“Lovely Riad for a family stay.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2012

We stayed for 3 nights in this beautiful riad which was as good as the reviews suggested. We were recommended the Mergouza suite, in the recently updated part and were very pleased with it. We were really well looked after by the charming staff and felt very relaxed. The breakfasts were excellent and we enjoyed the terrace in the evenings. We would absolutely recommend both this riad and Meknes itself.

We spent last night up at -- by the ruins at Volubilis and he recommended Riad Safir. In fact he went so far as to call ahead and book us a room. We only had to walk in the door to know there was no need to look elsewhere. We parked the Land Rover only a few hundred metres away on Place Lalla Aouda. The rooms are large and comfortable. The Riad is in two halves, one more traditional and the other more modern. We stayed in the modern section. The owners are French but lived in Morocco for some years. They were delighted to share their knowledge of and passion for the country. It's right in the heart of the medina so exploring starts at the front door. They booked us dinner at a nearby family restaurant and had the owner walk us around to it so we didn't get lost. It's perfect.

Riad Safir could well be the best of the town of Meekness. It is very well located and allows you to deep into the very hart of the life of this busy place.
The host are very kind and will help you to identify the best places to visit depending on your wishes. The meals are prepared with love and in respect of the local traditions. It is the kind of place where you want to go back even if there are so many things to see in the world.

Just got back from the Riad Safir and I wanted to say the same as the other reviewers - if you want a good place to stay - this is it. Having breakfast on the terrace at the Riad Safir was one of the highlights of our stay in Morocco, or reading a book up there while the sun went down over the city.
Our room and the whole riad were beautifully decorated and very clean. Doudou and Nora were really helpful and friendly and looked after us really well. Chantal - the owner - was incredibly helpful from the moment we first contacted her about the room, all the way through to the very end of our stay.
On the last day, we found ourselves on an express train which did not stop at Meknes petit gare, heading instead non-stop to Kentira and Rabat. Luckily I was able to call Chantal on the train and she arranged for our luggage to be sent from the Riad to the airport while we drove all the way back in a grand taxi, just in time to board the plane at Fes. She was there when I really needed her help.
The Riad is nice and quiet - it's tucked away down a little alley. If you turn left at the end, you can go straight up into the souk, or turn right you can be in the Place Hedim in a couple of minutes.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Safron room which was lovely, but I'm sure all the rooms are good. The whole ri...

We spent three nights in this beautifully decorated riad. The hotel actually consists of two interconnecting riads decorated in two different styles (old and new). Our suite, Merzouga, was full of interesting artefacts and a very peaceful place to stay. The main thing however was the two Moroccan ladies who staffed the place. They really could not do enough to help us and went above and beyond the call of duty on every occasion. We had a fantastic time here and would not hesistate to recommend it.

The riad is also well located in the medina, easy to find and close to the things you might want to see yet tucked away down a quiet side street.

Doudou and Nora take great care of all your needs while staying at this Riad. Rooms are nice and clean, maybe just a little cold in the winter but a radiator does the job and the warmth of the staff and rheur good aenae of humour make you feel at home. The staff is extremely helpful - if I'll go back I'll stay there again.

Lovely experience. The owners were away but the staff were very efficient, warm and happy. Two houses restored in quite different styles with a connecting passage upstairs. We stayed in the traditional side which was very pretty. Bathrooms are curtained rather than door. Independent heating/ac which was great. Clean and confortable. Plumbing worked. Open areas are spacious and great to relax in. Roof terrace is large and fun. Dinner was simple but good and good value. No alcohol. We only stayed a night so could not compare to alternatives. The three ladies who looked after us could not have been nicer. When they realized my wife is vegetarian they offered go out and buy some eggs. The Riad was full but did not feel crowded or noisy. Made us want to come back and spend more time in Meknes

Room Tip: We stayed in Saffron. Lovely, orange. We wanted to try the newer house for a different style. Pee...
