An outdoor museum of traditional buildings of Tanzania. The personal guide was essential, as they explain the different buildings and the culture of the tribes represented by the buildings. Guides are available at the entrance. Very interesting and good to see the preservation of the different ways of life in villages.

If you have time, you can visit this interesting village museum. While you are in Dar Es Salaam, there isn't so many weekend and daily activities. Therefore you can spend approxiametly 2 hours in this village. You can inspire some tips of African villages. Also, you can watch a traditional dance in this village. The dancers were so dedicated on their dances. It was intersting.

I would not go during the day. We were charged $5 for an unguided walk around the village and no one to explain what happens. Only found out later that there is activity in the evening. However I would not pay $5 just to walk and look at huts! Also, the rate you pay depends on what country you are from??

I thought this museum was great, definitely the best museum I visited in Tanzania. We were brought around by a very good guide, who really knew his stuff.
There are over 20 reconstructions of houses and you can walk inside each of them and there are various thing on show in the houses.
There was also a traditional dance performance which was very interesting, even though there was only two of us in the audience!
I would recommend bringing a small torch, as inside some of the houses it's very dark.
It's easy to get there from the centre of Dar by getting the dalla dalla towards Mwenge and getting off at the Millennium Tower.
