Really there is nothing special to expect here but the rooms are clean low priced amd
Towels and toiletpaper are provided. Only diaadvamtage is that i had no met but the room is properly closed of didnt see 1 mosquito and there is a fan right above the bed makin it very difficult for mosquito's to sting. Also i left my phone in a taxi and the hotel personel even managed to arrange that the taxi driver brought it bak at 1 o'clock in the night! That's what I call exelent service!!!!

My girlfriend and I stayed at Econolodge for a week and a few days. The staff was very friendly and nice, most of them speak English and are very willing to help you. It's a safe hotel, there is security all through the night. The rooms are big, though some rooms are better than other, all the rooms are clean.
They have breakfast, although it's not the best we had in Tanzania it includes fruit, coffee/tea and bread and makes a fine start of the day. We had a very good stay at the hotel and the afternoon before we left the owner/manager gave us two presents out of the blue, very cute!
Also there are a lot of nice dining places just around the corner.
It's a very good place for backpackers and other travelers looking for a safe budget hotel in the centre of Dar es Salaam. We would definitely recommend it.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Econo Lodge while we were in Dar Es Salaam for a day. It is a budget hotel (~$25-$30 for two twin beds with AC), so you get what you pay for. We had two twin beds which had one sheet covering the mattress and one thin sheet to sleep with. The shower was hot and the air conditioning worked fine (except when the power went out for 1 hour and the hotel was running its generator). There is no internet access.

As I said above, you get what you pay for. If you want a bed to sleep in and a hot shower, this is a great deal. If you're looking for luxury, look somewhere else.

We stayed at this hotel twice, once before our visit to Zanzibar and once afterwards (both times only one night). The location is good - in the town centre, relatively safe feel to it and around 15 minutes walk to the ferry terminal. Both the exterior and interior of the hotel are pretty drab, but the room was clean and very cheap. Breakfast was OK, nothing special but not terrible. There are a couple of good, local restaurants nearby for dinner (Mamboz BBQ was our favourite). All in all, a good budget option if you're just passing through Dar es Salaam although there is no wifi/internet access.

The Econo Lodge in Dar es Salaam is a great budget choice in the city centre. It's just off Libya street, with a sign clearly posted leading down a short path to the hotel. The post office and Morogoro street are right around the corner, and you can grab a taxi or dalla dalla easily from right outside the hotel.

The hotel is clearly old, but has been well-maintained well and is scrupulously clean, with all the basics covered, including ample hot water in the showers and good water pressure - hooray! I asked for a room with A/C and was upgraded to a double room at no extra charge, so I can't speak to the size of the singles, but the beds were comfortable, the A/C worked wonderfully and the room was plain, but furnished with everything I could need, including a desk and a wardrobe. The hotel staff were lovely - very friendly and helpful with recommendations, and always remembered my room number after my initial check-in. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

The Econo Lodge was by far the best value I experienced in Tanzania. We had a triple room for the 3 guys traveling to Dar and Zanzibar together. The 5th floor room we had the first stay was extremely clean. The fourth floor room on our return to Dar lacked a little in the cleanliness of the bathroom, but was overall very pleasant. The rooms were extremely spacious and had a locking balcony. The staff was friendly and on duty aroun the clock, making us feel very safe. I wish the beds had two sheets on them instea of just a bottom sheet and a blanket, but for 50,000 shillings split 3 ways, this felt like luxury. The shower was decent and had hot water. There is a locking wardrobe for your things, and the front desk has a safe for valuables. It is very conveniently located walking distance from the ferry in a pretty decent part of town near the mosques. Good food is right around the corner from many different places. BBQ, schwarma, tea rooms, and even a few bars (the Florida bar is a must visit) and a casino a little further down. It all seemed a little sketchy at first, as it sits downa narrow, I'll repaired alley, but I didn't find any problems. The included breakfast was good. Not exceptional as food in Dar tends to be, but good. Overall, for traveling with friends on a budget, this can't be beat.

I have used this hotel many times now and will continue to do so on my visits to dar, last visit was June 2012 - For the price of approx £20 per night for a double room you cannot complain - Room / Ensuite / Balcony / Aircon / Reception manned 24hrs

This is a budget hotel so do not expect 5* - If you want 5* you will need to go elsewhere and pay for it - Approx £150 per night in dar
