The most beautiful beach in a short trip from Dar if you do not have the time and money to go to Zanzibar. You take the boat from a hotel, don't forget to tell them when you will be returning, same boat comes to pick you. Go before noon to be able to find a shadow. The fish and French fries are great but they are very poor on service , you may be left hungry, it is a better idea not to depend on that food but get your sandwiches and there you only order drinks and a snack. One disturbing thing is that they will come to ask for money all the time, you pay for shadow, you pay for chairs, you pay for stepping on the island and few more things... Try to avoid if you can, or have a local friend with you so you wont get tourist treatment. But it is beautiful, definitely worth going for beach and a sunny day. Make sure you adjust your timing for the high tides, the time we returned it was low tide and boat left us very far from the hotel beach (when returning to the mainland) and we had to walk to the mainland beach in a very muddy water, you simply lose your flip flops or shoes :)

The island is beautiful, but the trash washing up on the beach detracts from the beauty. Fresh fish and chips meal was great and they actually had cold sodas. I was disappointed that of the many staffers on the island it appeared no one was assigned to cleanup.

I know, I know what you’re thinking. But NO!
The boat ride the island is pleasant and everybody is in a relaxed mood, looking forward to an Island excursion. Getting to the island is a hop skip and a jump and before you know it the island is under your feet. Remember to wear sandals when getting off the boat, as the rocks and corals are quite sharp.
The food was poor, lobster undersize and charred to an inch of its life. The staff is rude, not interested in serving anything besides the menu, there are NO sauces and relishes to go with the food, and no tartar sauce. It was expensive and not the best of food ever eaten.
The water was refreshing and cool, the beaches were messed with syringes and I found that very scary, I will go back but this time armed with proper shoes to protect my feet from nasty surprises, own food and drinks.
It is an experience that every visitor to Dar must plan in, but be aware, this is not a food venue, and service is not an option. No bathroom on the Island, so plan ahead.

We went mid morning, 20 minutes or so in a small boat to a beautiful island. Nothing much to do but relax on white beaches, swim in turquoise warm water and eat fish and lobster braai. Take money for umbrella, food and drinks.
