I spent 3 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and helpful (I didn't have a kettle in my room, but after a couple of requests I was brought a flask of hot water each night to make tea). My hot water wasn't working the first night and after complaining this was sorted very quickly and efficiently. The bed was very comfortable.
The sushi is lovely, although other food chosen from the specials was disappointing.
The setting is just fantastic - as good as it looks in the photos, even better when you can feel the sea breeze and smell the ocean. The bar and restaurant areas are well designed to maximise the view and have attractive and comfortable furniture
There is a tiny gym, not well equipped but better than nothing. The pool is good and the loungers very comfortable.
Only downside was that the weekend I stayed they held an all-night party on Saturday which was pretty nasty from my point of view - music banging til 5.30am and no warning to hotel guests (or any apologies the day after). The whole pool area smelt of beer the next morning and the beach was littered with empty bottles.

Room Tip: Ask whether they're holding a party when you plan to visit

We stayed 2 nights at Mediterraneo Hotel, and it was an overall good experience.
It is a beautiful hotel with great outdoor areas and good food! The staff was friendly and helpful. Only negative was that the area around the hotel was not really safe to walk around in. Atleast not according the the staff in the reception. We did not experience anything bad, so maybe they were a bit overprotective.. The beach was not great for swimming but the hotel has a pool.
We would recommend it for a relaxing stay.

We visited many places while visiting family in Dar and only ate at the restaurant. What a setting !! It is spot on, the best in Dar. Lovely places to sit and chill and a great restaurant. Food was 2nd to The Bay but the setting won hands down ! The food was lovely and the best Prawn Cocktail in a clam shell i have ever had !!!
Overall a great setting with great food.

Relaxed atmosphere. Spacious rooms. Comfortable beds. Clean and well-designed bathrooms. Excellent view over the water when breakfasting in the morning.

I was staying here alone for 2 nights, when I was waiting for a friend to arrive. I really managed to relax and do the the thing I really wanted and needed to: nothing.

Kind staff and their outdoor area is perfect! Go for it!

I booked this Hotel to get away from the noise of the City the night before heading off to Safari. This was the perfect choice... The rooms were spacious and very clean, everything worked which isn't like most places in Dar! The staff were friendly, the food was DELICIOUS!! I particularly liked the beach bar on an evening its very relaxing having drinks and watching the sunset.
While at the Hotel a friend lost her purse, the following day we had no choice but to carry on and go for our Safari, when we returned 5 days later my friend called the Hotel to see if it had been found (we weren't feeling very optimistic about this) & to both of our surprise they told us a member of staff had handed it in containing all of its money & cards! You have some very honest and valuable staff working for you at Mediterraneo. We loved our stay and will most definitely be returning! Thank you for a wonderful time!

I stayed some days here, and enjoyed it so much! The rooms are very modern and clean with some little details like the warm welcome from the owner and his wife! The restaurants are great sushi and italian food excellent! It was the first time in Tanzania for me so I wanted to see something and the staff helped me out to find the best sights in town and around the Hotel. Like a marked or the fish marked.

Because the hotel is located next to the sea you can also enjoy a day just lying next to the pool and charge your batteries!!

They call it Africa, we call it home! I defenatelly come back! You make Tanzania even more enjoyable!!

Stayed here for 8 nights whilst on business trip in Dar. Check in/out straight forward and no problems paying in USD/CC. This was my first stay here.

Security is excellent (Masai) and hotel staff friendly. Hotel is a bit outside of the CBD and traffic can be a problem if having to visit the CBD often. That said location, beach side setting and great Italian food makes it worthwhile.

Had a room (5) overlooking gardens and partial beach view. Rooms are spacious, huge bed and large bathroom. All fixtures including air conditioning worked OK. Plenty of TV channels. Room cleaned nicely. Water pressure a little low at times, my only complaint.

Restaurant serves a wide variety of good wholesome Italian food / other menus and bar has excellent choice of many beverages. Prices IMO were reasonable. I entertained several business guests at the restaurant over the week stay whom enjoyed the service and food very much. Breakfast was good and my eggs cooked perfect every morning.

Pool is refreshing and there is a little gym to for use. Weekends get busy with a variety of expatriates with their families taking advantage of the unique setting/facilities to unwind.

There is a monthly disco/party held every 3rd Saturday night of the month, which is noisy but worthwhile entertainment for the adults. I had a good time.

The beach side setting is done very well enabling the guests to sit back and relax looking out to the islands and the many boats travelling past.

Overall i must say a very enjoyable stay.
