Staff were all very courteous and accommodating, though our request to change suites to ones with two twin/double beds instead of one queen/king was pushed aside three times and was ultimately never addressed. Airport and ferry pickups are easy; airport transportation is inexpensive at $20 and ferry pickup is free. Relatively clean and in average area of the city - walking around after dark, streets were empty, and there is always security on the ground floor. Room faced a mosque across the street and thus morning prayer was very loud. Living room was much smaller than expected after seeing online pictures and view from lower floor balconies was unimpressive (faced a trashed back alley), but free drinking water every day and modern kitchen appliances were a nice touch. Flat screen TVs in each room; air conditioning remotes did not work, but could turn on/off with wall switch. First towels smelled moldy, but bathrooms were nice, large, and clean. Internet service was very spotty in room and in reception area. If you can't afford upscale like Hilton, this is a decent alternative, but wouldn't want to stay longer than 2 or 3 nights. Overall, solid 2.5-3 star hotel.

Tanzanite executive suits is a decent place to stay. Forget about the 'executive' though, at least as you know it in the western world. The suites are good spacious appartment being the key elements: good service in the frontdesk, very helpful and willing to support, secondly the security, is 24h and you feel safe at night and going in and out, and third factor is cleanliness.
If you expect any in room service, forget about it, bathrooms are small, a bit anchored in the 90's furniture is just average and the entertainment limited.
If you want food, you can order from a nearby restaurant or you can walk, within 10 minutes walk you have choice enough.
I would like to emphasize how helpful front desk is, making it a good choice in terms of value for money and convinience. No luxury or similar.

We stayed here for four nights in total in two different stays. This hotel is a good value for your money. The rooms are nice with everything you need during your stay in dar. The owners ate very good people that will help you with anything you need. There is literally a small army to guard the hotel so safety is never an issue. The hotel is completly covered inside with CCTV for even more safety. The area outside is relatively safe as well as it is located in the Muslim area. The breakfast was really, really good especially the selection of coffee! The Internet was usually slow and the power goes out for a few seconds, otherwise the tanzanite is a great place to stay in dar es salaam at a reasonable price.

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the ferry terminal and stayed for one night following our trip to Zanzibar. The hotel is only 600m from the ferry and is thus within walking distance if you have walk-friendly luggage!

We found that booking hotels in Tanzania and Zanzibar was generally frustrating because most insisted on advance payment in cash (requiring annoying visits to the bank to arrange a bank transfer) and many would not accept a credit card booking. The Tanzanite Executive Suites booking system stood out as being the best and easiest experience of our whole trip. Everything was done online, was quick and easy to complete and my credit card was debited a couple of nights before the check-in date in accordance with the policy stated on the internet at the time of the booking. I don't know why all hotels in Tanzania don't follow the excellent example of Tanzanite Executive Suites.

Check-in was a little hectic because several other guests had arrived at the same time as us. However, we were still given a refreshing welcome drink and the whole process was quite quick, polite and efficient. The hotel was full and we were upgraded to a suite at no extra charge. First time I have ever stayed in a hotel and had a choice of 3 TV's to watch!

The room was comfortable enough, everything worked and all the necessary accessories, towels, etc were provided. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. The hotel provides an excellent breakfast, included in the price, but no other meals so a trip to a nearby hotel or restaurant is required for those.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Nice and clean room but the neighborhood is questionable. I ordered room service and this went well.
The transfer to and from the airport went well, in general the staff was very friendly and helpful.
