Also known as the "Popular Restaurant" whose real name remains a mystery. It's simple, it's not the best restaurant in Tangier, Rabat is the capital, it happened to me to travel 350 kilometers to come and dine. The menu is fixed, the portions are calculated according to the number of people at the table (one person, small grilled fish, 6 people = mega grilled fish). Almonds and eggplant caviar as an appetizer are to die for, but especially the "barley soup with tentacles", but what about the shark tagine with spinach, and St Pierre cooked over a wood fire. And all cooked to perfection in terracotta pots and coal. The portions are large, but the digestion is fast. No alcohol, but fruit juice mystery based plums served at will. For dessert, seasonal fruit on top of their form: figs or melon, with honey and almond of argan.

A unique restaurant, small, with large communal tables, so get ready to meet your neighbors. No menu, just lots of fresh seafood dishes that keep appearing. There were three or four courses (I can't remember). I am not a seafood lover, but I enjoyed the food here. It was simple, but very good. The service is loud, brash and comical. The utensils are, well, utilitarian. No fancy tablecloths here. Not cheap, but a fun experience to do at least once.

I'm still salivating. This delightful old world experience is a must and a great value. As many have reviewed... a total experience that simply stimulates all your senses. Casual and great fun as well. Be prepared for a possible wait in line. Trust me, it's worth it.

Let me just say that on the positive side the food was fresh. Apart from that there is little to commend them on. The food is certainly invented as has no relation to Morocco whatsoever. For €20.00, expensive by Tangier prices, you do not get to choose anything. Instead, you are given breakfast bread, a plate of spicy Harissa, some olives and a bowl of mixed nuts (what?). You get a choice of 1 drink only, nice and natural but again no choice. Then you are offered the main dishes which are made of cheap seafood and fish with lots of herbs that helped fill the plate. The quantity was little which by now explains the choice of filling the table with bread, nuts and the thick juice. There were only two Moroccans when we were there but they were from the capital. The atmosphere was dead and quiet and my children seemed to annoy the stuck-up tourists who did not have a clue that the meals were unauthentic. I asked for coffee but it seems they had not bother investing in a coffee machine. Off we went in search of coffee.

Food, service, and atmosphere were all fabulous. The food did not stop coming so be sure to arrive hungry. Bring cash. Food is wonderful but not cheap. I'm going back tomorrow.
