I will stay here again next time I am going to Marrakech and would recommend to friends.

I have just returned from a 4 night stay at Riad Aguerzame with my family. I chose it due to the reviews on TripAdvisor & I can only say that the previous reviews were absolutely spot on. It was just so lovely! The rooms & the riad in general had a real authentic yet homely feel. Laurent welcomed us & then did a little presentation about marrakech- what to do/how to get around etc, & then he took us to the square & showed us how to get back to the riad- and we didn't get lost! Laurent also organised a day trip to the Atlas mountains, our guide was a lady called Latifa who was amazing! We had a real authentic experience of the local morrocan people/food/culture -which was brilliant. We also had dinner at the riad one night which was probably the best food we had there. All in all, i would definitely stay here again & recommend to others.

We spent a wonderful week at Riad Aguerzame over Christmas - Laurent welcomed us into his house and made us feel perfectly at home. Fantastic food, attentive and friendly but respectful service and a generally convivial atmosphere meant that we were equally happy lounging around on the roof terrace as exploring Marrakech, guided by Laurent's local knowledge - the riad was always a welcome escape from the hectic souk and the busy Place. Laurent also arranged for us to visit the Atlas Mountains, which was an experience we will remember for a very long time (for all the right reasons!) and was one of the highlights of our trip to Morocco. If you are looking for comfort, convenience and a friendly and welcoming ambience, Riad Aguerzame is the place for you!
