The guesthouse is nicely decorated and perfectly situated. The price was on the high side by Moroccan standard but in general we got what we paid for, especially for the room at the very top which has a private terrace (that is to say if you have much time to spend in your room), even though the shower in the room was quite tiny, and the shower in my friend's room (Room Mahabata) sometimes got bad smell probably from poor or dated drainage system.

There was, however, some room for improvement.

The staff have been quite pushy in offering a guide to the kasbah which we didn't need. When we rejected the offer, they offered a "student" guide AGAIN. Quite annoying.

The air-conditioner in our room was not connected to the power and we found out that it was only meant as a decoration. We didn't need it at night eventually as the weather tended to get windy but at the moment we checked in, we were steaming hot and would like to cool down quickly. At first we thought the remote control was out of battery, so we requested for new batteries. I think they should have the decency and honesty to admit the fact that we weren't supposed to use the air-con in the room.

The maids were not very meticulous either. One day we were short of towels, and the other day the small bottle of water.

After I returned, I re-read some reviews and noticed that free tea service was available. As we weren't notified, we didn't have a chance to enjoy this service for our 3 nights' stay.

And lastly, on our last day, we arranged for car transfer at 8:30am with the guesthouse. We weren't told that breakfast would not be ready by 8am. So when I got down to call for breakfast after 7am, there was nobody but the guard. Breakfast was one thing, the other was that we needed to check out and pay, and nobody was there. Luckily, the guard phoned somebody and so we could still managed to settle all things and have a brief breakfast.

Room Tip: Room Charf if you want the private terrace and don't mind a bit of walk-up. The other ones on l...

What can I say?
We booked at Dar Sultan at the last moment after our reservation at airbnb was cancelled without any reason.
The place is absolutely delightful. It's cleaner than clean, it's quiet and it's in the heart of the Kasbah.
The people who work there can't do enough for you! They're so sweet and helpful.
Breakfast is very nice.
Hot drinks as well as soft drinks are free all day long. You just have to ask.
The owner, Maité is the most generous host ever. After staying five days there, she paid for our transfer to the airport.
We'd been to morocco before, but this time, our stay at Dar Sultan was the highlight of our stay.
Thank you to everyone.
Kadhem & Najat.

Dar Sultan is an ideal place to stay, located in the peaceful, quiet Kasbah. Each of the six rooms is decorated differently from the others, all uniquely Moroccan with colorful textiles and antiques. They are simply gorgeous. The rooftop patios are a treat to lounge on and enjoy the city views. Don't miss the incredible breakfast and if at all possible, book a dinner as well. The staff is great too. They will help with guides if you want one (Karim was a good match for us) and will leave you alone if you don't. Enough English is spoken that communication wasn't difficult. Our staff was also fluent in French and German. In a town that can be overwhelming, Dar Sultan is a perfect oasis. Stay there if you can.

After taking a great tour of Tangier,we were anxious to get to our hotel. We didn't know what to expect but VOILE!There was this tranquil oasis amidst a hectic winding town.We were greeted ever so graciously by Hassan and Nadia.Helped us with our bags and set us up in front of our beautiful room serving olives, nuts and wine! They remained pleasant and hospitable while we were butchering the french language. So we communicated in any way we could. They really put forth the effort to make us welcome and comfortable.Hassan even walked us to our restaurant .In the morning we were served a beautiful breakfast by Nadia in the enticing main room. The best views were the upstairs terraces.Breathtaking...the sea and city. There are slendid rooms adjacent to these terraces.Lots of atmosphere, service(even the nightwatchman was great)This place is a must when in Tangier!

Room Tip: The rooms are all beautiful.I would recommend the rooms with the terraces. The views and ambiance are...

First things first: this place easily takes the prize for the best breakfast we had in Morocco. The rooms are on the small side but sufficient. Bathrooms are OK and very clean. If you can take the "suite" on the very top floor, views are excellent (unfortunately it was booked when we were there). On the negative side I have to say, it was noisy in the alleys around at night. Management seems to work on this, though.
