We found out about this hidden gem in a local shop where the owner lives. The website and leaflet looked too good to be true - but the actual experience was even better! We were met with such kindness and the most thorough and thoughtful staff. Mohammed, Hassan and team are amazing. Nothing was too much bother for them and we were made to feel so at home. The Riad is perfectly situated and was perfect for our family and allowed us to walk to the main sites daily. The Suite Amel was stunning and thoughtfully decorated. Both my 5 year old and my teenager loved their stay, especially the magnificent breakfast and a superb dinner on the roof terrace. We will definitely return.

We arrived early but Mohammed greeted us with sweet mint tea servedwith delicious dates and almonds. He was happy to arrange a hamam and massage experience for us both. We were upgraded to the Amiel Suite with a comfortable four poster bed decorated with rose petals. We loved the tadelakt bathroom. We were sitting on the roof terrace when we heard the dusk call to prayer which started at Koutoubia and echoed around all the mosques including Bab Doukala but it was not intrusive after that. We had a generous breakfast on the terrace. Mohammed, Hassan, Zohra and Abdul were always cheerful and happy to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We were impressed with the friendly efficiency of Maria when we made our online booking.

I stayed at The Riad Mur Akush for 4 nights recently (25.03 - 30.03) with 2 girlfriends to celebrate a big birthday . We loved this Riad! Mohammed and Hassan who ran the Riad were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. The Riad was beautifully furnished .. very tasteful in Morroccan stye and each of the 5 bedrooms individually decorated. There was lots of additional space too. The roof terrace with it's views of the Atlas mountains was fab in the sunshine ...not so good in the heavy rain that we had on 3 of the 4 days we were there! But there were 2 gorgeous sitting rooms to lounge about in when it was wet. We can also recommenda meal in cooked by the Riad staff..The staff made the courtyard table very pretty with candles and rosepetals and we thought it looked very romantic. I want to persuade my husband to go now!

We contacted the Riad from their website and had great communication from the owner, booking 7 nights in March. We were welcomed with lovely mint tea (the first of many pots!) by the attentive and friendly Hassan who and showed us around and gave us an unbiased overview of the key sights, attractions before we began exploring for ourselves. Even though we like to think we're well prepared and clued up (my 'Rough Guide' never leaves my side!) Hassan proved to be incredibly useful for our holiday. He helped us translate, gave us phrases, made bookings for us and even helped us when it came to purchasing our souvenirs! Even when we organised our own trips he helped check our travel plans. I've never thought much of concierges in hotels but the staff make you feel like you're guests in their home - much more intimate and personal than a sterile hotel.

It's a great location and really easy to navigate - literally a 10min straight road walk to the main square - rather than getting lost in the maze of souks. We stayed in the Salam room on the first floor - very comfortable, beautifully decorated and cleaned daily. The freshly made breakfasts on the terrace were magnificent and set you up for the day.

Our top tips: A day trip to Essaouira is a MUST! Try Pastilla (pigeon pastry) and Tanjia (jugged lamb - speciality in Marrakesh). Bring earplugs! Regardless where you stay, there are dozens of mosques all over the Medina and city (there's no point trying to avoid one) and will have early morning prayer calls, which are easily remedied if you're a light sleeper. Be prepared to leave Morocco with an addition to Mint Tea!

just got back from a 3 night stay at the riad. I would fully recommend it to anyone wanting a beautiful, peaceful and friendly place to stay (would be good for couples, families or a group wanting to rent the whole place). We stayed in suite amel which was very luxurious and comfortable. The whole riad has been renovated with loving care and attention to detail, from the beautiful cotton bed linen to the numerous moroccon lamps and ornaments decorating the rooms and terraces. One of the main outstanding points was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and owners. They made sure we had everything we wanted , when we wanted it and always had a warm friendly smile to make us feel welcome. Most of the staff speak excellent english so can provide advice, directions etc when you need it. We were even given an escort to a restaurant one night as the owner had recommended a place and didn't want us to get lost on the way! We had great breakfasts served sitting in the warm sun on the roof terrace every morning and lovely mint tea and pastries offered to us when we arrived back after long days sightseeing. The location is ideal - easy to find, 10 mins walk from the centre through an area which is full of colourful daily life.

You might think you're in Mexico when you visit here. The economy feels similar and even some of the landscape on the western plain was similar to the southwest US. We had many new foods and scents introduced to us. the staff and facility at the Riad Mur Akush were first class. The location of the Riad was really great, with only a few minute walk to the Koutoubia mosque and Jemaa al Fna square. The staff was VERY welcoming and friendly!

This was our first trip to Marrakech and indeed Morocco, and Riad Mur Akush was our first stop off. We were there three days and really enjoyed it. Mohammed, Hassan and Abdul were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was Suite Amel, which was gorgeous and the location was very convenient to see the sights of Marrakech.
One of the things which really impressed me before we arrived was the friendly and welcoming string of emails I exchanged with Maria and Mohammed - this level of personal service contrasts dramatically to what one would get in a large hotel.
