“Tied for best fresh seafood in 4 decades of cooking & eating”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

We are not food snobs, but the neighborhood standards are pretty high in Berkeley CA 's "gourmet ghetto." The daily-bought fish from the open air beach-side market easily equals our best. shrimp, kingfish--taste of the sea. Cooking oil changed out early. And, all this in a cheerful atmosphere in their new branch in the Kinondoni neighborhood, for about the tip on the bill at Chez Pannise. Find it by locating the Canadian consulate. Best Arusha coffee, if you like it strong.

“I love it!”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

So I dine quite a lot in Dar es salaam. Honestly, if you are looking for a place to have lunch with friends or utilize free wi-fi...yes! This is offered by Raha spot, well you should definitely make your way down there.

It is located at the Oyster bay shopping centre and getting there shouldn't be a problem (but currently, they are renovating around the place so they are always signs or a diversion at the parking lot area). However, the service offered here is great. The waiters are friendly, sharp and speak good english. I actually left one of the waiters with my laptop and iPad to fetch something in the car and she looked after it without a problem.

Anyways, the food here is fantastic. I absolutely enjoy it. Their carrot cake is to die for! I think I'm having 3 pieces a week on average. They have quite a variety of cakes.. I haven't tried them all yet. Their wraps are also great- very delicious! specifically one with mango. A must try on the menu is their crumbed chicken burger (if you are hungry, have this!! It's honestly so filling).
The iced coffee well the more accurate description would be espresso milkshake is heavenly.
(Written as "Espresso milkshake" on the menu). Plus it's one of the few places that make it properly in Dar.

What I really love about this place is the ambiance and the location is fantastic. Plus, the food is not that expensive. You could get a light meal and a drink for around Tsh 20,000-25,000 which isn't bad at all. There are always people and the peak hours are during lunch time. You get all sorts of people around here. Business people on a break or having a meeting, family, friends having lunch or people on their own enjoying good food and wi-fi. They are also quite a lot of expats that dine here.

The only part I don't like is the fact that it closes at 6pm. I rate it should stay running until 10pm.
You have to try this place when you are in Dar.

“Nice Outdoor Bistro-style Eatery”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

The Black Tomato is actually in the Oyster Bay shopping centre, having moved from its old location. It's a pleasant place for a light meal or a snack, though the wine is over-priced even for Dar. The wrap I had was fresh and tasty with well cooked chips and a nice side salad. My black iced coffee was very good.
The staff are pleasant and friendly.
A good place for a light meal, snack or just a drink in a shady courtyard

“EXCELLENT EATERY”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

The owner, Sandra is very hospitable and genuinely caring.

Its my favorite Saturday spot for lunch.

Their quiche of the day and the chocolate caramel cake is absolutely amazing.

And so is the sandwich selection.

A must visit in Dar.
