“Excellent service, charming riad”
Reviewed 15 April 2012 via mobile

I absolutely adored the fact that you can hear birds in the morning and have a great terrace to enjoy the morning breakfast. Our room Hamam was super romantic. The walk to the square was about 10min but it is better in my opinion to be a bit far from the main chaos of the main square. We walked from the riad to majorelle garden also. Be aware the mosque call will wake you up super early but this will happen in any riad as there are so many mosques in the medina. The staff is super polite and friendly. I would totally recommend anyone to stay here.

A really nice place, we were made to feel very welcome on arrival. The location of this riad is fantastic, only 10 minutes walk to the square which is far enough out to get a little peace after the hectic time spent in the souks. The staff are very relaxed and easy going, you can eat your breakfast on the fantastic roof terrace, which was probably one of the best features of the riad, although we found ourselves fighting off a few bees each morning, it's like they knew we were coming. They are non aggressive but a bit annoying, we developed a nifty technique of quickly pouring our honey then wafting the now honey-soaked pouring jar near to one of the bees until they sensed it and flew on to the jar, it's little friends would follow and we could eat in peace. Breakfasts were the best of the entire trip and we stayed in 4 different places all over Morocco, very generous and with a good variety changing every day. We found Marrakech itself a little bit much, we stayed 4 days and frankly could've done it in 2, we would have certainly left less stressed and with better faith in mankind if we had, I have to say being in the riad provided us with a lovely bolthole to get away from it and the staff that work there are really calming and thoughtful. When it all got a bit much (and I wasn't expecting Marrakech to be quite as mad as it was, I'd been 10 years previously and not found it half as mad) the riad was the perfect getaway, we'd head up to the roof, relax on the suspended chairs and enjoy great views. Our room was really nice, the Hammam suite, it has a really nice 4 poster bed and a radio with an i-pod dock, really cool an quite private being on the first floor. It was very quiet when we got there with only 1 other couple so they offered us an upgrade to a bigger suite but I already had my heart set on Hammam suite so was quite happy for us to stay there, might have been a bit more fun in the Yassine suite, it did look nice and certainly was larger. Anyway it was all in all a really nice stay, my only complaint might be that after that other couple left we were the only ones left and it felt a little bit like we didn't warrant the usual standard of treatment, the ambient music that was playing on arrival disappeared and the lights in the communal spaces seemed to go off a lot sooner, this could all be conjecture, as I said, on the whole it was a really nice stay, the best elements being the rooftop and its views, generous breakfast and really beautifully stylish rooms.

Room Tip: Hammam suite is a really nice room, lovely plush colours and a four poster bed, bit smaller than som...

Raid Mur Akush was the perfect home away from home for us. First time staying in a Riad, the experience with Riad Mur Akush definitely will stay with us forever. We stayed there for honeymoon, and all the staff were courteous, nice, very helpful and accommodative, specially with unpredictable time of our breakfast. Yossef, Rasyid, and Zohra were wonderful. I hope we can visit again in other times when we are Marrakech.

Room Tip: Every room has its on decoration n personalities. So u can ask for any room and you will be happy an...

Our second stay at the Riad Mur Akush didn`t disappoint.

Maria (the owner) was very helpful when booking and arranged the taxi transfers in advance and for a meal on arrival.

The bedrooms are beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean.

Breakfast was at a time to suit us - we ate about 0745 on the roof terrace in gorgeous sunshine.

I cannot wait until Feb 2013 and my next visit to Marrakech when I`ll be stopping at the Riad Mur Akush again.

A big thanks to Maria and the staff, it was fab!

We had a fantastic week in Riad Mur Akush. It was a real 1001 nights athmosphere. They were very helpfull. They collected us at the airport and a traditional Maroccan dinner was served when we arrived. The Riad was well situated in the old city, close to the very center, but still away from the noise. There was a nice terrace on the roof with a beatifull view over the city, and the Atlas mountains.
We can highly reccomend Riad Mur Akush.

This Riad was lovely and central. The first two nights we were in an amazing room at the top of the Riad - I would recommend requesting this room. The walls were a gorgeous turquoise, the queen size bed was made of ornately carved wood, there was a sitting room and a huge bathroom.

The last couple of nights we moved downstairs on the bottom floor (due to us extending our stay) and the room was dark and no where near as nice as the first one.

The staff were the highlight of our stay along with the food which was loving prepared and tasted delicious.

A warning about the Souks - you will get ripped off, be prepared!!!

I highly recommend Riad Mur Akush. Great value, clean rooms, central location. The only thing that could make it any better would be a pool!

Room Tip: Choose the room at the top with the Queen bed and sitting room - it is simply divine!
