“Room with a view”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

During my two week holiday I stayed in Tanzanite Executive Suites on 25-27 Oct., 31 Oct-1 Nov. 3 Nov.-5 Nov. and 7-8 Nov. and I have nothing to complain about. Whole staff made me feel very welcome.

Air condition & a fan kept the room nice and cool. There was good shower with strong water pressure and plenty of hot water (which is not always the case in Tanzania), telly with dozens of channels (HBO! Indian! Chinese! etc.) to choose from.

I liked the fact that there were two bottles of water waiting (which can be put into a fridge - no minibar though as this is a Muslim hotel). There's also a microwave oven in every room if you happen to have a slice of pizza. :)

Room was otherwise very quiet but the call for morning prayer (when the sun rises) is not avoidable - but that's how it was also in the hotel where I stayed in the island of Zanzibar.

Breakfast was okay (especially nice juices), even some variety from day to day. I'd have appreciated more local fruits than individually packed ready-made muffins but just outside the hotel was a guy selling wonderfully ripe mangoes. (Try it with chili powder if you dare.) Some mornings someone in the kitchen kindly made me Belgian waffles while I sipped my tea.

Taxis to and from airport ($20 one way) were in time and when I needed a ride to Zanzibar ferry I was taken there for free. (Well, it's not far but walking with wheeled luggage is not so easy when the local roads are like they are.)

If I ever end up to Dar again I will certainly book a room in Tanzanite Executive Suites.

The Tanzanite Executive Suites is a clean and professional business-class hotel in the non-touristy, central part of Dar Es Salaam. The room was good, the breakfasts was good, and the staff was pleasant. The only complaint I have is that the free WiFi becomes overloaded beginning in the late afternoon and into the night. I could not make a Voip call or send an email at all during those hours. This needs to be addressed.

very basic room. Torn and worn out linens and towels. Toliteries supply very few. Breakfast room not well equipped, table cloths were dirty. Breakfast choice very poor and very cheap. hHotel location is the only reason we stayed there. very noisy outside the hotel. Reception staff are helpful WIFI very poor.although free in the rooms the signal strenth very weak..

Room Tip: suites are slightly better equipped but the rates are as high as a 5 star hotel.

I recently stayed at the Tanzanite Executive Suites for a night before some meetings in Dar es Salaam. The room was fine with a nice bed, balcony and huge shower! The service was good overall, but the breakfast was very meager and the check out lady made me wait for a maid to check my room before I could leave. Luckily it didn't take long, as I had a meeting to catch. Overall worth a stay if you are there for business on a budget. Also FYI it is a completely dry (no alcohol premise) which didn't matter to me, but would have been nice to know up front.

The location of the hotel was good in relation to the airport though the surrounding area didnt seem great. We arrived in the middle of the night; thankfully it only took us 15 minutes to get to the hotel from the airport as there was no traffic. When I tried to arrange pickup from the airport with the hotel (as that is one of their services) I received no reply at all to the email I sent, which was not impressive. However it got sorted once I called them up and omeone was waiting for us when we arrived. The room was basic but clean and the bathroom was better than I expected. Everyone was very friendly in reception for checkin and -out. Breakfast buffet was small but OK. For overnight stays this is a good place as the rate is OK, but I would not stay for longer duration due to the location and the basic rooms.

Good option for overnight stay pre/post Zanzibar or Safari. Close to ferry. Good value for money. Friendly staff. Very clean, comfortable beds, huge rooms, beautiful bathrooms. Free wi-fi. Gym available. No in-house restaurant, but plenty of take away options available, front desk will help with this.
