Harbour View Suites
Ranked #17 of 97 Hotels in Dar es Salaam
Reviewed 6 May 2013

I have stayed on the Suites for 2 nights. And I have spent most of my time within the permises. I didn´t use the swimming pool, but was clean and inviting. Staff was very heplful and simpathetic. The reservation email didn't work and I was not picked up on the Airport. The bedroom was a nice suite with a kitchent and quite spacious. The restaurant served good food with different buffets ,and the social bar had a great harbour view. The location is within the commercial centre and a walk away from all the business interests. I have taken a ferry and visit Kingamboni beach too.
Very enjoyable stay. Down the main floor the Towers have a variety fo shops, minimarket, and basement floor with a nice CAsino.I will go back for sure.

I was booked into this Hotel on account of the convenience, however aside from the location that was convenient for me, there is nothing in this hotel that is worth of recommendation. My first experience was with the safety....the safes in this Hotel dont seem to work at all...so I decided it would be better if I carried my luggage with me till the safe was fixed. $ hours later I returned to the room afetr being assured that the fae would be fixed. Needless to say , it was not and only after repeated calls, I was given the safe from the GMs office to serve my purpose. The overall ambience of the room was tacky. Fittings were poor and the bathroom was simply appalling. The TV aside from being ancient had no selection in terms of viewing. The AC was probably from the colonial era. Pool timings were 6 am to 6 pm which meant if one returned from work and wished to swim, it was just not possible. The breakfast was average and the service was indifferent. The access to the restaurant and to the rooms is like entering a maze. one changes more lifts and walks up more staircase than being in a substandard mall........For the cost charged - US$ 120 per night I certainly felt cheated. This is not a hotel I would recommend unless one works in the same building or one likes to frequent a casino.

Staying in Harbour view suites in DAR has been always my preference for so many years. its location is central with shopping mall on the ground floor and also cater to the Casino Lovers which in the basement of shipping mall. View of the harbour mostly from the restaurant is amazing. during my recent stay i found a lots of high rise construction surrounding the hotel may block the harbour view - i mean view of harbour. Food is good, Rooms are spacious

Room Tip: Rooms on 10th and 11th floor are good to stay

Hard to be kind about this hotel as my room was broken into from the comunal balcony and, amongst other things, my camera with all my pictures from climibing Kilimanjaro was stolen.

This was heart-breaking but was made worse when I met the head of security who told me that they knew there was a problem with security at the hotel and had already advised that they needed a security guard.

Some of the staff were incredibly kind but unfortunately the response of the GM who showed no sympathy and was more worried about me making a claim against the hotel made things worse - in stark contrast to the incredible kindness and helpfulness shown by the guest relations manager. To be fair, the police did come to take a record of my claim which would never happen in London if a foreigner had things stolen in a hotel room.

The hotel is clean and feels professional, if lacking in character. It is centrally located in Dar.

The rooms are spacious and clean. My room was on the 10th floor, and it was a bit confusing how you get to the restaurant, as it is via the fire exit. Dinner was good. Breakfast was average. skip the croissants, they are bread disguised as croissants.

Room Tip: Not all rooms face the harbor. 1016 for example faces into another building 10m away.
