“Fantastic”

As far as quality hotels go, the Sea Cliff is a wonderful place to stay, either for work or vacation. The staff are helpful, the rooms are clean, and the pool, shops, and casino provide plenty of entertainment during your stay. (Note the shops onsite are quite over-priced, but do undoubtedly provide high-quality products. For more affordable shopping and restaurants, try visiting the nearby area on the waterfront called the Slipway.) Will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Dar.

With the upgrading and repairs now complete, the hotel has a new feel about it, updated and clean, its a lovely place to spend a weekend or a week.
The main restaurant has a wonderful selection of foods that are quite good, the breakfast menu could do with an upgrade although its not bad in general.
The hotel staff are friendly and the environment is fresh, with a lovely pool and an open ocean to gaze and watch the sun rise and fall, away from the hustle of the town, the Sea Cliff on the peninsula is a place to be chosen.

Room Tip: The sea view would be the choice to be taken.

Very good hotel with adequately furnished and equipped rooms. Beautiful swimming pool overlooking the ocean. Breakfast buffet with a good selection of dishes. Staff mostly friendly and helpful. The boutiques are not of a great interest and the hair salon is very expensive.

Brief stay on business. Service reasonable, staff very pleasant, facilities good, hotel clean. Free Wi-Fi just about adequate. Room (128) O.K. but bathroom/toilet could not have been any smaller and view from the window was of the back of a row of solar panels - rather unattractive. Air conditioning fine. Ensure you get a sea facing room. Had an excellent Indian lunch in the Alcove Restaurant. Had an uninspiring evening meal in the Karambezi Café (where Breakfast is served) and found it rather noisy and lacking atmosphere (avoid sitting near the kitchen area) and the food somewhat ordinary. The Café location offer some fine views over the ocean but it can be quite windy. Pool good and offers a panoramic view of the Ocean. 'On site' casino. Would definitely use again provided room was better.

Room Tip: Ensure you get a sea facing room.

It is very easy to say this is the best hotel and leave it at that. But this hotel does still have it's niggles. We love our time here and find the staff friendly, helpful and efficient. The Karambezi restaurant has high prices but great food and great service. But sometimes things are not maintained (AC, WiFi) and the standard of cleaning can be average. For a hotel of this class, the details are sometimes missed. But it is still our favorite in Dar and there is nothing else close in terms of location, value and friendliness, just do not use the village rooms.

Our family of 5 spent one night here after an 8 night safari in Tanzania. After arriving at the DAR airport, a car service picked us up and drove us the 45 minutes it took to arrive at the Sea Cliff. At first, I was wishing we had booked a hotel near the airport but as we were driving through the city, I realized that this was a good opportunity to see people in their daily lives.

The hotel is on the ocean and the restaurant has a beautiful view. We were there on a Saturday night and there was a fantastic band in the restaurant that played lots of James Brown, Commodores, etc. The name of the band is The Monkey Band. They are the house band that plays every Friday and Saturday nights.

The service at this hotel was very good. Everyone was very helpful and friendly.

The hotel grounds are beautiful with little shops. There is also a small fitness center. It is great that the hotel is self-contained as I would not have felt comfortable going out walking around. If you are going to be in Dar, this is a great hotel in which to stay.

I have stayed here three times. It is a great hotel, a few downsides, but mostly great.

The pool is fantastic, with an awesome view. The bar service at the pool can be slow sometimes, especially if there are a lot of people, but be patient and nice to the servers and you get what you want. The pool area is very clean and orderly. The grounds of the hotel are very pretty too, lots of nice landscaping. No beach access but good ocean view.

The gym is very good, lots of great weights, machines, and cardo equipment in good condition and with an attendent. The gym is well air conditioned so it is very comfortable to work out in. Open 24 hours.

The restaurants are top notch. They are more expensive than area restautants, but that is to be expected of a hotel restautant. Again the view can't be beat.

The breakfast is the hotel's high point. Wonderful selection, eggs and combos to order that are included in the price. The servers don't always understand your English, but speak slowly and point at the menu and you will get what you want. They are very attentive if you are nice to them.

The rooms are nice, clean, beds comfortable. The A/C doesn't chill your room, but it is OK. The ocean front rooms are way cooler as they don't catch the afternoon sun. The city view rooms heat up faster and cool slower. Also, for some reason, the wifi works better on the ocean front rooms.

The area is awesome, with a great little shopping center next door with a grocery store. Buy your drinks at the supermarket next door, it is about 1/3 the price of the hotel drinks. You can put your stuff in the minibar fridge, but beware, the maids are used to seeing the minibar stacked a certain way and may charge you if you alter the items in there and you will have to argue the bill.

They also offer a grab and go breakfast of coffee tea and pastries in the lobby if you have to leave early. This is nice for early meetings.

The casino is pretty smoky, I didn't care for it.

If you have to go downtown to work, the drive can be a pain. Get a driver that knows shortcuts and you will be ok. But still at rush hour, plan at least 45 min to get anywhere down town and anytime to the airport is at least 1 hour, sometimes more.
You do have an ATM at the hotel too.

Room Tip: Oceanfront has better wifi and don't get the afternoon sun so stay cooler.
