“What an amazing Riad !”
Reviewed 22 February 2014

Our stay here was excellent. Riad El Maati was an oasis of calm in the middle of the hustle & bustle of the Medina. The staff were very helpful and the food was amazing. (I'm now getting complaints from my teenage son that breakfast at home isn't up to standard). We stayed 4 nights and ate at the hotel each evening because it was just so nice. Decoration and style were spot on and the owners were friendly. I'd agree with the comment someone made about having someone guide you to the Riad from the Bab Chellah gate the first time you arrive.

Room Tip: Suites are on the ground floor. The adults sleeping platform is up some stairs and younger children...

This riad is aesthetically lovely and could be excellent. Rooms are very attractive and the welcome cookies were hands down the best in Morocco. However, the on site manager is not --far from, actually -- customer service oriented. He refused to honor the room reservations made many months earlier and insisted that we stay in a room that had stairs up to the sleeping area which we had specifically not reserved due to mobility issues. Then, we were informed that the heat would be turned on at 6PM. We waited uncomfortably in our room for 2 1/2 hours before asking about the heat only to be told, "you did not ask". Also, there was no hot water in the room. When we questioned this, we were told "you should have asked". At breakfast, staff inquired if the two of us wanted to wait for the third member of our party. Despite the fact we said yes, our food was brought immediately, well before our party was complete. So, Riad el Maati is a visually lovely riad with the worst customer service we encountered in Morocco.

A group of 10 friends stayed in Rabat from 28 October to 3 November. It was a wonderful trip, thanks in large part to our stay in Hotel Riad. Excellent in all aspects: the rooms, the breakfast on the terrace, the friendly staff, etc.. thank you very much¡¡

The location is good (in the medina but close to the gates) & easy to find. Rooms are very clean. I wouldn’t say the hotel is so beautiful in reality as it depicted, but it has stylish decoration & design furniture. There are several drawbacks to mention: very dim lightning, audibility, switched off heating though there are several heaters in the room and it was cold enough to turn them on. Breakfast is ok.

Thank you for your consideration ... for the rooms of the Patio we indicate customers to tell us if it would like that turns on the heating , because it is a centralized heat. The rooms on the first floor are equipped with electric heating.
Thank you for your information.

After reading the reviews, we expected a better experience than we got. It is certainly calm and authentic looking. But in our four days and three nights, we only caught a glimpse of the owners once. This was in stark contrast to the other Riads in Morooco where we felt the owners were hands-on and involved. Abdel is an employee there and very diligent and helpful. The staff is hardworking and sweet. The "balcony" in the rooms is a landing barely big enough for one person to stand on. The rooms have no sense of privacy. After comparing it to our other Morocco stays, we found it hard to believe this is rated number one.

It is gorgeous !!! You feel in a small palace. It has an internal garden, high walls and doors and rooms are spacious and sumptuous. I stayed in 6 different around Morocco and it was my favorite, you can relax in the patio and enjoy the night with a cup of tea or a beer. It has elevator for people that can go up the 4 floors. Has a nice dinning room and good breakfast . It has a great value, nice location in the Medina with easy and safe access. The only "but" if there is one ,that Rabat's Medina is not as impressive and full of nice restaurants as Marrakech's Medina. So it's not a "must" to stay in the Medina since There are other nicer areas in Rabat. Without a doubt for those who want to explore and like the Medina Maati Riad is a great choice!!
