“Beachfront hotel convenient for ferry crossings”
Reviewed 4 January 2013 via mobile

Nice hotel with a good sized twin room and bathroom overlooking the beach. We needed to leave early the next morning for the ferry to Spain so the staff arranged to bring an assortmemt of breakfast goodies to our room. The Winston Churchill Bar had impressive decor and was a great spot to relax. Unfortunately we had a bad experience with some corked white wine which was handled poorly by the hotel management, otherwise this would have been a pleasant stay.

This place saved us after Hotel Continental lost our reservation. The lounge areas are beautiful and there's a nice little pool with a bar just inside. Everytime I think back about this hotel it just reminds me of some old las vegas hotel from the 70s. It's just got that vibe to it. You feel like there should be old guys in robes sitting around the pool with HUGE sunglasses and cigars.

But there really weren't a lot of people at this hotel at all. If you're looking for a fun, upbeat hotel with lots of action, this isn't it (and neither is Tangier btw). But if you're looking for someplace to lay low for a day or two in the middle of a trip, then it works just fine. There's a few good restaurants across the street, but the nightlife in Tangier just isn't happening. My girlfriend and I walked around all day and kept saying "where are the women???" I know, I know...that's a cultural thing, but it's still strange.

This hotel is very nice inside with a great pool and bar area, but the reception staff are awful! The lady on the front desk could find no record of our booking and was extremely rude to us. She kept saying we would just have to pay even though we had pre-paid and had no intention of helping us. Not what I was expecting at all for a so say 4-star hotel. After sorting the whole situation out myself, they finally let us into our room with no apology at all, where we found that our room was at the front of the hotel, which is on a very busy road and quite noisy at times. The food in the restaurant was tasty, although over-priced and the waiting staff were also not particularly helpful. All in all a disappointment.

Room Tip: Stay at the back of the hotel to avoid the noise from the busy road.

This **** hôtel combined unhelpful staff with incomprehensible accents. The food was cold, when it should have been hot and vice versa. The room and pillows smelt of smoke and the spa was not available. The works on the new port are in front of the hotel and there is a noisy nightclub rattling through the dark until 3am. The parking facilities claimed are private and adjacent to the hôtel.
Having stayed in 4 other Tangier hôtels and numerous Moroccan hôtels I can have no bad conscience in strongly recommending that the Rif spa be used only by the uprepared.

Room Tip: try another hôtel

A grand hotel, where the public areas are visually very attractive. Room service was good, the restaurant ok.
Our stay was spoiled by the front desk. We booked in before our tour, and did not get off to a good start, as they had no record of our booking. This continued when on the second morning when we received a call to say we had to check out. After 1/2 an hour this was resolved.
Our tour guide was to contact us via the hotel, and when he arrived he was told by front desk that we were not staying here (when we enquired if there were any messages for us we were told no!) This meant we missed the first morning of the tour. Whilst I appreciate that my high school French language skills may have contributed to the confusion, front desk nowhere near good enough considering the four star rating.

Better then some 5 marrocan stars hotels. However the rooms should have a better windows to cancel the noize of the street. Exept from that the hotel is good to rest and relax for 2 nights.

They didn't have our reservation booked through Expedia and instead of getting us another room, they had us wait an hour in the lobby. Finally we left and found another hotel. And since they charged Expedia even though we didn't stay there, we couldn't get a refund! The WORST customer service we had in Morocco!
